jaw pain open

It was healing ok but 5 days ago while biting a sandwich my jaw made a loud popping sound and since then i am not able to open my mouth more than an inch. i also have alot of swelling. What coul this be?

m not sure what it was called but they pulled my chin out and also removed bone from my upper jaw. I have felt pain on and off the entire time since but this weekend I got to where I could hardly open my mouth to eat without having a lot of pain. I know I need to go to the doctor but I do not have the money to go. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas to ease some of the pain.

I dont feel any pain until i open my jaw more than half way. My ear feels like theres a lot of fluid in it. I was thinking it might be an ear infection. But why would my jaw really hurt to open more than half way? It doesnt hurt when I chew either. Does anyone know what I might have?

My mouth will not open and close evenly and when I lay down my jaw locks up and I can’t open my mouth. When I’m up it always pops on the right side opening and closing my mouth while talking and chewing. I would like to know why it does this and what is causing this and if it can be treated. I am in pain everyday with this problem and it is very frustrating. It started a few years ago and it is getting worse. Please help!! Thanks!!

My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do? There is NO PAIN except when I open my mouth....the jaw hurts, or the muscle in the jaw. Is this from the shots the dentist gave me before he extracted the tooth?

t clenched since and I have never had this issue before, I make sure to be aware during the day and at night i pillow myself in so I can only sleep on my back (when i sleep on my back my mouth falls open) . However in 2005 I had jaw surgery so I have plates in my jaw. I am concerned I may have done some real damage, Should I go to a Maxillofacial surgeon or is it normal for it to take this long to subside?

Good Morning! Just wondering if any of you have ever experienced jaw pain with CM? It started near my ear and has progressed over the last few days. Now the pain is in upper and lower jaw to the mid line. VERY uncomfortable, and I'm not sure what is causing it.

I think I have TMJ, although no dentist has agreed with me, but my jaw clicks and I can see it shift when I open my mouth. So now I have this jaw pain that almost seems connected somehow to my neck -- just not sure if it's a possibility?? And how can I relieve it??!!?? Any input is appreciated!

It is unlikely that eating something could have fractured your jaw, but the pain and swelling is a concern. It could be your jaw or a tooth? An x-ray will help diagnose why you are having the swelling. I would go see your dentist or if you don't have insurence go to an urgent care. Good luck!

Hello, For the part 2 weeks, I have been experiening pain when I open my mouth wide on the right side. The pain is right in front of my ear (upper jaw area). The pain is not there when I talk, chew, laugh..etc. Only when I open wide like to brush my teeth, or bite down on an apple...etc. I don't hear any popping, clicking when I chew, talk o laugh. I am really worried to if I am developing an issue with my TMJ joint? Or something else all together.

She also goes to a chiropractor for them to adjust her jaw. When he does her jaw, he only manipulates her mandible, so it may be ok for Chiari patients to try.

Is it common to have jaw pain after having an Apicoectomy procedure. My procedure lasted for over an hour. It has been about a week now and I am still having jaw pain on one side of my mouth.

I have a strange sensation along my jaw it is like a strong pulse and dull pain. It moves around, along the top of the jaw, underneath the jaw. Comes and goes. I had this about 6 years ago for a few weeks, then it went away, it came back about a month ago, once again lasted a week then left. Both these times I was under stress/anxiety and I put it down to that. This time, it has come back again, but I am not stressed or worried, So I have no idea what it is.

The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. s know if you have ever had braces before, but if so, or if you grind your teeth, there is a very good chance you might have TMJ. It causes severe jaw pain because the jaw is not aligning correctly. If it is, you generally can not open your mouth as far due to tightening or sometimes you can even feel or hear it pop.

I had pain in my jaw too and could not open my mouth to eat more than 1/2 inch. The dentist opened my mouth too wide . This problem went away after 3 days. Next time the dentist did not open my mouth so wide. I have a very small mouth so the average person may be able to handle their jaws to be opened very wide. Next time make sure you tell your dentist not to open it so wide. I think your jaw will get better in time. I would suggest taking Advil due to inflammation. Hope this helps.

Well that was about 3 years ago, lately in the past 6 months i been having jaw pain and sevre discomfort.was told it was inflamation but within weeks i can no longer open my jaw wide. Before i was able to open up about four fingers high now i can only open it less than two fingers. The pain is most severe on my right side, its affecting my right ear. I have strong discomfort in my ear everytime i open my mouth.

I had an incident shortly after where I was trying to open my mouth to eat a cheese burger (tall homemade) when I got terrible pain in my jaw, like a dentist needle in my jaw. Since that incident, I have had pain everyday. I cant even eat right. The pain is worsening daily, yawning is extreamly painful. Swallowing has even been painful at times. I doubt the pain in your jaw is lockjaw, more commonly known as tetanus. Tetanus requires an open wound to enter the body, so if you have no wounds, you do not have tetanus. Do you know when your last tetanus shot was? They are good for approximately 10 years. You would also have other serious symptoms which do not include some minor jaw pain when sneezing. You do know I'm not a doctor, right?

after a routine dental visit my jaw was just sore from the shot that I got in my lower and 5 weeks later I cant open my jaw/mouth more a quarter of an inch without horrific pain.it seems to be getting worse I have gone to the dentist and the doctor it is not TMJ and I am on naproxin and pain killers which dont even help. Nobody seems to know what is wrong does anybody have any answers.

omg my jaw clicks and it hurts alot when I yawn or take a bite of something like a burger or whatever ...sometimes I can't even bite down all the way. It does it all the time, worse this past 6 months or so. It's been happening for about 2 years. it's horrible. what is that??

I cant chew foods or open my mouth slightly, its not extreme pain but its bareable, I feel it. My right ear has an affect on it as well, its not painful and I don't hear any pops but its just weird, I have enough head problems with this cold :/. I tried some of the exercises online for TMJ or TJM whatever you call it lol and it helped a little but now my jaw feels kind of heavy.
