Avatar n tn infection and I was under the impression mupirocin is effective on gram positive bacteria and the Ozaenea is a gram negative bacteria. I wanted to ask if any doctors on here can tell me if this is a good try. I have accepted the fact that I might have to do treatments daily for the rest of my life but I would like to slow the internal destruction as much as possible so I can have a good life.
459632 tn?1206391645 He had labs that where negative for h-pylori and a positive gram stain for many gram positive cocci, many gram negative rods, moderate yeast, few wbcs, moderate gram postitive rods from a stool sample. Family doctor had no idea what to do next and has no idea what to do for my brother. His bleeding is increasing and he is becoming severly depressed. He can bleed up to four hours straight with his bowel movements. I am very concerned!!! Any advice or counseling of where to go to next?
Avatar n tn At this point I still had a bit of swelling in the testicle and spoke with my urologist and was prescribed another course of levaquin. ive taken it for 7 days now and see that i am still having the clear discharge and have some discomfort. also, i was also treated for a mycoplasma pnemonia infection about 3 weeks prior and was given clarithomycin for 10 days. i went to a new doctor, because I just moved out of state, and am waiting the results of a urinalysis.
Avatar m tn In the case of tb, for example, there are 16,000 varients of the bacteria. There are bacteria that are anaerobic and those that are not. There gram positive and gram negative. As for the side effects file a drug reaction form at the FDA site. There are many different reactions to what are similar antibiotics. For example many people tolerate Cipro, a fluoroqinalone and cannot tolerate Levaquin, a similarly structed antibiotic.
Avatar f tn The 4th dr who examined me (and who participated in the surgery) did a gram stain of my discharge but was not bothered of the gram negative rods in the lab result. Her senior who reviewed my lab results, prescribed taking of metrodinazole and thats barely two weeks before my scheduled operation. After the operation, the doctors told me that surgery wasnt necessary, and I could have just treated with antibiotics. They prescribed clindamycin (4x/d) and doxycyclin (2x/d) for two weeks.
Avatar f tn The word coccobacillus is derived from coccus (spherical) and bacillus (elongated). Coccobacilli rods are so short and wide that they resemble cocci. Haemophilus influenzae and Chlamydia trachomatis are coccobacilli. Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans is a gram negative coccobacillus which is prevalent in subgingival plaques. Acinetobacter strains may grow on solid media as coccobacilli.
Avatar m tn He then stopped the doxy, gave me one gram of azith, and put me on flagyl (100mg 2x daily) to deal with possible trich. The following day the tip of my penis started to become a little red at the tip, which it was not before. I started to notice minor discharge as well. Pain when urination was lower but still noticeable. I therefore decided to return to see him today. He looked at urine again (3 hours since last pee) and saw a big increase in white blood cells.
Avatar f tn I got tested and was given 1 gram of zithromax and 7 days of levaquin. That was on monday night i was treated and then that saturday morning I had unprotected sex with an uninfected partner. Is it possible I could have infected the partner? They told me the zithromax would wipe it out right away but it seems from reading these forums that that could not be the case. I have been active since iwth the same person and now I feel I might have been infected agian.
408999 tn?1302203989 In the same day I have the result of the blood and the urine from the laboratory and I report it to him he told me that the blood is normal but in the urine result the pus cell it was 25-30/hpf so he give me prescription a ciprofloxacin 500mg for seven days two times a day and doxycycline 100mg for 6 days. The culture and sensitivity-gram stain result of pus will be 3 days.
Avatar f tn You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.
Avatar m tn 2 weeks later I started to have urinary issues and went to my physician and he gave me 1 gram of Zithromax and 10 days worth of Vibramycin to clear up any possible infection of gonnocual and chlamydia bacteria before the urine and blood tests came back, which was negative by the way, also about a month and a half later I started having a problem of excessive frequent urination: so bad sometimes that I would go to the restroom to urinate and then 2 minutes later I would have to go again, a littl
Avatar m tn Other risks he said were not valid with no apparent viral sores on mouth of partner. Took the Flagyl and 4 days of Levaquin and resumed contact with normal monogomous partner. Partner later developed what GYN called a bladder infection with horrible back pains and frequent urination / urgency. She rcvd, Nitrofuran mono 100mg and took several days...did not work. Went to PCP and he gave her 6 days of Levaquin 500 mg and 5 days of Flagyl 250 mg 3 per day. That seemed to clear her up.
Avatar n tn I was treated by my PCP with a one week dosage of Doxycicline(unsure if thats the correct spelling) and when that didnt work, a one gram powder package of arthrymiacin(also unsure of the spelling). I have since been back to my PCP to be tested approx a month ago which came back negative... And then I went to another doctor approx a week ago for a test just to be sure, and it also came back negative. The problem is...

Avatar f tn Bacteria detected in urinalysis are stained with a gram stain and organisms are classified into gram-positive and gram-negative groups and antibiotic treatment changes based on which type the organism is. Also most bacteria have a typical appearance and can be identified on the basis of this appearance. Please let me know what the urinalysis says about the gram-positive or negative organism. The culture medium changes for some bacteria as they do not grow in the standard culture media.
Avatar n tn Coccobacilli are rod shaped bacteria, but they are short and fat, so that they look like a cross between rods (bacilli) and spheres (cocci). There are many types of coccobacilli including Haemophilus influenzae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Acinetobacter species, Pasteurella multocida, and a number of others. They are usually opportunistic pathogens, causing no problem until the other flora of the region are disturbed. All of them respond to antibiotic treatment.
Avatar n tn The typical symptoms of prostatitis are fever, pelvic, testicle, or rectal pain, frequent and painful urination and ejaculation and incomplete emptying of bladder. In addition to the antibiotics, use medications to help relieve bothersome symptoms, such as alpha blockers to relieve urinary symptoms and anti-inflammatory medications for pain. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.
Avatar m tn Around 4 weeks later I developed a minor case of epididymitis confirmed by ultrasound, the doctor in the ER gave me 1 gram azithromycin and a shot of ceftriaxone. I went to a urologist the following day who said it looked to him like a non-infectious epididmytis but he prescribed me Levaquin 500 mg PO QD x 7 days just incase to cover possible enteric organisms.
Avatar n tn s say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose. My question is this: will I still be able to transmit any infection that I may have right now? Or will the Levaquin have made it so I am no longer contagious?
Avatar n tn The sensation got worse and I went to an urgent care center and was given bactrim and told I had a uti. This was despite a negative urine culture, so obviously the bactrim did nothing. I then went to a urologist who took a urine sample and again it was negative. He gave me a DRE to check my prostate and said “it’s not too bad.” I’m not sure what that meant but he said I had prostatitis and gave me a 10 day cycle of cipro. The cipro took away all the symptoms in about 4 days.
