Avatar f tn Dr, Thank you for your answer! It is helpful indeed. OK,I've been surfing the Internet trying to educate myself on the subject and to better understand my test results. I think maybe I was wrong to say I was not tested for gonorrhea......
Avatar m tn The antibiotics prescribed are covering both gram positive and negative bacteria. It could sometimes be due to anaerobic infections. They are usually treated with metronidazole. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar m tn Hi, further to my previous question about an encounter with a Thai csw I would value your advice. I asked the doctors but it seems my post was deleted and I don't know why, so I am asking here. I did urine tests and was negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. However there was gram positive cocci (few) present which the doctor has given me antibiotics for. Obviously given the context of all of this I am quite scared again.
Avatar f tn But did show a little bit of gram positive cocci? What is gram positive cocci? I’ve been feeling a slight numbness and warm/cold feeling in my leg could it be caused by this? The nurse said there was only a little?
Avatar m tn Levofloxacin is not the preferred drug for NGU-either a single 1.0 gram dose of azithromycin or doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7 days are recommended therapy for NGU. Levofloxacin will probably work however and is a good drug for prostatitis.
Avatar m tn Went to the doctor because of odd symptoms maybe like a month and a half after i contracted the disease and tested positive for chlamydia, negative for everything else. They gave me 4 pills to take all at once (azithromicin) i believe and 1 pill for gonorreha just in case. Symptoms did not go away. Got retested a month after, chlamydia tested positive again. They prescribed me Levofloxacin for 7 days, 1 pill a day, of which i took the last pill monday. Today we are wednesday.
Avatar f tn Borrelia is neither gram negative nor gram positive, but in the past, it was mistakenly thought to be gram negaive. Some old publications out there still call it gram negative (incorrectly). Here is a good biological description. http://textbookofbacteriology.net/Lyme.html Bartonella has been known to cause skin lesions. Have you been tested at IGeneX for it? You might want to get tested for both b.henselae and b.quintana (I don't know who offers tests b.quintana.
Avatar f tn A week later I went to my gynecologist who ordered some more tests and came back positive for ureaplasma urealyticum. The doctor prescribed azithromycin and two and a half weeks weeks after finishing the treatment, a new test for ureaplasma came back positive again. My doctor ordered a basic antibiogram and it turns out that it has resistance for: tetracycline, doxycycline, erythromycin, azithromycin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin and clindamycin.
Avatar f tn First of all, you were treated not once, but twice. A single 1.0 gram dose of azithromycin is curative for chlamydia, as is 7 days of levofloxacin. In addition, when you started having sex with your new partner (BTW, how do you know she was uninfected?) there was still plenty of both drugs in your system to both be sure that you were no longer infected, that you could not be re-infected and that you could not infect her.
Avatar f tn 100000 mixed gram positive flora. What exactly is mixed gram positive flora, gram positive bacteria? also did not do clean catch, I also had routine blood test and when trying o give urine sample the blood was dripping down my are, had to set cup down to clean arm, and did not do midstream. results said probable contamination, why is this?
Avatar n tn If you indeed have one of these infections, however, the combination of levofloxacin and azithromycin is likely to cure you and your partner. Levofloxacin is not recommended in pregnancy, but azithromycin alone is likely to be effective. Since you have already treated yourself and your symptoms are improving, perhaps nothing more need be done. But you should not assume an STD was the cause of the problem.
Avatar m tn We had to make the doctor send us for a sputum test which the gram stain showed moderate gram positive bacilli, moderate gram positive cocci, and few gram negative bacilli, as well as moderate wbc.
1818084 tn?1317789958 Then he said to test the swab and 1st time it came up with gram negative bacilli and second time with staphylococcus aureus when I asked for culture to do on the swab. Before this tests the doctor gave me 2 medicines 1) cefixime 400 mg 2) azithromycin 1mg but even after that the issue was not resolved. then he gave me cefuroxime 200 mg for 7 days, still the issue was not resolved. then he gave me oflaxacin 200 mg for 21 days still the issue was not resolved.
Avatar m tn The reasons for this have to do with the lack of information on the time course for development of a positive PCR, as well as the fact that positive PCR tests can be falsely positive. On the other hand, when a PCR is combined with an antibody test, the performance is quite similar to the DUO tests. In other words, at ANY time more than 4 weeks after an exposure, if both the PCR and antibody tests are negative, you can be confident that you did not get HIV.
Avatar m tn As I browsed the net and read some articles, I have learned that gonorrhea is not gram positive cocci, it is gram negative. Prior to my sexual contact, I experienced a little similar to that like a little difficulty in urinating because I don't drink much water and I took a lot of supplements in the gym like creatine wherein I only learned lately that it can affect your kidneys or can cause UTI.
Avatar m tn The gram positive cocci is most likely normal bacteria that is present in the area where the swab was collected. Unless the doctor said you had an infection with a particular bacteria, it sounds like skin bacteria. He would have given you an antibiotic if he thought was abnormal. gram positive cocci normally live on skin and in various body sites. If you have further problems such as a very high fever I wouldn't worry about it.
