Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain from wisdom tooth extraction

Avatar n tn If it's getting worse, I would go back and have them check for a dry socket. Usually the pain from an extraction will get better over time. If it all of a sudden gets worse, we always tell patients they may have a dry socket which is most common when lower wisdom teeth are extracted. It may feel like the upper jaw but this may be referred pain. I would have it checked out because they can pack some medicine in there to help it feel better.
Avatar n tn About a month ago i had a wisdom tooth taken out. It was healing ok but 5 days ago while biting a sandwich my jaw made a loud popping sound and since then i am not able to open my mouth more than an inch. i also have alot of swelling. What coul this be?

Said that tooth extraction will be done only after delivery . But I'm in so much pain even after taking medicines. Is there no safe anesthesia that can be used on me during extraction ?
Avatar f tn The pain last for seconds only, I looked in the mirror to see any damage in my wisdom tooth, suddenly the tooth cracked. I ignore it, because the pain subsided, no swollen jaw and face no tooth ache at all. But after two days I started to feel sick, severe dizziness as if something is eating my energy inside my body, i feel pressure at the back of my head. Extreme fatigue, muscle ache and weakness, GERD, spaced out, balance problem.

1809287 tn?1316744936 afterwards, i felt somewhat okay, but about two to three days after i started to feel this uncomfortable pain in my lower jaw bone. the pain is felt in my jaw, my throat, my temple, my neck and my ear. i am having constant headaches. the painkillers do help to ease the pain and discomfort throughout the day, but at night it becomes intolerable and extremely uncomfortable, making sleeping quite the chore. i have been in pain for a few days now, and am worried as to what it may be.
5789562 tn?1374459029 So I had a wisdom tooth extraction(32) that was complicated. The tooth had to be broken in order to remove and the nurse had to hold my jaw in place while the dentist struggled to extract the tooth. Its been 5 days already and the swelling, bruising and pain are excruciating. I just finished taking all the antibiotics the dentist prescribed and I still can't eat anything solid. How long should I give it before seeking medical help for the continuing swelling and pain?
Avatar f tn I have braces on my upper jaw and I just got my lower wisdom tooth extracted, its been 5 days, the swelling did go down but I can notice that my face has changed. Do extraction of wisdom tooth make the face fat ? Thnk you.
Avatar f tn I then went to the oral surgeon a week later for a consultation. He said I had bone loss near the wisdom tooth from the infection, which scared me. He told me to wait to take another dose of amoxicillin until the day before the extraction. My jaw is currently hurting right below the lower left wisdom tooth. Does this mean the infection has returned from the first dose of amoxicillin and if so, am I still ok to wait until a week from tomorrow to have the tooth extracted?
Avatar m tn Hello I'm here because I had a wisdom tooth extraction on all 4 wisdom to which were impacted It's around 3 weeks since my surgery and in having a lot of jaw stiffness it lasts the whole day in wondering if this is because of the surgery and is this normal to happen
Avatar n tn So lets say the tooth which is to be removed from lower arch. The tooth from the upper arch, directly opposite the removed tooth will try and occupy the space underneath. All of this may lead to incorrect bite, which may lead to even more problems with TMJ you are already having issues with. I would call the office and ask the prices on RCT vs extraction (+ possibly a bridge or implant cost). I would also look into the second opinion.
Avatar m tn bone flesh is accessible from the centre of teeth.there is pain when food is struck between it otherwise there is no pain. half of the tooth has decayed to lowest level .dentist adviced me to extract it.should i go for it or can wait for some time.
Avatar n tn I told them of the pain in my jaw as they were yanking and pulling but they said the bottom right was on a nerve and that was what was causing the pain. They sent me home and three days after the extractions, I noticed a very hard bump in my lower right jaw about an inch from my mouth that was hot and tender to the touch. I called them and they said it was probably muscles that were just tense and to keep taking my pain meds.

Avatar m tn And now before I came across this I did some research about it and I have found alot of things of people having the same problems with the dislocating jaw. But my absolute main question is this due to the extraction of the wisdom teeth?? Like from opening my mouth a little too wide that they done damage??? As the surgeon said himself my teeth were the most difficult he had encountered removing.
Avatar f tn I have had periods where the gum around the tooth swells and i get a lot of pain, the day i went for the extraction it was getting ready to swell again.
Avatar f tn Hi, Hoping you can help me....my mother just had her lower wisdom tooth removed in the hopes it would alleviate some pain she's been having in her jaw, also because her jaw does not open very wide. The surgery was 10 days ago, she is still in pain, and has experienced numbness that has not gone away. Her right side of her tongue is still numb. She was not told there was a possibility that the numbness could be permanent until "after" her surger.
Avatar f tn what ever happened with your jaw alignment problem?? because 2 months after my bottom wisdom tooth removals my jaw looks very uneven and still i have pain and numbness around the area of the removal. i have yet to get an x ray of my jaw but had x rays of the area where the removal took place. im just confused and dont know what to do.
Avatar f tn My cheek was prodded at and held open for an entire hour and a half while the students looked for guidance from the doctor while working on me, till he finally stepped in and removed the tooth. Apart from regular wisdom tooth extraction pain, I am now dealing with extreme pain from the hematoma site and I am very scared as to what the consequences of this might be. Is there any way that this could be dangerous? Will this still heal properly after all of the aggravation to it?
Avatar n tn On 3/21 and got my (lower right)wisdom tooth removed. I followed the instructions that the dentist gave me and took the appropriate perscriptions and pain killers etc. I went back to the dentist on 3/27 to get my stitches removed only to find that my stitches were gone already. (I don't think that they were the kind that dissolves)This did not seem to alarm my dentist at all.
Avatar f tn Your headache is more than likely due to the extraction of your wisdom teeth. Your jaw was open extra wide, and the muscles leading from there to your head could be spasming or understandably sore.
