Avatar m tn Dr. Zhang in NYC and Dr. Misha Cohen in San Francisco both appear to have decent credentials in alternative HCV treatments. As stated, they do not claim to "cure' HCV, but if they can help you can stave of liver damage that can be almost as important. The tricky part with alternative treatments is figuring out if they are working or not.
Avatar m tn The recommended dose of paracetamol for a single adult is two standard 500 mg tablets. Researches have reported that the threshold for liver damage to start from a single paracetamol overdose is 15 gms (30 tablets). However liver damage could start to occur at a single overdose of 24 standard tablets or 150 mg/kg body weight, (whichever is the smaller).
Avatar f tn Hello! What medicines are usually prescribed for NAFLD of grade 3? I've read on internet that there are no medicines or treatment available for this then what's done? How is it cured? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Do your medicines say on the possible side effects ( should be listed on the paper that comes with them) could effect the liver. If that is the case you could discuss this with your doctor and you can work together to find a treatment that can work for you. A lot of people have hep c and don't know it. Also being overweight also can hurt your liver. Get the tests your doctor recommends and go forward with knowledge not guesses.
Avatar f tn nothing with them only, they only say you have hbv but don t say if you have hepatitis, liver damage, virus replicating
Avatar m tn Hello Community, I wanted to know if it is safe to take medicines for us who are chronic hbv patients, i.e. other than the necessary hbv drugs? I've been told that I've a high blood pressure, and my doctor recommended a drug that I would take all my life against the high blood pressure. Also I'm suffering from anxiety but I'm afraid to take these medicines because they would make my liver damage even worse. What is your opinion?
Avatar m tn that since the doctor has not recommended me to take anti viral med right now because liver damage is not high but he has also said that one day or the other the liver damage will become high and than i will have to take the medicines .. so my questoin is .. CANT I DO SOMETHING SO THAT THE LIVER DAMAGE DOES NOT BECOME HIGH ?
786879 tn?1236881905 liver filters most toxins in the body. so if you don't need any, then don't use any. but as for painkiller, my hepa only sida Tylenol. no Advil bc it reduces platelet counts, and mine are already double digits. and bummer i became allergic to Tylenol by week 30. hello Benadryl!
Avatar f tn Having elevated liver enzymes means something is bothering the liver but not how much damage has happened or is happening. Everyone I know of that has been cured including me have had their liver enzymes return to normal. The only lab test I have now that is not normal is my platelet count which is low because of liver damage. Most herbal treatments do little to nothing to help the liver. Some can be harmful to a liver with significant liver damage and cirrhosis.
Avatar m tn This was the goaled of maintenance therapy but it did not work. You have very little liver damage guy, to keep stressing over it is no good for the liver. You have plenty of time for new medicines to be approved. Hang in there. "Before this study, many physicians had assumed that maintenance therapy was beneficial and had used this approach for their patients," said Adrian M. Di Bisceglie, MD, one of the study's researchers.
Avatar m tn Hi, I understand your concern regarding this and increased liver enzymes do not necessarily suggest damage to the liver. There are many causes of elevated liver enzymes such as inflammation, infection, as well as certain medicines. A repeat test may indeed be done to confirm the result and depending on the result, additional diagnostic tests may be done. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Hi Taz. It has been my experience that Liver enzymes are a tricky indicator of any type of stage of liver disease. Then jump up and down, and if you've been drinking Heavily, It can take much more time for them to settle. For that reason Liver Enzyme numbers raise flags for further testing, but then may come back down. Therefor my doctors have always looked at the numbers over time, and runs specific tests that more accurately pinpointing the corresponding problem/condition.
Avatar n tn It is good that Robo pointed out that there are some drugs that will reverse liver fibrossis, but that is different than truly scarred or necrotic tissue that can be the result of cirrhosis. For certain, if you can reverse some of the damage and keep your own liver, that is the best option in my opinion. Like Eureka says, you really need to be seeing a hepatologist for the best answers.
Avatar f tn Hi, as we have started medicines for dad liver cirrhosis disease, so with this can we stop further liver damage or other symptoms which is not occured yet.
Avatar m tn Drinking alcohol can cause an increase in liver enzymes as can certain medicines. Also there are several viruses that specifically attack the liver like hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and others. Being overweight can cause fatty liver with fat cells inside the liver also cause an increase in liver enzymes. The only way to know why you have elevated liver enzymes is to see a doctor and get a proper diagnosis.
Avatar f tn If your cirrhosis is caused by alcohol you MUST stop all drinking. If the cause of liver damage is removed this will possibly allow the liver to begin to heal. At a minimum stopping any further damage will at least prevent further progression of liver disease.
Avatar m tn you must also make a fibroscan or biopsy to know the damage to you liver, that's the only way, all blood tests cannot tell you about the damage accumulated in the liver by years
Avatar m tn What we do know is that no supplements or vitamins will stop the daily damage being done to the liver by the hepatitis C virus. Nor will any vitamin or supplement repair the damage (cirrhosis) that has already done to his liver. Only by treating and curing the cause of liver disease, hepatitis C, can further damage to the liver stopped. And only by curing hepatitis C can a person’s liver begin to heal itself and any symptoms resulting from cirrhosis begin to improve.
Avatar f tn As all of us that have been under the care of a hepatologist at a liver transplant center know that any changes to drugs, vitamins, supplements, herbs and even certain foods much be approved by our hepatologist before any changes are made as these changes could effect the status of our liver disease and our own safety. For people with no liver disease or lesser liver disease, they can just follow the labels on the drugs and be safe.
