Levaquin and kidney infections

Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin and kidney infections

levaquin

Avatar n tn You need to go to the FDA website and file a drug side-effect report. It is hard to say if the cause is the Levaquin. I foolishly insisted on taking Levaquin following some severe infections and I have to say in two words: "Never Again". Twitching, muscle pain, aches for six months.....arghhhh.
565147 tn?1218252591 i have never had problems with my kidneys until the last yr I have had severe kidney infections back to back and they put me on levaquin and Cipro one round and the other different meds then it finally went away..My Achilles tendon got a big lump on it and now it hurts all the time.. Recently I found out about the meds I took and the affiliation between the meds and tendon rupture...
793305 tn?1493925518 I would trust the pharmacist. I have had levaquin and synthroid and it has been fine. They have website that you can search the reaction of medications with each other. Just google it. Good luck!
Avatar f tn re having and if you have started getting yeast infections and other fungal infections, signs of a depletion of beneficial organisms. Again, this might not be the problem, but it could be.
Avatar m tn It is somewhat dull but it almost always is apparent. I am on Levaquin right now (500 mg daily for 2 weeks) in an attempt to clear out any infections. I was on doxycycline for a week before, but I still have the same symptoms. They have changed, and I'm relatively thankful for that (testicular pain is horrible). Both Chlamydia and UTI tests came out negative (they even cultured my urine sample). What do you think ?
798555 tn?1292787551 Yes, I have taken Cipro this past year more than any person should, but it was for documented --potentially life threatening -- UTI or kidney stone related infections including hydronephrosis. I stay away from any of the fluro's at all cost and beg for an alternative antibiotic because of the warning above. But some of my infections have been so serious there's the risk/benefit.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if it is possible to still have a kidney infection after rounds of antibiotics like Cipro and Levaquin? Every time I go to the ER they tell me that my urine is free of bacteria but contains white blood cells. I have extreme flank pain and abdominal pain.
Avatar m tn I had levaquin for three separate infections at the same time -- had no problems other than complete and utter exhaustion -- hope you all feel better Jeanne
168348 tn?1379357075 Just wondering bcz I am on the Levaquin 500mgs 1X day for 7 days for a pretty bad urinary tract infection / small stone that passed (kidney) and along with normal side effects like gas, and feeling some tired/dizzy which I usually get from Levaquin I keep getting chills and more tired than normal but it comes and goes and yet my clinical symptoms for the UTI/stone passing are cleared up I do not think the chills are related to the medical problem and really wondering if after 5 days my TSH is
1831849 tn?1383228392 My guess would be that the infection may have gone upstream to your kidneys. Kidney infections versus bladder infections cause the chills/rigors. If you start to feel worse go to the ER for treatment. Signs of sepsis could include fever, nausea, vomiting and/or fever . Better safe than sorry. I do hope this NOT the case and you feel better fast and the Levaquin catches up with the nasty bug attacking your poor body!!
Avatar n tn If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.
Avatar f tn which hold fluid in them that causes me to get stones and infections all the time the only way to find this disease is to have a CTscan or an IVP they found mine when they were checking to see if i had a kidney stone stuck this disease causes me to have pain almost all the time and i have infections that dont show up on regular urine tests good luck and i hope you feel better soon
Avatar m tn Hi and Welcome t o our Pain Management Forum. Levaquin is an excellant ATB (Antibiotic). However like many medications it comes with some risks and side effects. Form a trusted Web-site: "Levaquin is associated with an increased risk of tendon rupture or swelling of the tendon (tendinitis) in all ages. This risk is higher if you are over 60 years of age, are taking steroids (corticosteroid drugs), or if you have kidney, heart, or lung transplants" .....
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been suffering from urinary tract infections for about the last two and a half years. It got to the point where I was having a huge flare up every two months. Every time I got a culture, the results would come back and they said that there was a small amount of bacteria in my urine, but the culture itself was negative. I just went to a new urologist, and he had me give a sample and take it to the lab in the same building as his office for a culture.
Avatar f tn I hear your frustration! Determining the cause of recurrent urinary tract infections can be difficult and at times unrewarding, but it is always necessary to try. First of all is the obvious: urinary infections related to sexual intercourse. Usually these occur within a day or two of sexual activity. If this is your pattern, then taking a single dose of an antibiotic (Bactrim, Macrodantin, Trimethoprim) shortly after sex (the next morning is usually close enough).
Avatar f tn Pain in my back belly and side. It went from bladder infection to kidney within a few hrs and by the time I got to the H if I wouldve waited it couldve contaminated my blood and that can terminate baby. azo did not help neither did my script.
1442701 tn?1286383987 I have had kidney infections over the years. I now drink tons of water, green tea and lemonade once a week per my urologist. Drink lots of water with Cipro it is a hard drug on the body if you do not flush it well. Also you need to flush those kidneys well. They are important organs.
Avatar n tn 11 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a kidney infection and took a week of Levaquin, then Ceftriaxine IV, then three weeks of Augmentin. I was fine while on the medicine, but two days after I went off I started having diarrhea and/or loose/soft stools. This has lasted for 8 weeks now and so far I've not gotten any answers from the doc. They've put me on probiotics, which I've taken faithfully, to no avail. I went on a bland diet, that didn't help either.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have chronic bladder infections and on long term Macrobid and still get frequent UTIs. I have had 3+ bacteria for the last 2 months despite Cipro and Levaquin. This morning the UTI is back with burning, frequency. They did not do a C&S before Cipro I think because it is always e-coli. What could be wrong with these 2 meds not working?....I am so tired of this pain and burning. I also have had lower back pain and groin pain for the last 2 mos.
Avatar f tn s for a few years, and everytime they have gone away with antibiotics and no other problems. A year ago to this month, I had a severe kidney infection, with no complications after a round of antibiotics. Recently though, about 2 months ago, I started having to urinate constantly, with no pain or any other symptoms. I've had a pelvic exam, urinalysis, a transvaginal ultrasound, and blood work done in the past 3 months now, and they still do not know what is wrong.
Avatar n tn Doctor- I am 19 years old, female, healthy other than a recent bout of subacute thyroiditis and then this problem. Three weeks ago I woke up on morning and went to the restroom like I always do but for some reason still felt like I had to go really badly. This lasted all day and and partly into the next, got a little better for a few days, and then got persistently worse. No burning or anything, just a constant extremely annoying urge.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, the side-effects of Levaquin and other quinolones such as Cipro can last for months or longer. I took Cipro 6 months ago and I'm still experiencing full body tendonitis, joint pain, muscle pain and weakness, tingling and burning sensations, stabbing pains, and more. The insomnia went away after about 6 weeks for me. I am a 36 year old female, and was very active and physically fit. There are some great forums you can check out on Yahoo that will be helpful to you.
Avatar m tn The ultrasound from my personal doctor showed a kidney stone in my left kidney and slightly increased lymph nodes. On 05/06/10, I was released back to work and told to come back when the hernia was worse (or showing a buldge). Since that time, I have seen two Urologists, have had multiple xrays, blood work and urine tests (the blood and urine all come back clean).
1972798 tn?1355549267 could be a kidney infection caused by the bladder infection, see your doctor asap. good luck!
