Jaw pain from wisdom tooth

Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain from wisdom tooth

Avatar n tn If it's getting worse, I would go back and have them check for a dry socket. Usually the pain from an extraction will get better over time. If it all of a sudden gets worse, we always tell patients they may have a dry socket which is most common when lower wisdom teeth are extracted. It may feel like the upper jaw but this may be referred pain. I would have it checked out because they can pack some medicine in there to help it feel better.
Avatar f tn hope you can help... I went to the dentist recently and dentist said that I had some decay on my wisdom teeth and that he wanted to pull them to stop infection and spreading he sent me to get an opg xray (I think that's what it's called) and when I went back he told me I had a really bad infection under the tooth in front of my bottom right wisdom tooth and it would need root canal treatment as the infection is really close to the jaw bone...
Avatar n tn for this he gave me brufen 200mg, amoxicilin 500mg and flagyl 400mg, but still im havig sever pain in my lower left jaw where my wisdom tooth was extracted. when i met my doctor to remove the stiches i complained about my situataion, he said its normal as for the bone beeing drilled.
Avatar n tn About a month ago i had a wisdom tooth taken out. It was healing ok but 5 days ago while biting a sandwich my jaw made a loud popping sound and since then i am not able to open my mouth more than an inch. i also have alot of swelling. What coul this be?
Avatar n tn Wisdom tooth pain can radiate and cause a lot of problems, especially if they become infected or are impacted. Fillings can also be sensitive after having them done. Especially ones where a white filling material is used due to the bonding materials used during treatment. It is reasuring that you Dentist has taken xrays which shows there is no apical infection present or any decay. If you still have problems I would go back to the Dentist you saw.
Avatar f tn to whom it may concern, I am a 23 year old female with left lower mouth pain where the wisdom tooth should be, i went to an oral surgeon today who said he thinks its tmj but told me that the left lower wisdom tooth is impacted and in the bone near the jaw, im am thinking that it is my wisdom tooth that is causing the problem but he doesnt think so. he thinks its tmj what do any of you think it is.
Avatar n tn I have a hard knot/lump on my lower right jaw bone behind my wisdom tooth which is still there. I noticed it yesterday and it makes it hard to close my mouth or eat on that side and it's painful. I just wanted to know if anyone might know what it could be. I have jaw pain from time to time which makes my wisdom tooth ache because I have TMJ, so my doctor told me last year. If anyone has any ideas let me know.
Avatar n tn I told them of the pain in my jaw as they were yanking and pulling but they said the bottom right was on a nerve and that was what was causing the pain. They sent me home and three days after the extractions, I noticed a very hard bump in my lower right jaw about an inch from my mouth that was hot and tender to the touch. I called them and they said it was probably muscles that were just tense and to keep taking my pain meds.
786396 tn?1379366191 The pain is from the same side where the wisdom teeth are coming in. The pain is always in the same location. The pain is not spread out. It's more of a pin point. Located at a muscle/arch/nerve that if you put your finger in the corner of your mouth you can feel it naturally. The pain is located at the end of the arch/column. thank you doc for replying to my questions . please let me know what u think.
Avatar f tn Waiting with wisdom teeth that are growing crooked can make the rest of your teeth go crooked as the wisdom tooth tries to push in. It can also give you a terribly nasty infection, pain in the jaw and tmj problems. All in all, I'd say have them out when there are no other problems but the simple tooth removal. Why wait until there is infection and impaction? If they can't get out because of other teeth and they are crooked, they are impacted. They can only cause a problem.
Avatar n tn You know I may also be TMJ, that's what I have, the worst case. I get pain in my jaw, headaches, sometimes throat pain, and ear pain, and back pain, you'll know if you have it by pressure on your side jaw(both sides) Just my oppinion.
2189355 tn?1339190167 Go to the dentist. They can pull it for you. If not they can give you something for pain until after you have the baby. More then likely they would just pull it so you don't have to be in anymore pain from it.
Avatar m tn it hurts me a lot and makes facial swelling. Please advice what drugs can reduce pain from the wisdom tooth. i dont want to have the tooth out. best regards!
Avatar n tn ve been experiencing severe tooth/jaw pain in my left jaw area. Back in October I had a cleaning and some xrays done, which showed nothing but an old amalgamate filling. The dentist replaced it with a composite filling, and all was fine. I had been experiencing some minor sensitivity on both sides to cold (sometimes) and sweets, but that's "normal", I guess.
Avatar n tn For a couple of months now, I have been experiencing pain/pressure on the right side of my face-sinus, ear, and back of my jaw-that would come and go. I also had a wisdom tooth that had recently cut through on that side so I figured that was the cause. I went to a dentist to see if she thought anything was wrong with my wisdom tooth, but she said that it was pericoronitis causing my pain. She gave me a referral to an oral surgeon anyways since it was so far back that it was difficult to clean.
Avatar f tn what ever happened with your jaw alignment problem?? because 2 months after my bottom wisdom tooth removals my jaw looks very uneven and still i have pain and numbness around the area of the removal. i have yet to get an x ray of my jaw but had x rays of the area where the removal took place. im just confused and dont know what to do.
Avatar f tn Trismus is a common complication of lower wisdom tooth or molar extraction. If appropriate antibiotics is administered, it tends to resolove within 72 hours.
Avatar n tn s young and the teeth are somewhat straight, they may be able to provide antibiotics and see if the roots will move up more and get further away from the nerves. If not, permanent numbness may occur, going from the back of the jaw area to the lip.
Avatar n tn I got my wisdom tooth taken out 3 years ago and the dentist said I'm fine and I haven't realized it till now but my jaw is still swollen. It looks completely disfigured from the other side. What could be causing this?
Avatar f tn At first I thought it was because of my only grown wisdom tooth because that side of my mouth is where I feel my jaw is locked. That wisdom tooth hasn't bothered me ever since it first started growing, so I didn't think it's because of the tooth. I don't feel anything else, no other pain or symptoms listed for TMJ. I don't know whether to go to a doctor or a dentist, and I don't want to drug myself up on pain killers (like my mom suggests) if it won't fix up my jaw.
Avatar n tn hey all im 15 and i was jus wondering if it was possible 4 me 2 have a wisdom tooth at my age and im having jaw pain and all my molars are loose, could this be causing the jaw pain(it hurts only when i yawn or open my mouth too fast) thx
Avatar m tn A week has gone by from all four impacted wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do?
Avatar n tn t the pain that keeps me from opening my mouth, I physically cannot open it. I can try to get my fingers between my teeth and pull my jaw apart and it just does not work. Fast forward to now, the swelling of my gum has gone down drastically and my cheek is very nearly back to normal. I can finally close my teeth together, wasn't able to do that before. It is still 'pussing' and the pain is still there although less severe. I still cannot open my mouth, though. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn So, just about recently the right side of my jaw has been hurting due to my wisdom tooth coming in. I'm 34 weeks pregnant & I want to be careful what I do in order to suppress the pain I'm dealing with. I was told to take Tyleno, but does anyone know if it is okay to take & does it work?
Avatar n tn SOMETIMES THE PAIN SEEMED MORE LIKE MY JAW BONE, AND TOOTH PAIN. MY DENTIST CHECKED THE BITE, AND TOOK X-RAY. I WENT SEVERAL TIMES, AND HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. I WAS REFERRED TO AN ENDODONTIST WHO BASICALLY DID THE SAME THING. HE SAID THE ROOT CANAL WAS OK (FROM X-RAY) AND IF PAIN CONTINUED, I NEEDED TO HAVE THE TOOTH PULLIED. IN NOVEMBER 2007, MY DENTIST PULLED THE TOOTH. IT WAS VERY LARGE AND BROKE IN SEVERAL PIECES. IT TOOK HIM OVER AN HOUR TO REMOVE THE TOOTH.
Avatar n tn I am a 26-year-old male that has severe pain in upper jaw feels as if it is coming from a tooth on right side of my face. The pain will go away for a month or two and come back in a violet attack. The pain is the worst I have ever felt its feels like a shocking pain in my tooth that last for about 10 seconds sometimes followed up by one or two more quick attacks. When I say pain I mean pain it’s the type that will take a grown man to his knees it make you want to vomit its so bad.
