I was bleeding for 3 months straight and my obgyn put me on medroxyprogesterone to make it stop. I started it the day before I was predicted to ovulated. I have been off it over a week and was told when I stopped I should spot and then my period should come normally. I have been having unprotected sex and I am 3 days late on my period. I have no clue what is going on. My questions is has anyone taken this and had this problem?

My OB prescribed me Medroxyprogesterone and advised me to take it if I went longer than 3 months without a period. I took my first course of the meds in early April of 2016 and got my period right after my last dose. Had a period in May with no help, missed June and July so I Started my Medroxyprogesterone again in August and started my period later that same month. Missed September, but as of October and without needing the medroxyprogesterone I have been getting my period every month.
My doctor prescribed me Medroxyprogesterone about a week ago and told me to take it for 5 days until i get my period then start taking birth control once it starts. it's been about 8 days and i still havent gotten my period. she says that it you dont get your period for more than 3 months (without the medicine, naturally) then i have a great risk of uterus cancer. Does this mean i have cancer because it isnt working?
During your normal cycle your progesterone raises right before your period and that drop in levels causes the period. The medroxyprogesterone is just like that normal rise and drop. I hope this helps!
Hi I'm 27 years ago and I have a 7 year old daughter. Me and my fiance have been ttc for 3+ years now. I was prescribed medroxyprogesterone 10mg for 10 days. I started taking this medicine on the first of March and had a regular cycle on the 19. I didn't take the medicine in April due to me being on antibiotics. I didn't have a period in April and haven't had one so far in May. I'm usually regular with my cycles being off a few days.
I just got married on April 25th, and I was supposed to have my period around that time. I got the prescription from the doctor to take 10mg/day of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE. However, since I started taking the medicine too late, 2 days after I took the medicine, I still had my period, so I stopped taking it. On May 13th, I had unprotected sex. My question is: is it safe to get pregnant within a month after taking 20mg of MEDROXYPROGESTERONE ACETATE? Many thanks!

My experience, I was given medroxyprogesterone to induce my period as well, and I didn't start bleeding until about 2-3 days after finishing the 10 days. However, this is my third time taking it, and I actually started bleeding about 8 days into it this time. So it may differ!
It probably wouldn't hurt just to give your doctor a call though, and just tell them it hasn't worked and you feel nauseated.
I have PCOS so the chances of me being pregnant right now without the Clomid Metformin and Medroxyprogesterone is slim to none as I haven't had a cycle since July of Last year. Anyway I've posted before about our ventures in TTCing and the ups and downs of everything and although I've been taking metformin to help with the PCOS, I still didn't have a period and it was fine because we weren't ready to try again.
You are a very young man and have normal instincts. You real problem is that you need a girlfriend and don't have one. Wouldn't it be better to find a lover than to take medications?

ve been really lucky to usually be regular. I had a period of time that I had really long cycles due to my thyroid being slow. I also produced too much estrogen at this time. For me, it self corrected thank goodness. But during that time, my period came every three months! Ugh, the pms was long and drawn out. This went on for about a year or so. Hi there and welcome. Ya know, I went through a period in my 20's in which my period came every 3 to 4 months due to issues with a slow functioning thyroid called hypothyroidism. The slow thyroid throws off hormones and then periods cease or are infrequent. Other reasons for not having a period exist as well. Best to see your doctor to discuss why you aren't menstruating.
Hello I would like to ask a question about my period. Today its the 9th day that my period delayed. I took a pregnancy test 7 days ago but it was negative. Do I need to take another one? I am 23 years old, nearly 24 and my period never delayed!! It was always on time.. I had unprotected sex with my husband but he never finished inside. Also I took the after day pill twice in 2 or 3 months I can't really remember but not during the same month. Does this have to have anything with it?
