Common Questions and Answers about Medroxyprogesterone to delay period

depo-provera

Avatar f tn I was bleeding for 3 months straight and my obgyn put me on medroxyprogesterone to make it stop. I started it the day before I was predicted to ovulated. I have been off it over a week and was told when I stopped I should spot and then my period should come normally. I have been having unprotected sex and I am 3 days late on my period. I have no clue what is going on. My questions is has anyone taken this and had this problem?
Avatar n tn my dr gave me a perscription of 12 medroxypr ac 10mg i completed the meds 10 days ago and my period is 6 days late it is never late.
Avatar f tn Well, irregular periods do happen and I'd say thus far, you've been really lucky to usually be regular. I had a period of time that I had really long cycles due to my thyroid being slow. I also produced too much estrogen at this time. For me, it self corrected thank goodness. But during that time, my period came every three months! Ugh, the pms was long and drawn out. This went on for about a year or so.
Avatar n tn hopefully you will not be like me, it took 12 weeks to get my period after my m/c.
Avatar f tn My period seemed to be really lite this month so me and my husband had sex for 3 nights in a role when i was on my period and got off in me every time even the last day of my period.my cycles are like every 35 days but my periods usually dont last but 4 days.is there a chance that i might be pregnant?
1856888 tn?1325186544 If medroxyprogesterone is taken for 5 to 10 days each month at this time (ie day 16 to 21 of your cycle) it mimics the natural rise in your progesterone levels. This can help your other hormones to behave in a more normal way. To treat irregular periods this medicine is taken in this way for two menstrual cycles. To treat periods that have stopped it is taken for three menstrual cycles. In each case, a few days after you stop taking the tablets you should get your period.
Avatar f tn I went to see my gynocologist monday because I had spotting and bleeding since July 28th and ended up in urgent care that previous friday. My gyn Dr. wanted to put me on medroxyprogesterone acetate 10mg but while I was in the office they gave me a vaginal biopsy and was scheduled for a ultrasound so I wanted to get my results before I start my hormone medicine.Doctor called me the next day and said I have a non-cancerous firbroid and polyp from the biopsy results.
Avatar n tn If you bled, you were not pregnant. Provera will cause you to get your period if you have missed your period due to hormonal imbalance. Provera will also stop your bleeding if you have some dysfunctional uterine bleeding (twice a day for five days). During pregnancy, Provera does not cause bleeding. Provera definitely does NOT cause a miscarriage and is definitely used during pregnancy, expecially if you have a low progesterone level.
Avatar f tn Because DMPA persists in the body for several months in women who have used it on a long-term basis, it can delay the return to fertility. Approximately 70% of former users desiring pregnancy conceive within 12 months, and 90% of former users conceive within 24 months. Similar to the delay in fertility after discontinuation of DMPA, other adverse effects, such as weight gain, depression, and menstrual irregularities, may continue for as long as 1 year after the last injection.
Avatar n tn I had some really bad craming about 2 weeks ago but i only had a little bit of brown spotting. My doc wanted me to start BC after i recieved my period so i started taking it after that. When i spoke to the gyno, he told me that that was not normal and that if it happened again i needed to call him ASAP. I havent had my period yet and my breast are very large and just started leaking. I'm not sure what is going on because i look like i am showing a bit yet my tests are negative.
Avatar n tn This report relates to the remaining 44. 34 were treated with Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone acetate), 9 with Colprone (megestrone acetate), and 1 with Megace (megestrol acetate). Of the 34 patients treated with Depo-Provera 13 showed regression of the tumor; 3 of the 9 treated with Colprone showed regression. In an additional 11 (25%) of cases growth of the tumors was arrested. 7 of these were later found to have abdominal metastases; however, 3 were free of symptoms for over 43 months.
Avatar n tn I am supposed to start my period this coming weekend and this past Saturday I had some very light pink discharge. No pain or anything to make me thik it would be a bladder infection or a UTI. I also have had extremely sore breasts. The nipple doesn't hurt but right under it hurts really bad. My face is breaking out which is never a problem for me. I have had heavy discharge (clear, mucus-like) for the past 4 days.
Avatar n tn I gained 12 lbs (yes, not what you want to see when you're trying to get pregnant), my first period took 38 days to come all of which I was bloated, cramping, and just plain miserable, and my sex drive completely disappeared while I was on it making me feel as though I was broke. I just told my husband last night that I'm amazed at how much better I feel and that I'm relieved to see that my sex drive loss was from the pill and not from something being wrong with me.
Avatar n tn I already know I'm not gonna see anything cause I don't have any feeling at all in my body that a period is even trying to come. I guess we all just have to take it one day at a time, cause at this point, I guess that only time will tell. I do remember reading on another message board where this girl said that her doctor told her that this happens to 30% of women. He said that they get negative results in blood and urine until about the 4th month before it starts to show positive.

318181 tn?1336447096 I have my baseline sono on Wednesday, whether I've started my period or not, and then I'll start the FSH meds next weekend. Can't wait to get this show on the road. I kinda freaked out a bit yesterday, though, because I totally forgot to take my lupron at 7 and didn't remember until 10:30! I really hope that won't mess anything up. Jessime: Sounds like you two had a great time on the cruise!!! Best of luck testing tomorrow! Wannahaveababy: Thank you so much!
