Avatar f tn Waiting with wisdom teeth that are growing crooked can make the rest of your teeth go crooked as the wisdom tooth tries to push in. It can also give you a terribly nasty infection, pain in the jaw and tmj problems. All in all, I'd say have them out when there are no other problems but the simple tooth removal. Why wait until there is infection and impaction? If they can't get out because of other teeth and they are crooked, they are impacted. They can only cause a problem.
Avatar f tn am I right in assuming that the removal of my wisdom tooth may have caused the infection from the tooth in front of it to spread? I have a tingling feeling through my entire right side of my jaw, up to my lips and below nose. my neck and jaw are swollen and I noticed some blotchy redness... if I don't take nurofen and Panadol the pain is unbearable and stretches from where the infected tooth is to my ear, to the front of my mouth and under my nose. I also have a head ache...
Avatar f tn what ever happened with your jaw alignment problem?? because 2 months after my bottom wisdom tooth removals my jaw looks very uneven and still i have pain and numbness around the area of the removal. i have yet to get an x ray of my jaw but had x rays of the area where the removal took place. im just confused and dont know what to do.
Avatar n tn s young and the teeth are somewhat straight, they may be able to provide antibiotics and see if the roots will move up more and get further away from the nerves. If not, permanent numbness may occur, going from the back of the jaw area to the lip.
Avatar f tn Impacted lower wisdom tooth is rarely the culprit of temporomandibular disorder. However, removal of impacted wisdom tooth yields long term dental denefits.
Avatar n tn 7 years ago I was eating and bit down on my right side. A RADIATING pain shot through my jaw. I went to the dentist and had an x-ray taken. I was informed I had a "cementoma" and that it should not be causing me pain. Long story kind of short visit after visit after root canal after surgically removal of "stubby tooth" after wisdom teeth removal I am STILL having pain.
Avatar m tn it hurts me a lot and makes facial swelling. Please advice what drugs can reduce pain from the wisdom tooth. i dont want to have the tooth out. best regards!
Avatar n tn you could have radiating pain from that, or in fact have another tooth about to go on the spitz to a newer root canal. They have xrays where they inject a dye into the root of the tooth and the Dentist can look for the health of the tooth. I do recall having neck and shoulder pain with my inflammed root. Perhaps you have an infection in the gum or under the incision that is radiating.
Avatar m tn A week has gone by from all four impacted wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do?
Avatar n tn If it's getting worse, I would go back and have them check for a dry socket. Usually the pain from an extraction will get better over time. If it all of a sudden gets worse, we always tell patients they may have a dry socket which is most common when lower wisdom teeth are extracted. It may feel like the upper jaw but this may be referred pain. I would have it checked out because they can pack some medicine in there to help it feel better.
Avatar n tn On 3/21 and got my (lower right)wisdom tooth removed. I followed the instructions that the dentist gave me and took the appropriate perscriptions and pain killers etc. I went back to the dentist on 3/27 to get my stitches removed only to find that my stitches were gone already. (I don't think that they were the kind that dissolves)This did not seem to alarm my dentist at all.
Avatar f tn I highly recommend you looking into getting that tooth removed, you would need an approval from your OB etc. But tooth decay (broken teeth) is linked to premature birth. No reason to continue suffering, look into removal!! Try chewing (slowly) on a whole (or 2) cloves. This could possibly help with pain within 30 mins or so. You can use baby oral gel (teething). Look for benzocaine it's safe and effective in reliving pain for a short period. Continue taking Tylenol!!!
Avatar n tn A broken jaw from wisdom tooth removal is one of the more rare complications, but its still common enough that we are taught about a fair amount about it in school and how to handle it. Its highly unlikely that anything the oral surgeon did would have caused it (except he took out the tooth), especially 10 days later. The only chance of negligence on his part would be how he handles the situation now. But from what you mentioned, he is doing everything he can.
Avatar f tn Permanent sensory deficit occurs less than 1% of of wisdom tooth removal. Most cases resolve within a few weeks, however it can take months and up to a year has been reported. If the condition does not improve within 3 months I would suggest she gets a second opinion from an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who specializes in nerve repair.
Avatar n tn for this he gave me brufen 200mg, amoxicilin 500mg and flagyl 400mg, but still im havig sever pain in my lower left jaw where my wisdom tooth was extracted. when i met my doctor to remove the stiches i complained about my situataion, he said its normal as for the bone beeing drilled.
Avatar m tn Impacted wisdom tooth might be serious at any stage, so you may consider about removal of wisdom teeth. Wisdom tooth can cause some risky dental issues such as pericoronitis, tooth decay, gum disease, periapical infection, etc. Also it can damage the structure of the jawbone. So, don’t delay and contact dentist as soon as possible. Treatment: • Extraction of wisdom tooth. • Radiotherapy. • Reconstruction surgery for impacted jawbone.
Avatar f tn I am 17 and got my wisdom teeth out about a week ago. The pain was horrible and for the first 4 days I took between three and four 5 325 percocets spaced throughout the day. After that, the tooth pain subsided completely. However, the past 3 mornings I have woken up with the worst headaches I have ever had. Is this normal for getting wisdom teeth out or is this a side effect of the Percocet? Is there any reason to be concerned about this?
Avatar n tn hello i took out my wisdom teeth a year ago and since then i got plenty of pains in my jaw and palate (the roof of my mouth).I went to the dentist got a splint and all my jaw pain is gone.I now have pains in the roof of my mouth and i think it is because of my muscles because when ever i make any eye movements or certain jaw movements like biting down and chewing chewy foods i get more pain in the roof of my mouth.
