Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica in australia

lyrica

Avatar f tn We discussed neuro transmitter issues and he told me that there are no diagnostic tools available here (in Australia) for this (but they do have them in the US). What type of tests are these and any idea how much it would cost a non US citizen?? Also, is there merit in me having CSV or muscle/nerve testing as these have not been done. Any ideas on what the problem could be?? Does a normal EMG/NCV rule out an issue with nerves/muscles.
Avatar m tn Hi there, I'm Sandy from Australia. In a Nutshell I have Fibromyalgia and Heamachromatosis AND I have just lost 56 kilos after Sleeve Gastrectomy. My Rheamatolidgist put me on Lyrica and I can tell you I don't know how I am even sitting here typing this. I feel so slow and off the planet. :/ My question is, WHY does the Lyrica make you put on weight. Is it just your appetite increases?
773755 tn?1328119777 Lyrica, the first FDA-approved drug to treat fibromyalgia, has been associated with severe allergic reactions that can cause angioedema — swelling of the throat, head, and neck, resulting in airway compromise. Furthermore, Lyrica can promote weight gain, sleepiness, dry mouth, and brain fog. Finally all seizure medications, including Lyrica, can increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. When you look at the adverse effects of Lyrica, I think it should be used as a last resort.
5727805 tn?1378193052 My sister in law is newly pregnant and not originally from Australia. I am a new zealander so don't know much about Australian birth care. But are midwives used?? Or do you see the doctor? She is An Australian permanent resident. Here in NZ is it simple, you just contact a midwife and go from there. Is it that simple in Australia?
Avatar f tn I know I have potentially thrown the cat in amongst the pigeons but I think it is a valid topic for those in Australia suffering with Lyme Disease.
Avatar f tn Gday is there anyone in Australia on these forums having trouble with tramadol...I am in Queensland..Thanks Anyone can join in any help is great thanks everbody.......
Avatar f tn Hey, Doc~ I'm sure you understand that it isn't just any tick that will produce Lyme disease after having bitten someone. You know that they are deer ticks that have been infected, and hence carry the disease. I'm sorry about the cat. My goodness! But there's no way to tell if the tick that latched onto kitty infected the cat with Lyme or something else. (Not saying it can't have been Lyme!) I found a site that says Lyme was first documented in Australia in 1980.
582777 tn?1298456914 I just wanted to check in, since there are a few other Aussie MS'ers here. We're in Brisbane, 2km from the floodwaters, but our house is on a hill and we will stay high and dry thankfully. Hopefully our other QLD community members are also safe right now.
Avatar f tn Do you think Australia will eventually use rapid hiv tests to combat the hiv rates in Australia. I know Australia has great resources but read that they have not implemented point of care rapid tests.
Avatar n tn I am hearing contradictory opinions about the safety of Lyrica in a recovering addict. I would rather live with the pain than relapse. Has anyone had any experience with this?

7172456 tn?1403092946 Does anyone know if your aloud to ask for an induction in Australia? My husband works away so I want to make sure she comes while he is home as he only gets 1-2 weeks off for baby, I'm due on August 14th so can I elect to have an induction on the 14th incase she hasn't come yet?
Avatar m tn I am a 32-year old female, with a history of eating disorders and alcohol addiction. Being honest, let's say dependence. In July of 2013, I had the misfortune of being hit by a car, as a pedestrian, and suffered tremendous injuries. I am currently on certain pain medications, including narcotics, Lyrica… and I supplement this with extra-strength Tylenol when need be. I am currently drinking, still… I had stopped for some time, but following a traumatic event, resumed.
Avatar f tn If you have to stop taking Lyrica because you will be starting another drug, then you should still take Lyrica in smaller and smaller doses until you have reached the full strength of dosages for the other drug you are taking. This will not only minimize your withdrawal symptoms, but also aid in minimizing chances of the two drugs interacting in a negative fashion.
1345254 tn?1325918041 I was on a lyrica regiment for about 6 months and in regard to side effects, never had any adverse reactions that were of concern. At first the Dr started me on gabapentin (neurontin), but that stuff really messed with me. Within a week, I'd wake in the mornings horribly dizzy..It would take me a couple hours just to get feeling somewhat normal. So the Dr switched me to the lyrica..
874521 tn?1424116797 you name it and with the added weight all it did was make me have more pain from all the pressure of carrying around that weight that compressed my spine which in turn made me go up and up in lyrica dosage to counteract the pain so it was just a vicious cycle. I am now in the stages of tapering of Lyrica and have already cut the dose down by a two-thirds in the past month and should be all done with it in the next 4 weeks.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi guys, I'm investigating Lyrica, and a switch over maybe, I'm almost at the max of Gabapentin, so am looking into other options. I have heard though that so many people GAIN lots of weight with Lyrica..... have you folks found that to be a problem?? My mother is 79 and was put on Lyrica..( not to sure why), but apparently gained 40 pounds in 7 weeks, and I for soure don't want that. Extra weight is also hard on us with MS........
131817 tn?1209529311 I started Lyrica in Nov. O7'. I felt horrible for a long time. I went slowly. One pill a week, until I reached 150mg. I hurt all that time. After I had that 150mg ( not much) I started feeling better. It took so long.....more than a month. Finally, I did feel better. I did have breakthrough pain, nothing like I had before, but stabbing here and there. I still do! My Rhemy asked me to up my dose. I refused, as I had sides that put me asleep so often...
