Avatar n tn I have manic bi polar and i take 6000mg of flush free niacin a day along with 3000mg of vitamin c and i have completely cut out all of my mania. i am on no mood altering medication at the moment except for something at night for sleep. i would highly recommend this regimend for anyone with this affliction.

Avatar m tn It just reminded me that even with an illness, the body gets most of its nutrients from the foods we eat. Yeah, we all want to boost our immune system...and energy...so we are smart to take a multi- but all bodies aren't meant to consume 2,000 calories..and to take a multi- 24/7....if you think about it...it might be smarter to take the multi less often...especially if it doesn't agree with your body. Good luck everyone...and I hope this benefits someone.

I had heard that niacin was hard on the liver, when I mentioned this to her she said "I haven't heard that".... (uh oh) Anyway, I checked and found that someone with liver disease (I have mild inflamation and no fibrosis) should not take over 35 mgs. of niacin per day. This stuff I bought at the drug store has 25 mgs. of niacin.
