Avatar f tn Was advised some pain killers and after about 1 week of excessive fluid intake, i passed out another stone. Does this indicate formation of more such stones? What is the probablity of developing kidney related chronic issues? Any preventive steps that can be taken?
Avatar f tn I have a male friend who's been dealin w/ kidney stones for about a year quite now. He's on medi-cal in CA & he's not gettin anywhere w/ doctor's. He's been waitin for 1 mo. now for a referral to see a specialist & in the mean time his symptoms seems to be gettin more serious. He's continuin to lose weight, fevers, chills, dizziness, severe pain, there's a smell when he urinates at times, cloudy urine (reddish), stones are not passin as he feels the stones in his penis.
Avatar f tn I have a 15 yr. history with kidney stones. I had my most recent attack 3 weeks ago and it was one of the longest enduring of any I've had, with the most severe flank and ureter pain lasting almost 12 hrs. The last couple hours of the horrible pain, I experienced what I would almost call spasms very low down, and I've never had that before in any of the other attacks. I had waves of pain and the urge to urinate every few minutes.
Avatar f tn Hi, Kidney stones often do not cause any symptoms. Usually, there is extreme pain, which begins suddenly when a stone moves in the urinary tract and blocks the flow of urine. If the stone is too large to pass easily, pain continues as the muscles in the wall of the narrow ureter try to squeeze the stone into the bladder. As the stone moves and the body tries to push it out, blood may appear in the urine, making the urine reddish.
Avatar n tn I have had numerous kidney infections and stones over the past few years. I had a stent recently put in because of a narrowing at the UPJ. I am having alot of pain from the stent. My Uro. said before he put the stent in that I would be able to resume a normal life while the stent is in place. I have frequency, I have to go about 30 times in a 24 hr. period and I am taking ditropan xl 5mg. I am also on pryidium plus 2x's a day.
Avatar f tn Does this mean kidney stones I pass hurt more then other people's kidney stones with larger ureters? I was never told that this could be the outcome of my surgery and that I would need subsequent surgery to get rid of these stones. Thank you for any advise you can lend.
Avatar f tn Went to Urologist for daughter's history with Kidney stones. Original xray in February showed 2 stones. We did confirm she passed 1 of those stones in February. Not sure if other ever passed. Advised by doctors that it must of passed by now..... Urologist said that probably with this last episode, just over a week ago, must of passed other stone. Although we've been straining it, and haven't seen it. Said to wait and watch her for now.
Avatar f tn Is it true that people with POTS are more prone to kidney stones??? I read that, but wondering if anyone else has had issues. I have had two major attacks in two weeks and hoping this isn't a new "byproduct" I have to deal with! Thank you for your input!
540521 tn?1221703306 The stones seem to bother me the most when i am standing and being active, Can kidney stones lead to kidney Failure? How much worse can this get? I don't know what else to do , I am at a loss, any help would be Greatly Appreciated. Thank You..
Avatar f tn As you have had/still have calcium oxalate stones, your risk of getting more kidney stones is much increased. Avoid the foods mentioned and browse the web for more information on oxalate rich foods that you should avoid or eat less of. It is also very important to always stay well hydrated. Your urologist may have advised you to drink 2 litres of fluids (4 pints) during the day, more if you are doing exercises that make you sweat or perspiring in hot weather.
Avatar n tn Since having kidney stones currently and knowing what they feel like not being pregnant, I can safely say that I have had stones at least 3 other times between the ages of 17 and 27 (pain at that time was diagnosed as most likely a cyst -- when pain was severe - shortly thereafter went away - they said cyst burst - i am confident that the pain was kidney stones). With that being said, I'm tired of getting the kidney stones (as well as the tiredness, soreness and moodiness).
Avatar f tn I suggest you see a different doctor, one who knows more about kidney stones. In fact the doctor should refer you to a urologist. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
Avatar f tn but the pain came back and then it went into my back as well this continued for about 4 days happening early hours of the morning late evening and early morning .. does this sound like kidney stones as I'm really worried its something more serious..I'm 31 a female and my ct scan is tomorrow. I'm scared . So any advice would be great .
Avatar f tn definitely could be stones. i had 1 and mu hubby had them 2x.
Avatar m tn (this is my 3rd doc but now i had it checked in a well known hospital, the last 2 check up was from a clinic and it was more then 5 months ago) i told my doc that my main symptoms were frequent urination and slight burning feeling and i told him that i took all the antibiotics for chlamydia and gono. so to his assumption he said that it doesn't look like an std and said it could be a kidney stone.
Avatar m tn She has had them enough she is on several medicines for the symptoms of the stones and the symptoms of the medicines she takes.
Avatar n tn You will need to take care to restrict certain foods in your diet, especially vitamin C, as it has been reported to aggravate signs and symptoms of both kidney stones and interstitial cystitis.
7808984 tn?1406684565 I completely understand the need to take them for surgery after something as painful as kidney stones. I also had to take them for a short time after surgery. I experienced some minor withdrawals as well. You know what to do to ease the symptoms. Make sure you are not listening to your head telling you that you need to take anymore. Keep yourself active and your mind occupied. Perhaps it's time to get a meeting in? I wish you continued healing. Stay strong and focused. All the best.
Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Kidney stones usually pass out through the urine stream with in 48hours. But this depends upon the size of the stone. A 4mm stone has 80% chances of coming out spontaneously, where as 5mm stone has 20% chances. Stones more than this size usually require treatment. Medical management includes calcium channel blockers, alpha blockers etc. Surgical treatment involves shock wave lithotripsy or percutaneous nephrolithotomy or open surgery.
Avatar f tn I am so tired of the tummy trouble, that is causing me more discomfort than the actual kidney pain. Can kidney stones cause diarrhea? Even if they are not the most painful stones I've had?
Avatar f tn My daughter was diagnosed with kidney stones last month. Had message on 2/16 regarding problems. Since then she still just isn't feeling good. We did only catch 1 stone, not sure if the other is still in there, or not. Didn't show up on last xray, the stones were too low, she then passed 1 several days after last xray. Anyway, she keeps having bouts of nausea, and body aches. Everytime she takes a bath, she gets extremely nauseas. This is new. She used to love to take baths, soak, etc...
Avatar n tn but i sit here , on the toilet typing this , as for the last two days i have had horrific cramps and diahorra (sp) . Its heart warming to know that all my symptoms are of those relating to kidney stones .
Avatar m tn Now he told me I should look up some info on this kidney condition that the radiologist thought I had where there is a lot of calcium build up in the kidneys making you have more of a chance if getting kidney stones. I don't remember what it was called. Anyone know? I guess I will still be talking to my OB about the possibility of endometriosis since I am also having all my old pain again.
1215383 tn?1266418042 One reason is that biofilm infections can set up with in and on kidney stones. Most big stones are known as infectious stones but bacteria can build biofilms on small and calcium oxalate stones as well. Feel free to pm for more information or links on Biofilm infection and kidney stones. Here is the link to the MSK support group here. Though you may not have MSK there is a lot of info on kidney stones, infection and chronic pain etc. http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/256?
409451 tn?1206900232 I've also been bloated for about 2 months. (Also, my dad has aweful kidney stones) I was referred to urologist, he thinks it's endo, ordered ct scan, but I haven't had it yet...does anyone have any suggestions or similar issues, I'm feeling really lost and confused!!??
Avatar f tn The treatment for kidney stones depends on their size and what they are made of and also if they are causing pain or obstructing the urinary tract. Small stones usually pass through the urinary tract without treatment. It is good advice to stay well hydrated as that should prevent the stones from getting any bigger or new ones from forming. For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .
