Levaquin might not be good for a cold, say. I was on it for two years for crazy infections bc I was unknowingly living in a home with mold. Yes it caused tendon swelling and pain but I’m glad to be alive without pneumonia MMRSA and MMR!

I have taken Levaquin numerous times for bronchial and lung infections. The chief of staff at UAB, Birmingham, Alabama told me to always drink tons of water when taking Levaquin. I drink 32 oz. of water with every pill, and another 32 oz. during the day. Before this, I took Levaquin and had problems with my joints. I do not have a problem at all when I drink the water. Maybe this will help.

m amazed at the common denominator of the use of Levaquin. I had chronic urinary tract infections for 5 years and took repeated courses of that particular antibiotic. Fortunately the infections have stopped but I'm left with many very undesirable side effects. Unexplained pain, ringing in the ears, the list goes on.....but now I read there is a connection to the deflation of my arms and legs???!!! Yes of course age is a factor but this started at 51, as if overnight.

They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.

is there a way to reduce or remove the large scale blackening of my skin, and is this a common side effect of long term antibiotics, such as minocycline or levaquin? Is there a better oral antibiotic (than minocycline) for trteating staphaureas? Should I accept this discoloration?

Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.

physical examination was normal, rectal examination was normal, and ultrasound showed no abnormalities/masses/swelling. I was on Levaquin for 7 days/500mg and this has not really helped. I am not really sure what to do now. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks a lot.

at the same time I was still on the Levaquin...that I feel is important because we were on the Levaquin at the same time for a week. If We had any GC or NGU...that should have been cured concurrently right? From that point she got better with exception of 2 yeast infections which she insists are normal and she does have frequently... and I did not...which leads me to the prostatitis again. But the timing of the prostatitis really has be snagged. On a side note...

Hi. I have been experiencing some really disturbing set of symptoms. I was a healthy and happy 22 year old and now feel almost crippled. I have peripheral neurpathy, horrible anxiety, deppression, nausea, weight loss. I took Levaquin for a UTI infection in November 2009 and didn't have symptoms then. I also had a susequent yeast infection. Do anybody have any idea what could be causing thIs? Thank you and God Bless.

I nearly died from Levaquin. Unfortunately I was given this antibiotic for no real reason and I suffered dearly for it. (but that's another story) I am concerned that some of our veterans have been damaged by the fluoroquinoloes as they were given out like candy to our military personnel.

t recommend that and my doctor has promised to figure out an alternative for future infections. The first time, the serious fatigue and joint pain lasted about 3 weeks total (including the 10 days). The second time it was about 5 weeks. I've heard reports from friends about people with serious/painful side effects lasting months, but everyone I've talked to has kicked the side effects in the end.

Ive been on azythromycin twice and levaquin as well as suprax for gonorrhea even though I tested negative for it. I have taken two tests since and both have come back negative from gonorrhea and chlamydia. Things just dont feel right down there. I have been to a urologist twice, and he thinks I am okay. But I masterbated earlier and it stung a little bit while i tried to hold back an orgasm. I am afraid because that was the one symptom I had along with yellow discharge when I had chlamydia.

Levaquin isn't used in 90% of the country (if you mean the US) for gonorrhea, but it is used frequently for prostatitis. And no, gonorrhea wouldn't show up on a pap smear. It would, however, show up on an std test that the doc might have done along with the pap. You have a clear diagnosis of an infection in your prostate. I would go with that.

I have been sick since the day after Thanksgiving. I have had two ear infections, have taken 3 courses of antibiotics, the last one being Levaquin and Cipro eardrops. I have had a constant runny nose the entire time and recently whenever I blow my nose I have bloody mucus. I also feel congested and am having a hard time hearing. I am also tired a lot, more than usual.

Is there a chance that the initial treatments for my girlfriend and I did not clear up the infection completely? Is Levaquin a treatment for these and would the extended course have cleared these up? I do not have the classic symptoms of either of these maladies but my urinary tract does not feel 100% right. Should I have a follow up STI screening? I appreciate any help you can give.

7 yesterday, called the doc. Had a blood test this am. The nurse called and said that the normal range for whatever they were looking at was 1.5-7.2. Before chemo mine was 6.9 now I am at 0.4 They put me on Levaquin. My question, because their office is closed... what are they measuring?... I was feeling pretty yucky & neglected to ask.

I was on Levaquin (along with normal diabetes and high cholesterol medicines) and I woke up and had big bags under my eyes, a sandy feeling to my skin there and a pronounced red line under each bag that looked like someone had slit it with a razor blade. I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
