Avatar m tn I'm figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
Avatar m tn calcium oxalate stones, struvite stones, uric acid stones or cystine stones. Potassium citrate is used for the treatment of stones. I would suggest you to get an evaluation done from a urologist to determine the type of stone. Treatment modes include Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithrotripsy (ESWL), uteroscopic stone removal and percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Since ESWL was not successful, the other two treatment options can be considered. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Hi, How many times have you experienced this ? Was this present prior to the treatment of your kidney stones? What kind of treatment did you undergo? Avatar m tn It was found that my stone was calcium based and I was told to avoid all dairy products as well as some fruit and veg. There are 4 different types of kidney stones. Unfortunately, once you have had kidney stones the chances of getting another one are much higher.
Avatar m tn Most days it still feels like my kidney is still there and hurts exactly like it did when I had kidney infections or kidney stones. When I had my surgery they cut me from back ribcage to the front below my bladder so there is a lot of nerves that were severed during the surgery. Most of the time if feels like my kidney is huge and taking up too much space inside and under my ribcage, so the pain is not just right in the nerve endings.
757137 tn?1347200053 Magnesium will get rid of kidney stones, and cranberry juice will prevent them.
Avatar n tn I've had shortness of breath which I think is from the cosopt. No appetite which is from the diamox and lately kidney pain (i.e. stones) from the pilocarpine. I don't want to be on this stuff much longer but I would also like to avoid surgery. The docs are just trying to buy me time to see if the effects of the steroid shot wear off and the plumbing in my eye starts working again. I'm also taking ALA, vitamin C, fish oil and doing some cardio whenever I can.
Avatar f tn I have had over 60 kidney stones and unfortunately this is the way it works - if you go to a doctor complaining of the pain, they set you up for an ultrasound or ct scan, etc. A lot of times you have to wait weeks or months for that test depending on the insurance, etc. Meanwhile you are in a ton of pain and if you DO happen to pass a stone before the test you may never know.
Avatar m tn So she is not able to work and has TennCare for her health insurance. She has a stone right now that is 8.3 mm and too big to pass. Insurance will not pay for a lipotripsy as they say this is not a life threatening event. She has had her urologist with a catheter try to break it up and pull it out several times to no avail. This is not the first time she has went through that.

1832268 tn?1326819610 We brought him home and did twice daily under skin fluids plus standard recommended meds and kidney diet. We then took him to a kidney specialist who was trying to determine at what stage of Kidney disease he was at. Got his levels down a little more a week little later, things were looking promising and his energy levels were increasing dramatically. Less than a week later, he completely stopped eating. Took him to specialist after 2 days of not eating.
Avatar f tn This is one of the most difficult things I've ever had to deal with. My beloved Gypsy is dying of kidney failure. Gypsy is a Jack Russell Terrier and she turned 18...yes 18...on Christmas Day. It's just so hard to know when it is "time." I prayed and prayed that she would give us one final parting gift and die on her own in her sleep...but she is SUCH a fighter and refused to surrender to this thing.
Avatar m tn 'Home Remedies to Make Kidney Stones Dissolve'. I don't think we are allowed to post links here, but if you search that, it should take you to a good piece on kidney stones, on a site called 'Live Strong'. It may give you some ideas that you may be able to use yourself and give you a little more feeling of control. This info may not eliminate the problem, but may help ease the discomfort. I am a firm, lifelong believer in homeopathy.
Avatar n tn We must all remember that theraphy only focuses on trying to stop or lower viral replication, and not to cure any infection liver already suffered before treatment. I guess these home remedies for liver cirrhosis will help and not harm.
Avatar f tn There is a treatment for kidney stones if they can't pass on their own. His Dr would have to do the procedure in the hospital. They break the stones up into very tiny pieces that can be passed. I think he would be able to come home that same day.
Avatar m tn On March 16, 2017, a San Diego, California woman died days after receiving an IV infusion of turmeric. Jade Erick, age 30, suffered a brain injury and cardiac arrest after receiving the first 5 mL of a 250 mL infusion of turmeric in the office of a naturopathic doctor. Avatar m tn I think this is a rational concern. Yes, kidney stones can cause damage to the kidneys. Not all the time though. It can cause the kidney to atrophy, thin and not function as well. Or an infection can happen related to the stones. But, when the damage happens, it is usually when the stones are not detectible in terms of symptoms. The person doesn't have pain so they go a very long time with the stone. You had pain and are scheduled for surgery.

Avatar f tn Hi there, The risk factors for UTI in males are sexual intercourse, use of spermicidal products, stones in kidney, changing sexual partners frequently, diabetes and childhood infections. The urine can also be due to retention of urine anywhere in its flow due to obstruction. Inherited factors may be related to recurrent UTIs in few people. Drink plenty of water.
1010757 tn?1279444904 Hi there, I went into the ER today for suspected kidney stones, and the DR ordered a CTSCAN- The scan came back that I have a teratoma (dermoid?) cyst & stones (yay for me! lol). He sent me home with pain killers (enough for 2 days wtf!) and told me to follow up with my family Dr. I don''t HAVE a family doctor, so I guess I have to contact amy old gyn/ob to follow up with and pray he sees me because this pain is BRUTAL ON to the questions..sorry I know..I'm so random and all over the place.
585414 tn?1288944902 There are a lot of "unknowns" in me but there is one "known quantity". I have to work very closely with my psychopharmocologist and neurologist (who is a movement disorders specialist). That doesn't make me different from you. Actually it makes me quite the same.
242516 tn?1368227505 Other signs such as facial pain radiating to your teeth or rapid breathing with shortness of breath can help with diagnosis. 1310633 tn?1430227691 I'm now left with my chronic pain and kidney stones. The kidney stones I can deal with, as if it gets bad enough and the stone is big enough, I head to the ER of my home hospital, and I get taken care of under the watchful eye of my urologist (who is fully aware of my past addiction & subsequent stint in rehab). A kidney stone and IV Dilaudid to take care of it until it passes, administered by ER staff/nurses/doctors, does not a relapse make.
667008 tn?1231130069 I do take some natural remedies under the supervision of my psychiatrist but when I took cranberry pills as a diuretic with the reccomendation of my grandmother who was taking them for that reason, they gave me kidney stones and I only found out why after. The problem with Xanax is its not meant for long term use and a person can easily build up a tolerance to it. Every benzodiazepene has that potential but it is far less with Klonopin which is safe for long term use.
Avatar f tn I have had several activations and symptoms come right back full force. I have also had kidney stones and cysts on my kidneys and i swear its from EBV too. Fortunately the activations when caught early can be fairly well dealt with for me.
211940 tn?1267884866 I have had kidney stones, in the past, but that was several years ago. Normally, when I get the UTI "symptoms", I take some cranberry pills, and drink lots of water. This usually clears it up, if not that same day, in a day or two. I normally take, cranberry pills, every day, as part of my regiment of keeping UTI's away. However, I have had the UTI "symptoms", this time, for almost 3 weeks now.
Avatar m tn Morning nausea, belching, gas. Normal EGD, 2 normal ultrasounds (no stones). HIDA scan results 19% EF...scan led to more pain and nausea later that day. Gastro recommending a surgery consult. Questions: to what extent can I conclude that having GB out would rid me of the symptoms; and what questions should I be asking my Gastro and surgeon? Can gallbladder function be restored? Many thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge!
447063 tn?1316564530 I just want pain to go away. Please anyone? Could it be bladder, kidney stones? I have tried all types of stomach medicine and natural remedies and nothing has worked. This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/202648'> RED PALMS</a>.
Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female. I have been having right side abdominal pain for about 1-2 months. It just recently got bad a few weeks ago when I ate out with my boyfriend. Immediately after eating chicken wings I was doubled over in pain. I didn't go to the hospital, and the pain eventually went away. The following days I noticed the pain was there in a constant form. It wasn't as bad as the attack I had, but it hurt. This past Monday I saw my doctor about the pain.
