Avatar f tn what ever happened with your jaw alignment problem?? because 2 months after my bottom wisdom tooth removals my jaw looks very uneven and still i have pain and numbness around the area of the removal. i have yet to get an x ray of my jaw but had x rays of the area where the removal took place. im just confused and dont know what to do.
Avatar f tn Hi, Actually, evolution has shortened the lower jaw, thereby making wisdom teeth (or the third molar) obsolete. Many people today are born without them at all. Those of us that have them, if they are crooked or impacted, it's recommended for removal. They can have a direct relationship to the alignment of your other teeth if they have no room to erupt. Not to mention the possibility of jaw bone problems with a tooth trying to erupt directly into it.
Avatar n tn I now am off of my pain meds and over the past couple of nights the bump as slowly started to gravitate up my lower right jaw line toward the back of my jaw. The swelling around it is gone but it is still hard as my elbow and tender if you put to much pressure on it. I can't open my mouth all the way, in fact I'm lucky to be able to open it wide enought to get two finger widths in or my toothbrush. The extractions seem to be healing great and the stiches are coming out now.
Avatar n tn I had my wisdom teeth removed about 1 month ago and a few days ago, I awoke with pain in my left jaw joint. Since then, it hurts to open my mouth wide in the jaw joint and down under my jaw as well. I also have felt a little tingle in my face in that area when I open wide and hear a small click in my jaw. Does this sound like TMJ and could it be related to the surgery? Should I contact my oral surgeon or a dentist that specializes in this?
Avatar m tn A week has gone by from all four impacted wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do?
Avatar n tn Assuming you are referring to trismus after lower wisdom teeth revoval. Trismus may last 2-3 days after surgical procedure of lower wisdom teeth removal. If appropriate antibiotics is administered, trismus tends to resolve after 3 days.
Avatar n tn no i never had a rootcanal its a wisdom teeth removal, the bottom 2 wisdom teeth on my lower jaw they had to cut into my gums and take out the wisdom teeth
Avatar n tn Ok. So you had TWO wisdom teeth removed from the lower and nothing on the upper? I don't think its possible for the wisdom teeth to "jump" to the palate. Try getting your splint adjusted on the top palate area and see if that makes a difference. I wouldn't suggest you stop wearing your splint though because it may affect your TMJ.
Avatar n tn I am having diffculties opening my mouth because of the pain and soreness. What I need to know is this normal to have pain in the jaw area after a wisdom tooth extraction? And if so, how long should I expect to experience this pain?
Avatar n tn You know I may also be TMJ, that's what I have, the worst case. I get pain in my jaw, headaches, sometimes throat pain, and ear pain, and back pain, you'll know if you have it by pressure on your side jaw(both sides) Just my oppinion.
660300 tn?1224790361 Try and stay positive as you could still recover - I read a post from someone on another forum recently that got feeling back after a couple of years. I had two lower wisdom teeth out mid February and was left with a numb toungue, jaw, lip and chin.
Avatar f tn I had my top and bottom wisdom teeth removed May 1st 2013, the dentist told me after he finished ditching me up that he left a "bur" in there and would have to remove it the following Monday when he returned from his dental convention in Chicago! (This was a Friday I had surgery) come to find out a bur is basically a drill bit they use! By Monday I could not even open my mouth half an inch, he could not even get into my mouth and not that I was going to let him attempt to remove it.
Avatar m tn I was suffering from pain near TMJ joint on and off since few day I went to my dentist and he said I am suffering from TMJ disorder due to the wisdom teeth on my upper growing a little sideways and he said since in my case the pain is not too severe he would only go for the wisdom teeth removal when the pain gets too severe and when I start hearing my jaw creak or click. He has given me muscle relaxants for a week.
Avatar n tn I had 2 lower wisdom teeth, and one was removed a month ago. Those teeth would ache when I developed sinus pain from allergies. It was a dull ache, and the sinus pain was much worse. Now the side where the tooth was removed is very painful when my sinuses act up. It hurts into the jaw, and I need pain meds. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn Post-op discomfort after wisdom teeth removal may last weeks. Wisdom teeth are frequent occlusal interference. It's common patients feel the jaw position or bite is different after wisdom teeth removal. This is probably what you described " misaligned". If you do'nt have temporomandibular disorder, the bite will be realigned after a couple of weeks. If you do have tmd problems, seeing a tmj specialist is advised.
Avatar n tn Post-op pain from the removal of your wisdom teeth should not last that long. When they extract the wisdom teeth, they are pretty close to a facial nerve and facial muscles, so it can very well be a problem with the muscle being damaged/torn. Though the wholes where the teeth were are usually present for a long time and can become infected. I'd talk to the oral surgeon who did the extractions. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm wondering if any of the doctors could provide some insight on a concern I have over wisdom teeth removal. I'll try not to bore you with all the details but I got my wisdom teeth removed 5 years ago, at the age of 19, and since then think I've noticed slight facial changes. These are evident outwardly, and in my pre and post removal pano's. The changes include a slightly narrower face/jaw, flatter cheeks, and a more oval as opposed to square shaped face.
Avatar m tn The indicator for this disorder is a shock-like pain from either the ophthalmic, maxillary and mandibular areas. It is possible that it after your wisdom teeth removal the nerves in the mandibular location, specifically jaw, were affected in some way. If this is the case then you'll need to see a doctor for either medication and in extreme cases, surgery. I realize this is very late, but I hope this helps someone in the future!
Avatar n tn I have been on amoxicillan before having the wisdom tooth removed and right after and then on penicillan after the extraction of my molar next to that. I have stitches and I think my muscles in my gums are what is aching from the suitures. I take motrin every 6 hours and am trying to gradually reduce the amount of motrin I take to reduce the pain. I am presently doing 400mg every 6 hours. I think that once the suitures are removed maybe the pain will calm down.
