Avatar f tn It would help if I had a list of foods to go grocery shopping for, and what I could or couldn't eat.
874521 tn?1424116797 no commercial cat food is without its drawbacks, but the list is of some of the companies that go the extra mile to either use no grains or minimize them ant other plant-based 'fillers' in their foods. And use MEAT as the primary ingredient NOT a meat by-product. the listed foods are also void of any questionable preservatives such as BHA, BHT and ethoxyquin. they also do not contain soy, wheat or corn. the list is not comprehensive. these are a few examples of higher quality products.
Avatar f tn I know we are to avoid them, but the contents of the list changes with each list I see. One list says white potatoes then another list of good foods for FM has potatoes on it. I'm confused. I get the feeling you may know. I've been drinking Viva Acai juice daily also. What do you think of that? I assume you have FM.
Avatar m tn Now multigrain products are available in the market a lot and people go for that thinking that they are very good for health. Is there any studies conducted regarding the issue. Some people think it's not good to use multigrain pdts. I don't know the reason for there contention also.
1657684 tn?1307375035 Tuna out of a can is not good, it has alot of sodium, and milk, cats usually can not digest and it can give them diarrhea..also Grapes, raisins, chocolate can be very bad for your cat. Please consult with your vet as what cats should not eat, only warning is alot of vets recommend Iams or Science diet for animals as the choice for feeding but I believe there are alot better cat foods out there as I listed above... What you need to look at is the first five ingredients..

172023 tn?1334672284 Quinoa (pronounced KEEN-wa), is a wheat and gluten free grain (ok, technically a seed, but is so grainlike we are including in the grain group) from the Andes Mountains of South America. Quinoa was one of the three staple foods of the Inca civilization. The other two were corn and potatoes. Quinoa was known then, as it still is today, as the Mother Grain. Quinoa is a complete protein.
Avatar f tn The reason is, theories on what to eat are as many as there are nutritionists and cultures, but most people agree on what not to eat. I will say that wild cold water fish and fish oil are the first foods you should consider, as they will help build the good cholesterol, HDL, and also help your blood sugar metabolism. Green vegetables are very good, wheat grass would be very useful.
Avatar f tn My doctor just told me that she will not prescribe any more than 2 grains of Nature-throid because the thyroid can only use 2 grains. I am much better on 3 grains (of course she doesn't know I have been taking that much and I will run out). Does anyone know if 2 grains is the limit?
Avatar m tn -( Barley water is also often used on any products with sprouted grains - they often sprout the grains in barley water, where the grains get contaminated, but as it's not an ingredient, it's not listed. Basically, the more processed something is, the more chance there is for contamination. Most gluten free products can be oat contaminated, by the way. They won't have non-GF oats, but they'll often have GF oats.
Avatar n tn I have what look like grains of salt on the palms of my hands. They seem to cluster in groups. They do not itch or secrete any liquid. I can cut them off with nail clippers painlessly, but they always come back. They are really not too bothersome, I am just wondering what they are and if there is any way to get rid of them for good.
767435 tn?1235759815 After checking reactions, they gave me a list of allergens and allowed items. To get to the bottom line, it did not prove anything to me, since the allowed list caused health problems, and I quit the doctor after this and several other tests did not help.
Avatar m tn Lots of vegatables including dark leafy greens, whole grains, and a reasonable amount of fish especially those which have the omega fatty acids. The book named "Superfoods" has a good list and I think these are commonly listed online. If you remember to blink more and look away from your computer occasionally, you will improve regarding your blurriness. Keep the ambient air more humid and try some artificial tears.
Avatar n tn It would seem like a good idea to implement the use of the food diary, in order to keep track of the calories, carbs (both simple and complex), protein, etc. This will let you see at a glance if there are areas in which you might need to add foods (veggies, maybe) or cut back (saturated fats). There are also websites from which you can get lists of foods that are low on the glycemic index (those which do not raise your blood sugar quickly). Hope this helps.........
Avatar m tn I read that article and the 15 foods that people with diabetes should avoid. The article makes sense when it says to avoid sugars, sodas, processed foods, and white flour products. The inclusion of grilled meat, is not the meat that is the problem, but if that meat gets burned.... Coffee??? it's not coffee that is the problem its when the coffee has lots of added sugar. The article is still pushing the mantra of limiting saturated fats and eating 'healthy whole grains".
Avatar n tn Here is a list of gluten-free grains that you can try that are most often found in the bulk foods section of your grocery stores that have this available: WHOLE GRAIN RICES (steer clear of that one called glutionous rice. Whole grain is best because it has fiber, which we really need), QUINOA (For information on how to prepare this grain and some recipes to try, check out care2.com and go to healthy living. Then, type in the key words, such as quinoa or quinoa recipes.
Avatar f tn Multi-grain and whole grain breads have added grains/seeds, such as oatmeal, and sesame seeds. The label will list the additional 'grains'. All fibers foods, fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grain baked goods, brown/wild rice, wheat pasta, oatmeal, and whole grain cereals are the best for our bodies regardless if you are a diabetic or not. They give the body fiber to help regulate colon movements, and helps to keep the blood sugars much more even.

Avatar f tn A few comments have been posted recently referring to diet sensitivities in those with Lyme, and going gluten-free was mentioned recently as well. I got a bad systemic yeast infection a year or so ago, and part of treating it was to clean up my diet, very strict at first, but now I eat vegetables, fruits, some grains, and protein, but no dairy and no wheat.
Avatar f tn I take 8 grains of thyriod -s. I was taking 8 grains armour and went down hill when they changed the fornula. Avatar m tn T3 is the active hormone in your body and your FT3 level looks fairly good at 64% of its reference range. However RT3 is high, at the top of its reference range. So the amount of RT3 is higher than normal in relation to the amount of Ft3 that you have. For the sake of argument let's say that the midpoint of the RT3 reference range (22.0) is "normal", then your reading of 32.9 is 1.5 times normal.
Avatar f tn Whole grain is OK! Eat lots of fresh and raw veggies. Apples are good. Cinnamon is known to reduce blood sugars as is garlic. eat lean proteins like salmon tilapia and chicken and turkey.
581310 tn?1253029550 Yes I take a similiar supplement package. The B's are super important. The package you list above does have good supps, but what are the doseages of the vits and minerals. Hypothyroidism will deplete the system so much that something that has minimal dosages are just a tease for us. I encourage you to google the "Fatigue to Fantasic" supplements available from Enzymatic. Recently I swtiched over to that because I got tired of swollowing all those pills.
Avatar m tn eventually (and post solved the problems of sync), if you could be interested, I could try to do in my spare time a translation in italian of MyDietDiary and of the areas of MedHelp functional to insert data via WEB ...
