A week has gone by from all four impacted wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do?
I had a wisdom tooth extracted 2 weeks ago in my lower jaw. A week after i could open my mouth only partially and not able to feed myself because of pain on the right lower jaw where it is atached to the upper jaw. I went back to the dentist and he prescribed Metrenidazole 400mg. It is a week now after commnecing antibiotic but there is no change . i cannot open my mouth and it is very painful when i try to force open it, and therefore can feed myself mostly on fluids. Please advise.

after a routine dental visit my jaw was just sore from the shot that I got in my lower and 5 weeks later I cant open my jaw/mouth more a quarter of an inch without horrific pain.it seems to be getting worse I have gone to the dentist and the doctor it is not TMJ and I am on naproxin and pain killers which dont even help. Nobody seems to know what is wrong does anybody have any answers.
My mouth will not open and close evenly and when I lay down my jaw locks up and I can’t open my mouth. When I’m up it always pops on the right side opening and closing my mouth while talking and chewing. I would like to know why it does this and what is causing this and if it can be treated. I am in pain everyday with this problem and it is very frustrating. It started a few years ago and it is getting worse. Please help!! Thanks!!
m not sure that this is what i have because my dentist said my teeth and gums were fine. Also when I open my mouth wide where my upper and lower jaws connect also hurts and kinda clicks. The color of my gums are fine and dont seem to be swollen, I just have pain. I've actually noticed to small bumps on the outer side of my mouth, close to where my lower gums hurt, that have also been painful.

They sent me home and three days after the extractions, I noticed a very hard bump in my lower right jaw about an inch from my mouth that was hot and tender to the touch. I called them and they said it was probably muscles that were just tense and to keep taking my pain meds. I now am off of my pain meds and over the past couple of nights the bump as slowly started to gravitate up my lower right jaw line toward the back of my jaw.
When I went back to the dentist to have the crown put on, I mentioned the jaw pain to her. She said that it happens and could have been from having my mouth open too wide or from the injection hitting a nerve. (I do remember an almost shock or jolt when she gave me one of the shots.) She prescribed a corticosteroid pack to be taken over a 6 day period.
Today is the last day of the pack and the pain came back with a vengeance this morning.
Anyway, the pain came back again yeasterday with a vengence! My lower jaw on my left side has severe pain that lasts several minutes then subsides for a while. The upper jaw on the left side is also effected but isn't as severe. Sometimes there is stabbing pain to my ear. The pain is bad enough to wake me up at night. It almost feels like a "charly horse" in my jaw. I use a splint at night. I do have an implant in my lower jaw on that side and see a dentist regularly.

i am in alot of pain my bridge teeth are much longer than my other teeth when i bite down the bridge teeth cover my lower jaw teeth and it seems like my jaw is out alignment now i hear popping when i open my mouth and i am having pain on my bridge side of my face neck shoulder back and arm pain is this normal?
I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled Oct "11 its sept "12 I'm having a lot of problems eating because of the pain on the right side of my jaw and I can't open my mouth. The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. It causes pain when I open my mouth wide and always feels like the bones are 'clicking' and 'clunking' out of place. I have had phisio on the joint but that is only a stretch of the muscle and the pan is always present. None of the doctors I have seen can give me a strtaight answer.
i had my wisdom teeth removed on 24th apr 2010, the sweling on my cheek is still there with some pain , when i touch my cheek i can feel a bump probably a size of a golf ball, or probably smaller than that, i can open my mouth half of what i use to open before , the dentist told me that the swelling would reduce starting from 3rd day , and would be gone by 5th day , today is 5th day but swelling is not gone , i am really scared , how much time wil it take for the swelling to be gone
