Avatar f tn I have felt pain on and off the entire time since but this weekend I got to where I could hardly open my mouth to eat without having a lot of pain. I know I need to go to the doctor but I do not have the money to go. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas to ease some of the pain.

Avatar m tn A week has gone by from all four impacted wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do?
Avatar f tn It's been one a week after having all 4 wisdome teeth extracted, I don't have much pain nor did after surgery (I was fully sedated) However my tongue is still 30% numb I have troubles speaking (it's frustrating) and the other issue is I can't open my mouth wide enuf to even fit my tooth brush in my mouth. I called My dentist office spoke with reception, she said it's normal, and will pass.
Avatar n tn It was healing ok but 5 days ago while biting a sandwich my jaw made a loud popping sound and since then i am not able to open my mouth more than an inch. i also have alot of swelling. What coul this be?
Avatar n tn My mouth will not open and close evenly and when I lay down my jaw locks up and I can’t open my mouth. When I’m up it always pops on the right side opening and closing my mouth while talking and chewing. I would like to know why it does this and what is causing this and if it can be treated. I am in pain everyday with this problem and it is very frustrating. It started a few years ago and it is getting worse. Please help!! Thanks!!
Avatar f tn I've been searching all over the internet and I don't know if I have TMJ or just something else. I can barely open my mouth an inch and my jaw feels locked. I can't even yawn in peace anymore or even brush my teeth properly without feeling pain when I try to open my mouth more. This has gone on for three days. I feel a swelling-like bump when I touch the outside of my face.
Avatar f tn I am getting a bridge made for my bottom left side and had my mouth open for a total of 5 hours in 1 day. The pain in my jaw was severe, and my ear feels like there is something in it. There is also a noise when I chew, or open my mouth. I can't open my mouth very big yet, but it is improving. There is no clicking sound when I open and close my mouth . It is more of a whooshing sound. I have a temporary bridge in and although it is not great the bite is OK. My Dr.
389345 tn?1209322565 Also my skin is very sensitive and hurts. It hurts to open my mouth to far or to rotate my jaw around. I just found out that I do have three leaky heart valves. Could these headaches be do to the jaw popping or the heart condition?
Avatar n tn There is NO PAIN except when I open my mouth....the jaw hurts, or the muscle in the jaw. Is this from the shots the dentist gave me before he extracted the tooth?
Avatar f tn When I was 16 I had my wisdom teeth removed (I'm 23 now). After the surgery, I had MANY issues with my jaw. At first I lost some mobility, it was stiff and I couldn't open my mouth all the way. Next, I when I opened my mouth, it would pop halfway through with a very loud popping noise and the joint (only on the left side) would pop outward. It could be heard across the room, seen, and felt.
Avatar f tn Hello and hope you are doing well. There are tubes called 'Eustachian tubes' which connect the middle ear to the throat, this balances the air pressure in the ears. This tube can get blocked due to infections of the throat, which can give lead to a feeling of fullness in the ears. They can also get blocked in Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. This can also result in infection of the ears.
2932946 tn?1344722012 Since i had surgery I've had a problem with the left side of my jaw "catching". when i open my mouth very wide it feels like it catches and it's definitely not painless. I never had a problem with it before. Anyone else have this issue?
Avatar f tn I think I have TMJ, although no dentist has agreed with me, but my jaw clicks and I can see it shift when I open my mouth. So now I have this jaw pain that almost seems connected somehow to my neck -- just not sure if it's a possibility?? And how can I relieve it??!!?? Any input is appreciated!
Avatar m tn I have had a nagging pain in the back of my mouth for almost 3 months now. The pain is located in the hard palate area above my molars on the right side. Dental X-rays have revealed that nothing is wrong. My wisdom teeth are still intact, but 3 dentists and 2 oral surgeons have assured me that they do not need to come out and would not be causing the pain. The pain is like a sharp pressure in that area of my mouth. Almost feels like a sinus infection in that palate/gum region.
Avatar n tn I told them of the pain in my jaw as they were yanking and pulling but they said the bottom right was on a nerve and that was what was causing the pain. They sent me home and three days after the extractions, I noticed a very hard bump in my lower right jaw about an inch from my mouth that was hot and tender to the touch. I called them and they said it was probably muscles that were just tense and to keep taking my pain meds.
Avatar m tn Hello~Yes, they definitely could all be connected. It sounds to me like you have TMJ syndrome. The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) acts like a sliding hinge, connecting your jawbone to your skull. You have one joint on each side of your jaw. TMJ disorders — a type of temporomandibular disorder or TMD — can cause pain in your jaw joint and in the muscles that control jaw movement. The exact cause of a person's TMJ disorder is often difficult to determine.

Avatar n tn I had pain in my jaw too and could not open my mouth to eat more than 1/2 inch. The dentist opened my mouth too wide . This problem went away after 3 days. Next time the dentist did not open my mouth so wide. I have a very small mouth so the average person may be able to handle their jaws to be opened very wide. Next time make sure you tell your dentist not to open it so wide. I think your jaw will get better in time. I would suggest taking Advil due to inflammation. Hope this helps.
1947337 tn?1331423890 I can't speak for everyone else but I do have jaw pain. It's my left side mostly and I get constant ear aches from it too. I believe it's from clenching for me. So my jaw is always very stiff too. In the mornings are the worst. I had to get a mouth guard. I've not had surgery either so if you had maybe others can chime in and let you know if they had this issue after surgery.
698356 tn?1240150727 Hi Rachel....I also am a member of the night mouth piece club...lol When I am low on thyroid hormone my jaw aches really bad. Once I get optimal again, it does let up a lot. Your right....the price of our "appliances" is outrageous! Do you use warm moist heat packs on your jaw?? It usually helps me.

1402335 tn?1280877356 My right temple hurts when I yawn.Or open my mouth really wide. It is not swollen or brused. I have had this pain for 1 day now. And it is driving me crazy!!!!!
Avatar n tn I have all four wisdom teeth and have never had a problem, there was enough room for them all to come in without bothering any other teeth. On the top two, they are both broken in half. Until now, neither has given me any problem. My husbands work insurance is coming in in a month so I will be getting my teeth taken care of but until then I have a problem. On my left upper side, it was excrutiatingly painful, the gum around the tooth was swelling, there was pus/blood, and excess saliva.
