levaquin

Avatar f tn Yes it was since I was with him.
Avatar n tn infection and I was under the impression mupirocin is effective on gram positive bacteria and the Ozaenea is a gram negative bacteria. I wanted to ask if any doctors on here can tell me if this is a good try. I have accepted the fact that I might have to do treatments daily for the rest of my life but I would like to slow the internal destruction as much as possible so I can have a good life.
Avatar f tn I got tested and was given 1 gram of zithromax and 7 days of levaquin. That was on monday night i was treated and then that saturday morning I had unprotected sex with an uninfected partner. Is it possible I could have infected the partner? They told me the zithromax would wipe it out right away but it seems from reading these forums that that could not be the case. I have been active since iwth the same person and now I feel I might have been infected agian.
Avatar m tn In the case of tb, for example, there are 16,000 varients of the bacteria. There are bacteria that are anaerobic and those that are not. There gram positive and gram negative. As for the side effects file a drug reaction form at the FDA site. There are many different reactions to what are similar antibiotics. For example many people tolerate Cipro, a fluoroqinalone and cannot tolerate Levaquin, a similarly structed antibiotic.
Avatar m tn My opinion is that the Levaquin might not be the best choice of antibiotic to cover for the usual microorganisms found in that area (an antibiotic with better gram positive bacterial coverage is probably needed). What your doctors can do to test if the infection is still present is to repeat your CBC (complete blood count). A persistently elevated white cell count with a high proportion of segmenters indicate an ongoing infection.
Avatar m tn Hi, further to my previous question about an encounter with a Thai csw I would value your advice. I asked the doctors but it seems my post was deleted and I don't know why, so I am asking here. I did urine tests and was negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. However there was gram positive cocci (few) present which the doctor has given me antibiotics for. Obviously given the context of all of this I am quite scared again.
Avatar n tn i am taking levaquin, is that a good coverage for my clinical presentation and what is the side effect to expect from this drug.
Avatar f tn But did show a little bit of gram positive cocci? What is gram positive cocci? I’ve been feeling a slight numbness and warm/cold feeling in my leg could it be caused by this? The nurse said there was only a little?
Avatar f tn Bacteria detected in urinalysis are stained with a gram stain and organisms are classified into gram-positive and gram-negative groups and antibiotic treatment changes based on which type the organism is. Also most bacteria have a typical appearance and can be identified on the basis of this appearance. Please let me know what the urinalysis says about the gram-positive or negative organism. The culture medium changes for some bacteria as they do not grow in the standard culture media.
Avatar n tn i was then sent to a urologist and everything came back normal beside a large hydrocele. i was prescribed levaquin for 14 days, that seemed to work. now the second part of the question. 2.) i'm not sure of the cause but was diagnosed with NGU - chlamydia and gonnoreah were negative. i felt like these symptoms came on after about 3 days after an encounter with a woman without a condom, i was treated with doxy and cipro.
Avatar m tn I waited two weeks before seeing my doctor again who prescribed me the same medication. I did test positive for Chlamydia. Again the symptoms receded but again they returned. This time my doctor prescribed Levaquin (7 days x 500 mg) and 1 shot of Ceftriaxone. I was re-tested for Chlamydia and don't have the results yet. I read scary reports of serious side effects of Levaquin. It's potent but has risks which is why it's given only as a second line of defense.
Avatar m tn He then stopped the doxy, gave me one gram of azith, and put me on flagyl (100mg 2x daily) to deal with possible trich. The following day the tip of my penis started to become a little red at the tip, which it was not before. I started to notice minor discharge as well. Pain when urination was lower but still noticeable. I therefore decided to return to see him today. He looked at urine again (3 hours since last pee) and saw a big increase in white blood cells.
Avatar f tn Borrelia is neither gram negative nor gram positive, but in the past, it was mistakenly thought to be gram negaive. Some old publications out there still call it gram negative (incorrectly). Here is a good biological description. http://textbookofbacteriology.net/Lyme.html Bartonella has been known to cause skin lesions. Have you been tested at IGeneX for it? You might want to get tested for both b.henselae and b.quintana (I don't know who offers tests b.quintana.
Avatar n tn I had a brief unprotected sexual encounter two weeks ago and went to a clinic today whereby they gave me a blood test for Chlamydia. The results were positive. I have no discharge or pain at the tip of the penis as I have read. While I plan to get a urine test. Should I be concerned about the positive blood test?
Avatar m tn Around 4 weeks later I developed a minor case of epididymitis confirmed by ultrasound, the doctor in the ER gave me 1 gram azithromycin and a shot of ceftriaxone. I went to a urologist the following day who said it looked to him like a non-infectious epididmytis but he prescribed me Levaquin 500 mg PO QD x 7 days just incase to cover possible enteric organisms.
Avatar f tn 100000 mixed gram positive flora. What exactly is mixed gram positive flora, gram positive bacteria? also did not do clean catch, I also had routine blood test and when trying o give urine sample the blood was dripping down my are, had to set cup down to clean arm, and did not do midstream. results said probable contamination, why is this?
Avatar m tn I was confused because I knew that nothing got near the tip of my penis except massage lotion. I took some old cefixime, I think a gram, and then 6 days of old doxy, 100 mg twice a day. Still didn't feel normal so after the doxy I took 6 days of levaquin. 500mg per day. At 24 days I did a 10 panel std test. All negative. At 4 weeks I saw a urologist. He examined me and checked my prostate and said everything was normal. 5 weeks after the encounter my throat felt swollen inside.
Avatar m tn We had to make the doctor send us for a sputum test which the gram stain showed moderate gram positive bacilli, moderate gram positive cocci, and few gram negative bacilli, as well as moderate wbc.
Avatar m tn As I browsed the net and read some articles, I have learned that gonorrhea is not gram positive cocci, it is gram negative. Prior to my sexual contact, I experienced a little similar to that like a little difficulty in urinating because I don't drink much water and I took a lot of supplements in the gym like creatine wherein I only learned lately that it can affect your kidneys or can cause UTI.
Avatar m tn One night I was going crazy, so I did some research and talked to some people and said to try levaquin so I called the doctor and got 2 weeks of 250mg fo levaquin, no change yet. Went to the doctors yesterday he did a ultrasound of the prostate and said it did not look inlarged but he said there was some stones in there but that is not a problem. As of right now he gave me more levaquin 500mg this time for 3 weeks.
