237563 tn?1298432497 There is laser surgery to get back pink gums but surely one must get UND first..... Just wondering.... Thanks!
Avatar n tn Yes, I see one 4 times a year for deep cleaning - also had laser surgery 2 years ago. Could the roughness be due to the gum brush and using too much? When I quit smoking, will it go away or reduce substantially? How long will it take? Thank you, again.
Avatar m tn My husband switched dentist, and the new dentist started digging in his gums, and told him he needs laser surgery for gum disease. He is obsessed with cleaning his teeth and never had a problem before, he thinks the dentist could of given him some type of bacteria with the instruments and the digging in his gums. Is this at all possible?
Avatar f tn The watery SF drainage has now become an extremely thick mucous that I usually can not even swallow because it is too thick to go down. Two days after surgery, I developed thrush on my tongue, gums and throat. I have been treated for over four months now with various strengths of magic mouth wash and oral diflucan with no improvement, just worsening. I had a biopsy done and it showed it was not thrush, or cancer.
Avatar f tn It can be due to gum recession (gums are receding away) exposing the roots. This can be remedies through bonding (fillings), sensitivity toothpaste, fluoride treatments at the dental office, laser treatments, gum surgery, etc It can also be due to cracks or breaks in the teeth. This could require further dental care. Cavities can also cause sensitivity. Bruxism (clenching and grinding) can cause sensitivity And the list can go on and on.
Avatar m tn I have some gum problems. I went to a dentist who recommended laser treatment for my gums mas well as osseous surgery. Afterwards I found out he is an endodontist who has taken a laser course. Would I be better off using a periodontist who does laser treatments?
Avatar f tn If you still have sufficient bone, perhaps LANAP surgery would help. It's laser gum flap surgery to remove areas that can hold the bacteria. Other than surgical remedies, there's not much you can do if you reached the stage where you are considering pan extractions. Good luck, but IMO, do put your $ where it can really help.
Avatar f tn After several different doctors, I was told that I had trigeminal neuralgia as well as a deviated septum. I eventually had laser surgery for the trigeminal neuralgia, but the a facial pain continues. The nerve pain has subsided, but I continue to have facial pain on my left side. The pain seems to get worse if I lean my head to that side. This occurred a few years ago, and after several months of taking seizure medication and lortab, I was not getting any better.
Avatar f tn My concern is that I have suffered a blow-out fracture (my upper lip and gums were very numb but this is reducing now), however the hospital does not seem too concerned (being as they have not called me back in quickly after the CT scan). Could my double vision be a result of eye muscle swelling, and will this reduce in time? I carried a heavy box the other day and felt a throbbing around my eye after- maybe that's in my head- could that really cause that effect?
Avatar n tn Upon taking her in we discovered bloody gums and a horrible smell. We were sent to an oral surgeon whom suggested extracting them all, however her creatnine, bun and phosphurus were 16.5 and up. Off the charts. All other tests within normal range. Now, she had an xtray and ultrasound in Sept, after she had a bladder stone removed in surgery. She did horrible from anesthesia and pain meds and we felt she would not make it. She has strained to urinate ever since, and bears down.
480331 tn?1310407129 Turns out she has a lip tie (this is the upper lip is tied to the gums by the piece of skin - like a tongue tie but is the top of the mouth). She will be having surgery on this in a few weeks - will find out when on Saturday (it will cause jaw and tooth problems if not corrected - could cause severe buck teeth, among others). Am hoping that having this corrected will make BF more comfortable for me.
Avatar n tn local guy, who had Gum surgery several years back, the pockets worsened, and he had the laser surgery. It's been 2 years since he had surgery and his pockets reduced dramatically and has no bleeding. Here's a good review on PerioLase: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJsFLnKwkaE let me know what you think or what other options might be worth considering.
Avatar n tn Just read from someone that had LANAP or Periolase treatment, which supposedly treats deep-pockets by cleaning out bacteria, dead tissue, and roots and allowing bone growth and gums to reattach to the tooth. Anyone have this procedure done? website given on post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Avatar n tn I have to go back on the 12th to speak to anisteasia(spelled wrong) and to speak to the preop nurse to get my instructions and the time for the surgery...And it is still on for the 18th .....so hugsssssssss to all...louella.
Avatar n tn The crowns fell out and that day the dentist decided to lenghten my gums so I had laser surgery and was told that was to help hold the 3 new crowns I would need. 3 new posts and some sort of molding was put in place next to my eye tooth. The next visit an xray was taken because of the severe infection and pain. there was a cyst in my root canal so I was scheduled for surgery . The plan was to remove the middle form and post and cut the cyst out but everything was ripped from my mouth.
Avatar f tn Trigeminal pain hit when an endodontist used laser to cut gums and hit nerves..I suffered for a year seeing a dental pain specialist but taking nothing..That was when my back started to hurt from the fall and I was referred to a pain dr who found I had facet joint arthritis sacral 1thru5....I had cortisone injections that did not help, Out of the blue I had the feeling a red hot poker hit my clit..I woke up screaming.....screaming...
Avatar n tn I'm sorry that you are suffering so much. I was in similar condition due to occipital neuralgia, but my pain finally responded well to some newer meds. In the process, I discovered that long term use of narcotics actually worsened the pain for which they were originally prescribed. Please ask your doctors to try Lyrica and Keppra. These meds work in entirely different ways, so they can be combined to increase their efficacy.
Avatar n tn Periodontist and I had an agreement, when Neutrophils were on an upswing, I would come in the same day and be squeezed into the schedule. Btw, my gums were in the best of health during tx, the s..t hit the fan after tx. In regards to Interferon and bone loss. I know of no study that says combo tx causes loss of bone density, quite the opposite. Credit is given to Riba to favor increasing of bone density. The whole time on tx I sat on my arse, which you know was over 2 years.

Avatar n tn just local anastetics? Do i have to not eat before the surgery? What are the Pre surgery rules I have to follow? I found all the post surgery things to expect but no pre surgery. And if they put me to sleep im not quite sure how they can get inside me without me awake to hold my legs open. That might be a dumb question but i wonder about that).
Avatar n tn OK. I have had the same problem with my lips for about 4 years. I have seen about 50 doctors, none of which could diagnois me. I had a patch test which revealed I was very allergic to nickel. I went to a contact dermatitis specialist, and he asked me if I had any dental work. I had about 11 silver fillings and 3 crowns and 1 gold inlay. I just started removing the silver fillings, and I have the 2 crowns and 1 inlay left, but soooo much improvement.
Avatar n tn Did you ever get your feeling back or have surgery? I Had surgery 10 days ago and I still have numbness R nose area, upper R lip and teeth. I have a lot of tingling with sharp pains and I guess that is good.
Avatar n tn It has to be blood to blood like sharing a needle, a razor, toothbrush with bleeding gums or transfusing blood, I would never treat while I was bleeding and I don't do surgery or share needles. So I am quite sure it is OK for your sister to work.
Avatar m tn Try laser surgery...contact Dayton Laser Spine Institute in Dayton OH. My husband recently had this procedure, he was in a car accident. He seems to be on the mend and feeling pretty good. He had numbness in his leg also.
605458 tn?1539232408 I had mostly sharp shooting pain episodes, and an underlying constant burning pain. The surgery got rid of the pain. This year, the pain came back, only this time, the constant burning episodes were more distressing than the sharp shooting pain. Neurontin seems to have dealt with a lot of the stinging, shooting pain and bug crawling sensations, but I still get days of burning pain. My questions- Can trigeminal nerve pain feel like it is behind or around the eyeball?
Avatar n tn I don't think it is, although I hope its just my gums. Everything else has nearly been ruled out, and it is becoming freakish.
315996 tn?1429057829 I went to have some oral surgery and told the dentist. His assistant refused to help and he fired her on the spot. I felt he did the right thing but I was very uncomfortable. I still think we all have to tell heath care workers who might be exposed to blood. That was 10 years ago and I have not had a problem since then.
