Avatar n tn Also, procedures such as micro dermabrasion and chemical peels only remove thin layers of skin. Laser resurfacing uses a laser to treat deep layers of skin. The procedure is performed in an outpatient facility or, at times, in a hospital. An individual might receive general anesthesia for treatment of deeper layers of the face, and recovery time can take from a few minutes to a few hours. The doctor moves the laser over the area that requires treatment.

They can be safely and effectively resurfaced through the proper use of a high-energy, pulsed or scanned carbon dioxide (CO2) or Erbium-Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet (Er:YAG) laser.
Avatar f tn The mark is now more pronounced and noticeable, dark like the color of my lips, and impossible to cover with makeup because of the hole in the skin. Will the skin ever grow back and what can I do about it now or in the future? Any suggestions? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hi Dr, At the end of July last year I received one session of fraxel laser resurfacing along the orbital rim under both my eyes. I've always had dark circles and badly textured skin there but no puffiness, so this was supposed to be a relatively safe attempt at some form of remedy. I reacted quite badly to the fraxel and had some prolonged brusing and what the doctor told me was inflammation.

Avatar m tn Went home that night and put it on my cheeks and my forehead, and my skin was burning the entire night. Got up the next morning, and applied protopic again, then went to the tanning bed, because I was getting ready to go off on a cruise(i've since learned that tanning is very bad for you, and haven't been back since!). After getting out of the tanning bed, I looked at myself, and my face was a deep shade of red that I had never seen before.

I hope it helps.
Avatar n tn I have the same problem and just recently I had the Afirm Laser procedure done on my neck and my arms from hand to shoulder completely. After that I had a peel done on them. I notice a HUGE difference. The Affirm laser tightened and the peel did even more. It cost $450. for the laser and then $100. for the peel so it was not cheap but I feel much more comfortable showing my arms now. I was told that the tightening of the skin will continue over the next few months.
Avatar n tn It is a generalized skin disorder characterized by reddening and scaling of the skin and produced by several skin diseases, such as psoriasis, contact dermatitis, drug reactions, and mycosis fungoides (a cutaneous lymphoma). Avatar m tn Your comments are very helpful. (By the way I meant to say "acrylic" not "acetate.") I have small pupils and, before presbyopia set in, had no eye problems, not even astigmatism. Both my sister and brother have had excellent results with monofocals set for distance, and my brother mentioned that he does not need glasses for reading. Perhaps, since he had his surgery a few years ago, his lenses are not aspheric.

Without treatment, this usually takes about 6 months to resolve and for the skin color to go back to its normal color. Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color. Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions.

Avatar f tn In November 2011, I received my first ever shot of Toradol, which is deemed a NSAID. However, I was just told that my pathology results came back as Steroidal Induced Atrophy. I am confused about this. At first, my injection site was red and circular (no big deal since this shot made me pass out, which has never happened to me before.) A few weeks later, the site turned an off-white color (like the color of ashy skin), but still circular. It remained like that until this past July.

Avatar n tn I had cosmetic surgery a year ago. The right eye was excessively bruised, swollen and painful. The surgeon injected cortisone on two ocassions. Now the eye looks like I have a "shiner. The top of the cheek is lower than the left so facial symmetry is lost. The tissue under the eye is atrophied. The skin is very thin and painful like a burn. There were numerous blood vessels which he has cauterized. The eye remains painful which causes me to fear muscle damage.

I hope it helps.

Avatar n tn Hi, Scars are areas of fibrous tissue that replace normal skin (or other tissue) after injury. By ugly if you mean a disfiguring scar, like one that causes the scar to be raised above the surrounding skin, then it could be a hypertrophic scar. There are no medicated creams to remove scars, you have other options like surgery, where scars can be cut out and stitched up, a process called scar revision. Laser surgery & resurfacing or Steroid injections are other options.
Avatar n tn I saw my GP three times and took about 4 rounds of antibiotics before he gave up on me and sent me to a ENT for my dizziness. The ENT gave up on me after 2 visits and is sending me to a neurologist. I just called the ENT myself and made the appointment. They didn't ask how many infections I had or anything. So I would say open the phone book and call a few unless your doc gives you a referal. How long have you had the dizziness? For me it's going on 4 months.
Avatar n tn I have two blemishes on my face which I am told are dermal. I was advised that a laser skin resurfacing procedure could be performaed to remove the dark spots and smooth out some acne scarring. I was told that the CO2 laser could not be used on African American skin due to pigment problems and have heard varying tales on weather the erbium laser would give me the results I want. Could you clear up the confusion regarding these two lasers.

Avatar m tn 2) Microdermabrasion - I've been doing this to a certain extent and have some level of success but I guess I have to be more patient and let the glans heal then do another session (I believe I've successfully de-kernelized my penis glan at this point which makes it more sensitive) 3) Laser skin resurfacing, isn't this too harsh on the penis glans? Every cosmetic surgeon does not recomment laser treatment, unless I'm missing something special laser technology I don't know of?!
Avatar n tn Hypopigmentation after laser resurfacing. What on earth can I do? I'm afraid of my surgeon who promised beautiful, baby like skin. Instead I have web-like scarring all over my face and neck. This discussion is related to Hypo-pigmentation.
