Avatar f tn My dad is 81 and has chronic pseudomonas infection in his lungs. He also has COPD. This is his 4th round of getting this infection in 3 years. He just got out of the hospital from a 5 day stay 3 weeks ago and did a 10 day pick line antibiotic. His Dr called today and he still has the infection. They are calling it a 4+ pseudomonas infection. (whatever that means). He has done every antibiotic there is (pill form, nebulizer, inhalers and pick line) for this and nothing is working anymore.
Avatar f tn My wife has had chronic sinus infections for years. She was recently advised that a culture shows that pseudomonas bacteria is the culprit this time. However, she was also advised that she is allergic to all of the antibiotics used to kill the bacteria. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn the way to help with pseudomonas is to knock down the biofilm it creates in the gut this will strengthen your immune system dramatically and lessen your symptoms .also zinc supplements help fight pseudomonas .phage therapy is a cure for pseudomonas probably the only thing in existence that will cure chronic pseudomonas unless you can boost your immune system enough d3 supplements are very important.

Avatar f tn Is there anything else that I can do in treating the pseudomonas. I wake up every morning full of congestion in my chest and cough for about 2 hrs in the morning and then through out the day. It is a productive cough. This discussion is related to Pseudomonas.
Avatar f tn I am 45 yrs old and developed acute redness, pain, swelling, and a large hard area on my left breast. I had a temp of 101.3,headache etc but was being treated for the flu. So, I am not sure if the temp was from the flu or breast infection. I saw a surgeon ( who has done 2 benign breast biopsies on the left breast in the past) who did an ultrasound. It showed a large area of inflammation but no specific pocket of infection and 2 cysts that I did not know I had.
Avatar n tn Have you been diagnosed with syphilis through a blood test?
Avatar n tn t work - you will also need 3 injections of Rocephin - 3 days in a row, as this is the drug of choice for pseudomonas. As for not getting your ear wet - you can make a mixture of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol - equal parts and put 3-4 drops your ear(s) after getting water in the ears and this will kill the bacteria. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Recently, I discovered that I have had pseudomonas aeruginosa in my lungs for 9 years. I had thought that I had had this for 2-3 years. It has caused pneumonia that has been difficult to get rid of. I have been a patient at your facility in January, 2009, but no treatment was given to get rid of my pseudomonas. I really want this to be cured and know there has to be a way to cure it, even if it is a clinical trial. I am a 56 year old female.
Avatar m tn I am in in the Air Force and have been deployed to the Middle East for about 4.5 months. I contracted what the doctors seem to think is Athlete's Foot about 3 months ago and have been recieving treatment that started out as Lotrimin cream, then Ketoconazole cream, Anti Fungal Powders, and now I have been on Diflucian (oral anti fungal) for the past 9 weeks.
Avatar m tn Tendon rupture and horrible aches and pains for months can result. People have different genetic tolerances. I can tolerate Cipro, for example, however Levofloxacin caused me terrible problems for almost eight months. Getting back to your question the answer is "probably", but not absolutely positively. . Both medications interfere with bacterial replication, but in slightly different ways.
Avatar f tn I have ALWAUS been very healthy, until this sinus/ear/pseudomonas crap! The Infectious Desease Dr. Ran test on me for mono/ HIV-1 & HIV-2, among many other tests ALL of the blood work came bsvk neg. As of today I had another culture extracted in office to send to the lab, my sinuses are still inflamed and I am starting ANOTHER round of steroids to help. And at least get me thru until next week when I go back to my ENT to see what the results of the culture are.
Avatar f tn different trich infection than the std infection. trichomonas in a trach is not the same as trichomoniasis , the std. if you are washing your hands after caring for this patient , you really aren't at risk for pseudomonas or trichomonas from their trach. If their trach secretions tend to fly out a lot, make sure you are using goggles when suctioning them. Same with it also helps protect you from mrsa too.
Avatar m tn I first blew my nose into my fingers and then scraped my fingers to the edge/top of the collection container (which is actually a urine sample container) and i kept doing this a few times a day for a couple of days. I have found out that pseudomonas live on our skin naturally. I believe its the aeruginosa type. Im stuck right now because I dont know if the pseudomona is actually from my nose or if it came from my fingers. Im pretty sure the staph epidemitis came from my fingers.

Avatar m tn I immediately went to see an urologist, after telling him everything, he gave me a shot of Ceftriaxone at the center vein of the right arm and prescribed me two pills, Azee 500mg and Levofloxacin 750mg, 5 tablets each over 5 days after lunch(azee) and before sleep(levofloxacin). Today is the second day of my course and the burning sensation while urinating has reduced from before but the eyes still stay red throughout the day.
Avatar m tn Sorry, that is something I don't have experience with and not sure if it ties into Lyme disease.
Avatar m tn I believed I had epididmytitis earlier. I took levaquin. Later, I wondered if there could be any chance of contracting HIV. Anyhow, I know that the only way is to get tested, but while waiting for a good time to get tested, as it's still a bit early to get an accurate result, I'd like to ask the question in the title. I know that levaquin is for killing bacteria and that HIV is a virus. Yet, can levaquin indirectly prevent ars symptoms from showing up?
Avatar m tn If Levofloxacin caused peripherial neuropathy will Cipro also if I take that as an alternate?
