Nodularity is one of the defining characteristics of cirrhosis; one of the characteristics they are looking for to give that designation of 'cirrhosis'. The literature I've found (just stuff on the net) does not indicate if it appears early or whether it's taken a long time to develop. I think you'd have to have some pretty good modern hepatology textbooks to find that information. I'd guess it shows up in early cirrhosis as well as more established cirrhosis.
I have read through many of your replies and FAQs and am trying to boil them down into a risk-ordered list of activities applicable to me. I want to make informed decisions and would appreciate your comments on the following:

Just like any other characteristics you are born with, the amount of sleep you need to function best may be different for you than for someone who is of the same age and gender. On an average it ranges from 7-9 hrs for an adult.
As long as you are fresh on awakening and do not have excessive daytime sleepiness, your sleep is adequate.

This was inspired by the post about the 'miracle cure' for MS. These kind of schemes really make me mad. It's difficult to know if she's nuts, or if she's just a straight up crook. You'll find books like these perporting to be able to cure just about every debilitating condition.
I also meant to ask if you've had any vitamin/mineral tests done, such as Vitamin B-12, D and Ferritin. These are all necessary for the proper production/metabolism of thyroid hormones. If you've had any/all of them tested, it would be good it you could list their results, with reference ranges so we can see where each of them are. Just being "in range" isn't good enough.
The good news at this point (24 weeks) is, the radiologist definitely would have been been able to see other markers, if they are there. I have a long list of markers that can be helpful for you if you would like to have it. I have passed this list on to many mommies and they have asked their U/S tech to look over these areas when they are concerned about Ds.

Having said that, the photos do not show a mole with typical characteristics of melanoma. This mole or birthmark appears to be very flat against the rest of your skin, which is not usually the case with melanoma. You can find pictures all over the internet showing typical malignant melanomas - this one seems to lack the irregularity in color and texture of a typical cancerous mole.
You may want to just watch it for awhile, because cancerous moles tend to change.

i know percentages are low and i didn t check ultrasound every 6 months for most of my life too, but we dont know who will fit in the low percentage and somebody will have to
so do not skip this step because liver cancer grows so fast that after 6 months from development it is not treatable anymore.
Every so often I like to post a list of commonly sold herbs and botanicals that are harmful to our livers particularly so if the liver is compromised by disease. One of the botanicals listed below, valerian, has been mentioned several times here lately. The "all natural" sleep potion sold on TV ( Alteril ) has valerian as one of its 3 ingredients. It used to be in the original Sleepy Tyme tea from Celestial Seasonings but they took it out years ago.
There are a variety of kinds of bipolar and with some the depressive aspects are more evident. Lamictal and Abilify are generally a good combination of medications so they should be working. I'm not sure whether the anxiety is anxiety disorder or caused by the medication. I know some medications can cause nervousness or phobia on occassion. Abilify and Zyprexa did that to me but that's not that common but within the realm of possibilities.
- Unintentional weight loss, muscle wasting
- Inconsistent bowel movements (changes from color to mass [solid, loss])
- Facial outbreaks (pimples mostly on the jawline and the corner of the mouth)

Hi. The only objective way to see if your mother has some other sites of metastases is to have these other body parts examined by some imaging procedure. Breast cancer has a predilection for spreading to the other breast, the lungs, liver, bones and brain. Metastases to the opposite breast can be determined by physical examination or by mammography. Liver metastases can be checked by means of a liver ultrasound or CT scan. Brain metastases can likewise be detected by CT scan.
