Avatar f tn My D.O. just prescribed Medroxyprogesterone at my request; I had been on this before for PCOS, but I don't think it was prescribed to me in the correct way as I remember. The prescription is written to take 1 tablet(10mg) by mouth once daily. I don't think I am to take this every day for 30 days, so could you tell me what the correct dosage is for this problem and when do I begin taking it? Seems to me that I took it after I had a period for a period of 5 -10 days, I just can't remember.
2051102 tn?1330321233 I will be doing this for 6 months. Why is this medication prescribed? Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat abnormal menstruation (periods) or irregular vaginal bleeding. Medroxyprogesterone is also used to bring on a normal menstrual cycle in women who menstruated normally in the past but have not menstruated for at least 6 months and who are not pregnant or undergoing menopause (change of life).

777396 tn?1329791151 She is having me do some tests, but says that I more than likely have PCOS. She wants me to take Medroxyprogesterone (Provera) to get my periods regulated. I first wanted to know about side effects. Second I was reading that this particular drug is not recommended as it could cause some sort of pregnancy issue. Wasn't sure about if that was fact or myth. Any input is appreciated.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PCOS a little over a year ago. I tried Glucophage but that didn't work. It's been just over a year since my last period so my doctor prescribed Provera to start my period then Clomid. I took the Provera as prescribed for 10 days. It's been 6 days since I stopped and still no period. All of the information I've read says it should take 3-7 days so I haven't called my doctor yet. Has anyone else had this experience.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PCOS in the beginning of the year and was put on medroxyprogesterone actate 10mg for 3 months (21 days each). After 3 months, I went back to see my gynae but things didn't improve (nor got worse) and I was put on the same medication for another 4 months. After the 1st month (of 2nd intake) my period failed to come. Please advise on what I should do.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I missed my period for two months, then was bleeding for 6 weeks. I am not sure what to do as the only symptom of PCOS I had was through my ultra sound. My menstrual cycle is pretty regular, lasts about 5 days, first day is light, next few days are normal and then it lightens up and is gone by the 5th day. I don't have heavy bleeding a tampon works fine. I am not overweight all of my blood work is perfect.

Avatar f tn Hello All, It's been Six days since my last medroxyprogesterone (provera) pill and I'm waitinf for AF to show and nothing! So of course her I go with the worrying. I have PCOS so the chances of me being pregnant right now without the Clomid Metformin and Medroxyprogesterone is slim to none as I haven't had a cycle since July of Last year.
Avatar f tn Hi I was recently diagnosed with PCOS after so many years of not knowing. I take Metformin 500mgs two times a day, i started very lightly i would take it with food, since i wasnt getting periods, my Dr also prescribed medroxiprogesterone and birth control pills (wich i hate) but as far as all the HAIR!!!!! it drives me NUTZ! i've been shaving Everyday, but whats more mothersome is the FACE!!!!!!! because i don't wanna shave that are of my body but it seems as if i have no hope!
430388 tn?1239588723 Hey Hun, I'm surprised that your dictor told you, you would become infertile. PCOS can cause infertility but there are typically ways to fix it. Also, have you been trying or just stunned by the news? There are many women who still get pregnant even with PCOS, alot of it depends on what lab work shows your hormone levels to be and often you are prescribed medication, etc. I wouldn't worry yourself to much, I don't know why your doctor would worry you like that.
Avatar f tn Anyway recently I returned to a different doctor and informed him of no periods (6 years now) he was concerned since my uterus should be shedding regularly and informed me of high cancer risk. Current Dr thinks I may have PCOS, he also prescribed Medroxyprogesterone to see if my period will start and ran blood test.
Avatar n tn SHE GAVE ME MEDROXYPROGESTERONE (PROVERA) 5MG /TODAY IS 6TH DAY AND BLEEDING HAS NOT STOPPED.I HAVE DONE ULTRA SOUND AND BLOOD WORKS RESULTS STILL HAVE TO COME.

706727 tn?1229096832 I was aslo on medroxyprogesterone last summer due to PCOS and it gave me a flow for 2 weeks ( My menstrual usually last 5 days) and also had bad cramping. She gave it to me to take 5 days out of every month but after the first time, I did not take it again. I would go to the doctor.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago after years and years of uncomfortable symptoms(I am 31) and missed periods. I was a late starter (18) and I have averaged 3 cycles a year. Sometimes missing periods for a whole year. As of October of 2016 I have been getting a period every month! Awesome right!? I think I am the only person I know that wishes and crosses their fingers hoping to start their period. Anyways I have two questions at the moment I guess.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PCOS, and have been prescribed with MedroxyPROGESTERone (10mg) and MetFORMIN (500mg). I was instructed to take one Medroxy pill for 10 days before bedtime, every month for 3 months. Along with one Metformin pill for 2 weeks every night before bedtime, then continuing with 2 pills every morning after the 2 week bedtime sequence. I finished my 10 day Medroxy pill yesterday night. And was wondering how much longer it would take to get my period.
Avatar f tn Hi I have long cycle, but now I don' have period for 3 months, now there is a bleeding but not a normal flow .I took scan for PCOS Results seems to be normal ,but periods not normal there is a flow for about 20 days .I took blood test thyroid,HB ...
Avatar n tn I went, I was scanned, scooped, pricked and had my tinkle tested for pregnancy needless to say BFN on all accounts. Was I shocked? Absolutely not, I had figured as much! I was put on Medroxyprogesterone to start my period and was told to call the 1st day that my period starts to schedule lab work and to not TTC until the meds are finished (basically no BD'ing for 10 days) and then after that it's a free for all. I think she believes I show symptoms of PCOS, now on to my question.
Avatar f tn My boyfriend and I decided we wanted to start trying for a baby. I have pcos and I dont get my period unless I am on some type of medication. My doctor started me in medroxyprogesterone to induce my period then clomid for ovulation today is my last day on it. Just wondering how many women actually get pregnant from this and how long it took. Im pretty new to all this so any helpful insight would be greatly appreciated!
1557930 tn?1294636149 If your periods are irregular or have stopped completely and your doctor can find no obvious cause, it may be that something has upset your natural hormone levels. Medroxyprogesterone can help to restore your natural hormone levels, because it mimics the effects of your natural progesterone. Normally the level of progesterone in your blood increases about a week before your period.
1897345 tn?1374269455 i only was prescribed 10 pills and was told to take one a day and it was no refills the meds are called medroxyprogesterone i don't have all the signs for PCOS tho the DR.
