Avatar m tn Went to the doctor because of odd symptoms maybe like a month and a half after i contracted the disease and tested positive for chlamydia, negative for everything else. They gave me 4 pills to take all at once (azithromicin) i believe and 1 pill for gonorreha just in case. Symptoms did not go away. Got retested a month after, chlamydia tested positive again. They prescribed me Levofloxacin for 7 days, 1 pill a day, of which i took the last pill monday. Today we are wednesday.

Avatar m tn 2) Hard lump in the left testicle from 4 days ago until about today. (I went to the doctor and started levofloxacin, 100mg x3 a day for over 7 days. I live in Japan, so yes, this dosage is 100% correct. I read somewhere that people thought this dosage is not possible). I've been checking all day and it really seemed to have disappeared, but the testicle is still weak and sensitive, so maybe it's possible that 1.
Avatar f tn Chlamydia has never shown resistence to the macrolide antibiotics such as azithromycin nor the tetracylines such as doxycycline. Clindamycin has no effectiveness for treating Chlamydia. Cipro is iffy for both Chlamydia and Enterococcus infections. Ask your Doctor to be sure that the Enterococcus is not a resistent strain , as this is becoming more of a problem, especially here in the US. I hope you are well soon. Take care.
483814 tn?1214311480 IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION FOR LEVAQUIN The most common adverse drug reactions (≥3%) in US clinical trials were nausea, headache, diarrhea, insomnia, constipation, and dizziness. Safety and efficacy in pregnant women and nursing mothers have not been established. Levofloxacin is not indicated for pediatric patients (<18 years of age). Levofloxacin is contraindicated in persons with known hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or other quinolone antibacterials.
Avatar m tn The Gram stain helps to make a rapid diagnosis but it is not specific for chlamydia. Some patients with chlamydia have negative gram stains and only about 40% of persons with gram stains suggestive of chalmydial infection turn out to have chlamydial infection (the others have a variety of other things). As I said, your partner was not treated in the manner recommended by the CDC, the World helth Organization and by nearly every professional organization.
Avatar f tn I have been on the levofloxacin for 5 days now and the testicle ache has gone and come back, along with the irritation under the head. Still no discharge excepting during one bowel movement. My significant other has been suffering from mid month spotting from a low dose pill for months, however this month it is heavier and longer like a full fledged period. Any ideas on what is going on? The only thing I can come up with is a false negative for chlamydia on the initial test.
Avatar f tn Hello, If you are a male, and after a sexual encounter, you have developed symptoms consistent with chlamydia and gonnorhea, and all commonly tested for STD’s are negative, demand that you be tested to mycoplasma genitalium. If you have been through the gambit of doctors, from urologists to infectious disease, and no matter the antibiotic thrown at you, you never get better, demand that you get tested for mycoplasma genitalium.
Avatar m tn He said there is a chance for me to acquire chlamydia, gu, other ngu and herpes. He gave me some antibiotics (Levofloxacin 250mg x 2 for 7 days) to take care of any potential UTI and told me to monitor my penis in the coming time (didn't say for how long) for any herpes symptoms. I was kind of relieved after seeing your posts here. But since I have been told I am at risk it will be nice to get a second opinion from an expert.
Avatar m tn Gave Urine Test again for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Test is negative. Given order for urine test for U. Urealyticum and a Kidneys-Ureters-Bladder Xray. Get the results of both Xray and Urine Culture on Monday 8/25. Questions: How many men usually become cured of urethritis? Could this be something completely unrelated to my sexual encounter? Should the doctor have told me to finish taking the meds? Anything anyone can help me with would be a great help. Thanks guys!!
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with epididymitis. This was one via physical examination and an ultrasound. I had awoken that morning to a slight swelling of the right epididymis and sensation in my right testicle that I would not consider painful. My main concern and cause of anxiety is could this have been caused by an STI? My only sexual encounter was 4 months previous in which I received unprotected oral sex.
Avatar f tn Gyn prescribed Levofloxacin (Tavanic 500mg 1/d for 14d). I was infected with chlamydia before that and was treated with Doxycycline (Vibramycin 100mg, 2/d for 14d), but I had an uncomfortable light sensitivity reaction to it. At the time I had 2 different partners. They both took Roxithromycin (Rulid 300mg 1/d for 14 d), both said they prefered Rulidx1 than Vibramycinx2/d. I know for sure that partn2 completed the treatment, don't know about partn1,(who gave me the infection).
Avatar n tn The problem with blood tests for chlamydia is that they don't tell you exactly which chlamydia bacteria you are positive for, and there is more than one. One causes pneumonia, for example. I can't advise you to treat or not, but perhaps your wife should be tested. This might be a good question for the doctor's forum, if you feel like paying $15 USD.
Avatar f tn I went back for a re-test on the last day of the doxycycline, but still came back positive for chlamydia. So currently I’m taking a 14 day prescription for Levofloxacin. I’m on my 6th day. Still no symptoms. No pain after urination, no discharge, and no testicular pain. My questions are: 1.) Should I be concerned since this is my third antibiotic treatment for chlamydia? 2.) Am I able to drink coffee? I read on some sites that I shouldn’t drink coffee.
Avatar m tn doxycycline 100 mg twice per day for 7 days from 30 days ago, levofloxacin once per day for 5 days (I think; dosage forgotten) And the question is: does this sound like chlamydia? or any other STD in fact? I'm thinking it isn't by the timeframe of last genital sexual contact, and that I took BOTH doxycyclien and levofloxacin which are effective against Chlamydia trachomatis. But I just want to ask here to see what you guys think about the symptoms related to my testes.
Avatar m tn A ran to my gynecologist and asked for an STD test, however due to lack of discharge he only checked me for chlamydia and he did a general swab. I was given azithromycin for 6 days, ciprofloxacin for 5 days and flagyl ovules. I felt fine after the treatment and my doctor told me i did not have chlamydia. My life went on, i only was experiencing a mild yellowish discharge but i didn't really bother about that (too bad, my mistake).

Avatar n tn No distant online source can give as good an answer as evaluation by a knowledgeable clinician after direct examination. It would have been good for you to have chlamydia and gonorrhea testing before you were treated with levofloxacin (Tavanic) -- maybe that was done, but you don't say so. Had one of those been positive, however, it would have had to come from someone other than the escort, given that sex was condom-protected.
Avatar m tn I went to urologist on the 1st day and he gave me cravit levofloxacin for 5 days hence am still under medication. I told him that i had unprotected sex last week (6 days before i went to doctor) and he suggested me to take that medication first and perform another urine test afterwards. Based on own research, there are 3 main possibilities: -Chlamydia -Gonorrhea -Urethritis Could anyone advise or happen to hav the same symptom before? NB: i do not see any green or yellow discharge.
Avatar m tn Last month I was diagnoses with epididymitis (left one). Almost 3 weeks before I had protected sex with prostitute. Test for chlamydia and gonorrhea came out negative and the urine test was clean. I started with antibiotic (levofloxacin 2 weeks). I tested 2 days after starting with antibiotic for Syphilis. It was quick blood test and came out negative.
Avatar m tn About 4 months ago I had protected sex with a sex worker and the condom broke (big mistake). The next day i wake up and my foreskin is swollen like 5x its normal size all the way around(I start freaking out). This subsided next day but then 2-3 weeks later a burning sensation appears at the tip of my penis and has been constant now for 4 months. I have had 2 very mild dribbling discharges and a big one after completion of leprofloxcin.
Avatar f tn s that september and the tests came back fine. just recently i tested positive for chlamydia and i took 4 pills for it last week but funny thing: my urine is still cloudy! is this something i should be worried about because its been cloudy on and off for sometime and im worried that my reproductive organs may be at risk. i've been practically drowning myself in water and it only goes away a little bit. what's going on?
