jaw pain after wisdom tooth pulled

I am having diffculties opening my mouth because of the pain and soreness. What I need to know is this normal to have pain in the jaw area after a wisdom tooth extraction? And if so, how long should I expect to experience this pain?

I'm not sure what my topic is .... I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled a week ago. The dentist who pulled them had me awake with local pain killers. The right two were the hardest to get out and they spent an hour extracting them. I knew when they were doing it that they were pulling fairly hard on my jaw and possibly unhinging it as I go to a chiropractor often to get my jaw aligned.

for this he gave me brufen 200mg, amoxicilin 500mg and flagyl 400mg, but still im havig sever pain in my lower left jaw where my wisdom tooth was extracted. when i met my doctor to remove the stiches i complained about my situataion, he said its normal as for the bone beeing drilled.

I am 17 and got my wisdom teeth out about a week ago. The pain was horrible and for the first 4 days I took between three and four 5 325 percocets spaced throughout the day. After that, the tooth pain subsided completely. However, the past 3 mornings I have woken up with the worst headaches I have ever had. Is this normal for getting wisdom teeth out or is this a side effect of the Percocet? Is there any reason to be concerned about this?

I went to the dentist recently and dentist said that I had some decay on my wisdom teeth and that he wanted to pull them to stop infection and spreading he sent me to get an opg xray (I think that's what it's called) and when I went back he told me I had a really bad infection under the tooth in front of my bottom right wisdom tooth and it would need root canal treatment as the infection is really close to the jaw bone...

Go to the dentist. They can pull it for you. If not they can give you something for pain until after you have the baby. More then likely they would just pull it so you don't have to be in anymore pain from it.

But I probably only had pain twice whenh they were coming through, then after that I had no pain at all again. Since getting them out I feel my face suck in when I swallow or eat, I keep biting (& cutting) the inside of my cheeks & Iam feeling numbness on one side of my face.

Anyway, mine were removed two at a time, top first followed by the bottom and like others it was just novacaine during extraction and over the counter Tylenol afterwards. The worst pain for me was actually in the jaw muscles from being held open while the teeth were pulled. The actual "hole in the mouth pain" was pretty much nothing. Don't worry about it, if it happens you'll be fine. One last thing.

I have an impacted wisdom tooth. Its been about a week of horrible pain. My neck and face hurt. I think it might be infected. it is after hours to contact a dentist. should i go to ER for help? what will they do?

Hiya I had a wisdom tooth pulled under general anaesthetic (not asleep but I was super numb and didn't feel a thing) when I was 18 weeks with my first child. She is now 4yo.

So, just about recently the right side of my jaw has been hurting due to my wisdom tooth coming in. I'm 34 weeks pregnant & I want to be careful what I do in order to suppress the pain I'm dealing with. I was told to take Tyleno, but does anyone know if it is okay to take & does it work?

Hi there I'm 46 year old w/f and nobody can figure out my problem. On my right side under my wisdom tooth in neck fell's like it's so dry and like someone is sucking all the moisture out of that one spot. Back in July I had this wisdom tooth out and I heard something click in my neck told the o. suregon said nothing then he treating me for dry socket but it keep's getting worse every day. It feel's like I just want to put a screw driver in there and pull it out.

The only thing I can think of off hand is maybe checking into getting some antibiotic to take just to ward off any chance of infection as that could send you into a relapse.

Well I had my wisdom tooth pulled on Monday.It had to be the worst experience.After 2 1/2 hrs of grinding,pulling,pushing and cutting,the doctor gave up and had to send me to someone else.My appt was at 9:00 and I left at 12:30.The next dentist couldn't get me in until 3:00.By the time I got to that appt all the numbing shots wore off and they had to numb me all over again.That dentist took another 1 1/2 hours to get it out.

I'm 36-5 and I got my wisdom tooth pulled today. Hoping to be able to eat on Thanksgiving. My back is cramping and I have to sleep in an upright position. Let's just say, everything is harder when you're pregnant.

A broken jaw from wisdom tooth removal is one of the more rare complications, but its still common enough that we are taught about a fair amount about it in school and how to handle it. Its highly unlikely that anything the oral surgeon did would have caused it (except he took out the tooth), especially 10 days later. The only chance of negligence on his part would be how he handles the situation now. But from what you mentioned, he is doing everything he can.

what ever happened with your jaw alignment problem?? because 2 months after my bottom wisdom tooth removals my jaw looks very uneven and still i have pain and numbness around the area of the removal. i have yet to get an x ray of my jaw but had x rays of the area where the removal took place. im just confused and dont know what to do.

Hi, sorry to hear you're in so much pain. I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed and still have a lump in the jaw line with what feel like nerve damage. Every dentist, oral surgeon and endodontist I tell about the lump that pops out, just look at me. It was the same lump, but much larger, that was the reason I had to have the wisdom tooth taken out. How do you know that's lymph nodes and not some kinda of cyst?

2 weeks ago my doctor took out my wisdom tooth and after the procedure I was not able to open my mouth to its full potential I can only open it about one cm wide and the whole right side of my face hurts when I try to open my mouth fully. My doctor wants to put me to sleep to correct the problem. I'm just kind of nervous as to what he's going to do.. Do you think this is a good idea? Also what do you think cause the problem in the first place? Could it be nerve damage?

I had a lower wisdom tooth extracted on 4/16/08. I developed Dry Socket even though I followed all the surgeons instructions. I went back in a week later and he packed the hole. I was told this would elevate some of the pain. It only made it worse. About a week later two large pieces of bone started to erupt around my gums close to the jaw. I went back in to have it looked at again. He had his assistant pack the hole again and sent me on my way.

Ok so I think I will go the full term because I have been active everyday and she not bugging. I get contractions here and there but nothing serious. This wisdom tooth is giving me more problems. It's kicking my butt. When I do contract I feel it from the back to the front. Idk, we will see. I still have to paint the baby room.

Is it a jaw bone infection? After I had the tooth pulled I was put on clindamycin. I went back to the oral surgeon because the pain is so bad and he said it is healing nicely and gave me Percocet and said to give it a couple more days. It has been a week since I have had the tooth pulled and the pain is getting worse. I am taking 2 Percocet (325) every 4 hours and that isn’t taking the pain away. Only lasts about 2 hours. I can’t live like this, it is terrible. I don’t know what to do.

yes....after i had my wisdom tooth extracted, it felt like my jaw had been broken! unexplainable pain......im horrified, and very depressed.....this shouldnt happen to anyone....i went to a reg. dentist my neighbor recomended , he said he's nearby, and pulls teeth, so i thought, ok, i have no vehicle (from being in car accident last dec.) my tooth is bothering me, so, i went.....BIG MISTAKE.....what am i supposed to do? i've lost a lot of weight too, from not being able to eat....

Now recently, mt lower right wisdom tooth is doing the same thing. My jaw has been feeling a little stiff and hurts when I open wide. Now, my mom is supposed to be scheduling an appointment for me to get my wisdom teeth pulled after finals, which is in like 20 days. I am starting to fear I have waited too long. i dont understand i had a seizure last night in front of my whole family and kids and last week i had a wisdom tooth pulled and a year ago exacty a year ago a week latter a seizure and if this is a common problem since obviously it is or we wouldnt be here i have a baby a 10 15 16 year olds what if i had been driving my kids in my car my husband took me or maybe i should say forced me to go the RN told me after i told her i thought it was my tooth that was very unlikly so im glad this site is he

going in on friday to get an upper wisdom tooth pulled. can't afford the sedation so just opting for a local. never had a tooth pulled before, hopefully i'll be fine? tooth is already out of gumline. any insight would be appreciated, just nervous here. thanks.
