lexapro with amitriptyline

I am currently taking lexapro (15mg), and I too get periods of being very tired. I have not taking amitriptyline, but I know that this is an antidepressant that can be very sedating (it is often used as a sleep aid). What does of each meds are you taking? Amitriptyline is also used to treat migraine headaches, so it seems to be helping you in that regard. Have you spoken to your doc about the tiredness? He/she may be able to adjust your dosage.

I was on Amitriptyline-150mg and Topamax 100mg for at least a year for headaches. Within the last three months I was put on Lexapro 10mg and Allerx PE also for my headaches. My headaches are beginning to become under control with steroid injections and I am about to have sinus surgery. My concern is that in the past year I have gained 35lbs. I am a very active person who works out and also watches what I eat. I don't know what to do.

I have been taking lexapro and wellbutrin XL for a few years. I didn't seem to gain weight. About a year ago I was put on elavil to help with IBS. I have gained a lot of weight in the last year. I don't have a scale so I don't know how many pounds, but, I have gone from about a 33 waist pant size to a 36 inch elastic waist being too small. I understand that elavil can cause weight gain. Would the lexapro also be adding to this?

Hi, does anyone know i you can take Amitriptyline and Sertraline at the same time. I have been taking Amitriptyline for a while for depression and pain but 6 weeks ago I suffered a stroke and my depression is worse so was given Sertraline along with the other.

Hey all. I was recently prescribed Amitriptyline for help me sleep at night but I wanted some more information about it. I know I can research online but I get better answers from all of you. You make the answers make sense. LOL! I want to know if this is an addictive medication? I was give 50mg, is that high? It was prescribed to help me sleep and also for pain control. If I take it during the day will it make me so tired I cannot function without going to sleep???

I do take cymbalta and amitriptyline are they SSRI? I suffer with extreme fatigue, muscle weakness, headaches, nerve pain and sleep disturbance. I have tried many many different things without success. I wonder if the radioactive material given to me for the stress test cured my symptoms?

Hey guys, I plan to start Cymbalta (30mgs) tomorrow morning per my pdoc. I have had some very bad experiences with some of the other SSRI's (Zoloft, paxil, celexa, lexapro) as far as sleep/sexual/cognitive disturbances but I feel like some prescription help may (still) be warranted. I just wanted to see what anyone had to say regarding their experiences with this drug.

Neurologist are using amiltriptyline widely. It is the most common antidepressant prescribed by neurologist and especially if they are old. What I recommend for you pain is to talk to your doctor about Cymbalta. It is newer than amiltriptyline with less-side effects. It is so new that some neurologist don't know about it. What is the catch? The high price.

I went to the doctor today for a follow up on how I was doing with the Lexapro that I started on Monday. I told her that I take the Lexapro at night because it makes me tired. I told her that I had been experiencing the nausea, dizzy, but most of that is gone now, but I'm still having anxiety a little more frequently and I'm still not having an appetite. My anxiety was always bad in the mornings, that has not changed, but I'm noticing it more all through out the day.

This did not turn me into a zombie at all, in fact probably the opposite. Lexapro works with seratonin which is a chemical in your brain. Its also known as the "happy" chemical cause it works with your feelings of happiness. Lexapro has great success and is not a real aggressive drug meaning that its not really addictive and side effects do occur, but they usually go away within a week or so. Currently, I am taking Pristiq. Pristiq is my miracle drug.

I am not a doctor. But my neurologist prescribed both 10 mg of Amitriptyline and Imitrex. So I think it should be fine. You can ask a pharmacist or your doctor to make sure. But I am on both of those plus Trokendi XR and Clonazepam.

I use to take amitriptyline and have some pharmacy background. I suggest no drinking with amitriptyline to be on the safe side. Amitriptyline plus alcohol could equal respiratory depression, which means possible passing out or in fatal cases even death. It's just not worth the possible complication even if it is only a 0.10% chance of happening.

I started my taper again! I hope I can get off of this merry go round. I was having horrible pain in my gut for 2 weeks. It seems to be subsiding now. So I cut out 1 15mg oxy pill yesterday. I don't feel great but now it's doable. The urologist I saw told me I had IC. I still don't think I have that. She prescribed me amitriptyline 25mg for pain and sleep. I finally broke down last night and took a half a 25mg pill. I'm terrified of taking another pill and just want to be clean.

i asked the doctor for stronger painkillers for arthritus and he gave me amitriptyline 10mg to take at night, they make no difference to pain but have made me extra anxious (i suffer from panic attacks and have been on citalapram 10mg for 7 months which have done nothing to stop panic or anxiety).

An Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Specialit has prescribed me Amitriptyline 10mg once a day at bed time with Antacid for voice recovery (loosing voice and coarse). I was surprised when the pharmacist explained it as a pain-killer and many in here describe it as Antidepresent. I neither have Pain of any kind nor Depression at all. Then, wonder why Amitriptyline? I am being prescribed it for pain and will admit my mood has changed as I have been dealing with healing process but I don't want to cause any blockages or change my personality drastically. Suppose to pick it up today from the pharmacy but was looking for some feedback first.

I seem to be very forgetfull, at least that's what my husband tells me. I feel confused at times and clear at times. It may go with my mood. I use to be the best speller and can't think of how to spell simple words. I get frustrated. I'm on depakote, Lamictal 100mg, Lexapro, and amitriptyline for pain from my fibromyalgia.

I've been on Cymbalta now for about a year. It has helped my depression and my energy levels. I'm bipolar also, so I'm on lithium. Without the lithium I felt anxious also. I'm on 60mg. of Cymbalta. At one time my doc didn't think the Cymbalta was working and I went down to 30mg. My depression got worse so I went back upto 60. I am feeling much better with the added lithium, my mood is much more even.

Hi, I am a 20 year old male with no personal history of depression or chronic headaches. For the last 12 months I have been suffering from chronic headaches. For the first couple of weeks or so it was on and off and felt like my head was going to explode but would only last an hour or two. At the same time it felt like my personality was gradually getting sucked out of me.

My anxiety kicked off about a month ago before my check up with my primary, but it went really nuts this time for some reason. I take Ativan .25-.50 Ativan when anxiety is bad. Try hard not to take it every day. Even with that, I am having trouble staying asleep. I fall asleep ok, then wake up at random times all anxious. Once my anxiety starts I get all jittery & its downhill from there. . .Do any of you have any recommendations for what to do when this happens?

my dr started me on 2 mgs abilify along with my 30 mgs of lexapro. within a few days the depression began to fade. i did have to make myself get out of bed to go exercise, eat. clean the house. about a week later i was on the mend. i don't have a suport group either. though my husband knows about my depression and anxiety and is very supportive . i try to keep my depression to myself. i just tell family and friends i don't feel well. i do a lot of self talk too.

Can you drink on Lexapro? I do mean DRINKING!! Just being honest. When you go out with your friends and you dont come until 4 am kind or drinking.I've done it and have not noticed anything weird. I understand that does not mean its ok.

t want to be drowsy (a common side effect of Ami). Has anyone had any luck with treating this kind of problem with the same dosage of amitriptyline?
