lexapro

1801781 tn?1461629469 I am having to switch to the generic version of Lexapro as it is now available. Insurance wants the change and I am OK with it as the cost will be less. My question is has anyone been on it and can they tell a difference??
1475202 tn?1536270977 Thanks for sharing Randy! In today's economy we're always looking for generic alternatives to the more expensive drugs...this is good news!!
1475202 tn?1536270977 This med is for depression and anxiety right.
Avatar n tn I agree with mammo, Citalopram which is the generic of Celexa is almost identical to Lexapro. Lexapro is just a newer version of Celexa. Stopping anti-depressants cold turkey can cause severe withdrawal symptoms. I took it for a while and it only cost 4$ at Target.
1475202 tn?1536270977 Thanks Randy. I just got my first refill of the generic. I thought it would cost a great deal less, but was surprised there is not a huge price difference. Every little bit helps though!
Avatar n tn I doubt it. Escitalopram is the generic of Lexapro. I asked my psychiatrist if the generic works any differently, as every now and then you hear of generics not working quite as well. She said there is virtually no difference in the drugs, except for the fact that one is a brand name and one is a generic. However, I recently went through the same thing as you. I'd been on Lexapro for eight years and did so well on it, and out of the blue it stopped working.
Avatar m tn I was just prescribed Zoloft 100mg (generic version) and 1mg of Ativan (generic version) today by my Dr. and was wondering if anyone else has had any success with the two? I am supposed to begin by taking half of a pill of of the zoloft for the first week then to go to a whole week after the first week. I was given the Ativan to help me with my anxiety attacks and also for insomnia.
Avatar f tn My Dr switched me over to generice Wellbutrin last week after having tried the SR version. I quit the SR version in early January, see my post in the archives section, due to a bad itching sensation. I quit the generic Wellbutrin on Sunday.
Avatar m tn It is early days yet. When I took it first difficult symptom was nausea. Cutting out coffee calmed that down. My hands did shake the whole year I was on it. Not noticeable except to my sister. It has helped lots of people, and as you are taking clonazapam you will be fine. A friend of mine is doing very well on Effexor: took 6 weeks for her to come out of her depression and start living her life again. We agree: she will never stop taking it.
Avatar f tn Hi. I was put on Lexapro 10mg for anxiety. Well, my doctor started me with the trial packs. Me being scared of going on the medication split the pills in half and only took 5mg a night. When I went back for my follow up to see how it works, I told my doc what I had done. She said she wanted me to go ahead and move up to the 10mg of Lexapro and wrote me a script.
1325193 tn?1450127436 I have found the generic Lexapro to be very good, and have only heard the usual side effects that all AD's have. But you should mention this to your doctor and see what he says. This all could be from your withdrawal or a combination of both, but you need to let your doctor know what is going on, if just for your peace of mind. Good luck in getting off the Vicodin, I wish you all the best.
1475202 tn?1536270977 Hopefully this will be much more cost efficient and will allow more people to use this med. Thanks for the info poohbear! How have you been by the way?
Avatar f tn It's meant to be a better vision of escitalopram as I'm in the uk they don't do lexapro it's cipralex here I'm on day 5 and no better yet just want things to start working really iv been told up to 2 weeks but can be as soon as 6-8 days the only side effect is the insomnia and not being able to sleep that's why iv been given zopiclone for that but don't want to have to depend on it for a long time, iv been through all this before on many different anti depressants wit
1134609 tn?1269272200 It has been an interesting process, but I think I have finally figured out the medication issues. Here's the lay of the land: 1. I have always been sensitive to medications; they either work for me or the SEs are unbearable. 2. I have never had any luck when I have been placed on the generic brands of medications. Celexa especially; I was on it for 10 years, tried the generic several times and paid for it. 3. I have also been on Neurontin for the past 10 years.
Avatar f tn I have read some who get headaches on the generic version or have tremors. I am not sure if it is the generic verision or if its their own anxieties about taking a generic form? That is the tough part about us anxiety prone people, we can also make our own symptoms at times. Glad you are going to see your doc, I am sure it will help and giving the name brand version a try won't hurt!
Avatar f tn can anyone explain the difference between the brand name Lexapro and the generic brand? i was reading your posts. my boyfriend was on the brand name lexapro and switched to the chemical brand in June. since then he has been spriraling downhill, out of control is there that much of a difference in brand name and off brand?
176495 tn?1301280412 Hello...I'm currently taking 30mg lexapro a day and apparently there is no generic and I have to buy 1 bottle of 20 and one bottle of 10...
Avatar f tn See your doctor for advice on gradually cutting back on Xanax and something more appropriate such as a daily generic version of Lexapro.
Avatar f tn Is anyone out there taking Teva's version of Nexium? I'm to the point now where I can't get the brand. I was astonished to see that this generic version's co-pay through my insurance is so high! $80 for 90 days. I could understand this price for the brand, but for generic? Anyway, I had tried this version as I had to with my last insurance, it and I didn't do as well on it. I tried it for a week. I an wondering if it was just my imagination.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with an Anxiety Disorder. I have been on four different medications; the first one was Lexapro, which made me extremely tired, then Cymbalta which made me extremely paranoid, a generic version of Zoloft, I can't remember the name which I gained 15 to 20 pounds before I realized it was the medicine, and the latest one is fluoxetine(? generic Prozac) which doesn't appear to be helping, I'm still anxious (crabby) so I went off that one as well.
Avatar m tn I have been on Paxil for a few years now after Lexapro stopped working. I now have no insurance and have stopped taking Paxil 30mg daily. I feel like ****, jittery, disorriented, vertigo, etc. I know what its from so I try not to let it get in my head. I've heard stories of seizures from stopping like this. Is this possible. I am very aggitated and go off easily. I'm trying to issolate myself so I dont go off on anyone for no reason.
Avatar n tn You could try switching to Celexa, the earlier version of Lexapro, which is generic and consequently quite inexpensive, and since it's very similar to Lexapro, it might be easier to switch to than Effexor. But I still think if you want to quit a med, quit it before you start another, but if money forces you to switch, Celexa is the easiest switch.
Avatar n tn One difference is that Celexa is available in generic form and Lexapro is not which means theoretically generic Celexa (generic form) should be less costly. Lexapro and Celexa are not interchangeable, and they are not approved for all of the same uses. Both are approved for the treatment of depression. However, only Lexapro is approved to treat anxiety.
Avatar f tn If anyone has any experience with either of these meds escitalopram and lexapro which would you use?
Avatar n tn s a generic for Celexa? My son was taking Lexapro and asked his doctor for the generic version, and she put him on Citolopram, and it's working great for him as well. I've been told that there is no generic for either, but that the ingredients are almost identical.
Avatar m tn My understanding is that Citapram is simply the generic form of Lexapro. My husband has cirrhosis and he was given the green light to take either (currently on Lexapro). It's made him feel better, though it's hard to say whether or not it's made him sleep better. Hope that helps.
