1522652 tn?1291241954 I know that there is a link beginning with my chronic uti's as a child, to my severe pms as an adolecent into adulthood, and then on to my chronic kidney stones and infections as an adult, and then the loss of my kidney, as well as the problems I'm experiencing now. My question is what specific tests do I need to request to accurately check my thyroid, parathyroid, and my calcium levels? Also, are there any specific questions that I need to ask.

Avatar n tn Basically, it's a heavy feeling of being only half-awake; of living in a dream; like I'm sleepwalking; heavy mental fogginess; serious difficulty concentrating due to this feeling; difficulty focusing on what's happening around me. Really, it is the feeling you get right before you lose consciousness- like I'm on the edge of passing out and losing consciousness, and the world around me is seeming really distant and starting to fade away and get dark.
Avatar n tn probably triggered by my appaling health. There is never any trigger for the symptoms...but I feel like I'm dying when I have a severe attack. I have been taking Zoloft for 2 yrs now...have no side effects, and the only time I have an attack now is if I'm in severe pain....or forget to take a tablet! I also have most of the symptoms described on this page...and many other problems. No wonder my body is reacting with anxiety attacks!!!
Avatar f tn I have panic disorder, guess what's almost always on the exclusion list? Mental health. Other than that, I seldom seek medical care for much of anything. Sort of leaves me screwed. Right now, there are not enough compaies competing for people's health insurance. The less companies in the game, the more they can charge. I just don't think the answer is to have the government take over. I like choices, I like options. I like handling my OWN affairs.
1216899 tn?1288573925 With all the sites out there that have info on Vitamin D, their just doesn't seem to be one that has all the symptoms that can accompany vitamin d deficiency. I'm going to list my symptoms, so that others may have some insight, in layman's terms. I hope anyone else with the deficiency would also post theirs.
Avatar n tn I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect. Light headedness, the runs, blood pressure going up, and general fatigue. Lots of fatigue. And some irritability. I am hoping that these symptoms begin to decrease soon. Well, they have gotten better than it was in the first 2 days. I am still wondering how long I can expect to have these side effects of withdrawal?
1534233 tn?1523392456 My life form the last 18 months has been hell on earth, before that I've always been quite happy. Had a few health problems, kidney stones for one. They hurt like you won't believe, but they're tangible, diagnosable and treatable. Not like what I'm failing to contend with currently. It's almost beside the point if I'm cardiac neurotic or not, I don't object to the label. I fully accept I might be creating all this myself. Nothing I can do seems to be able to make it stop.
Avatar n tn I have been to a GYN, Urologists, primary care physicians, you name it I have seen them. I have had kidney stones removed, laproscopic surgery (nothing abnormal) and a cystopy (spelling). I was actually hoping that the Lap would indicate that they had found something wrong so they could fix it. My GYN seems to think our next step is to remove the uterus, I just don't see how this can help.

Avatar f tn I've been worried about my physical health more lately than my mental health, on the other hand I fear the physical pain being "all in my head" as previous doctors have appeared to suggest in the past. But that doesn't make sense either, unless I'm really and truly insane, and somehow I doubt that. I've been so tired lately, I mean I'm always tired, but this sense of malaise stretches far beyond the normal day to day fatigue. And what the **** is wrong with my joints???
Avatar f tn E trips for extreme abdominal pain which has since shown in a ultrasound as both kidneys diolated with the left being larger and has stagnent urine in, No kidney stones present in the kidneys so gotta have some dyd injected. My neurologist has just really upset me and said i cant get an appointment untill septemeber, and she said 'it's not a brain herniation' in a mannor which made me feel like i have no clue whats going on.
Avatar n tn The problem is sometimes those pregnancy symptoms are an awful lot like period symptoms (it's a bummer that nature works that way). But either way, I started having sore breasts and slight nausea within about a week or so after my IUI. The IUI worked and I did get pregnant... so although everyone is different, the symptoms started rather early for me. We'll cross our fingers for you and hopefully you'll have some good news in a week or so!
Avatar m tn I spent the next couple of months having those attacks less frequent with a healthy diet and proper exercise of running. One month ago I had severe pain radiating from my kidneys. I have had kidney stones and cysts in the past so I immediately went to a high water/cranberry juice intake. I took a urine test at the doctor and it showed that there was hematuria. At work my legs started to hurt and go numb. The numbness went away and now I have muscle twinges. I also have constipation.
Avatar m tn We don't trust the doctors that we are seeing they have told us in the past that it was a urinary infection, then kidney stones then irritable bowel and nothing was correct. It almost feels like they are just humoring us, like they are doing us a favor. It feels horrible to see my baby girl in pain and it feels like nobody is taking us seriously. Sorry for unloading but we are just lost at what to do next. Thank you for any help that you can give.
Avatar n tn There is a history of high blood pressure, kidney stones, diabetes, and heart disease in my family. I don't know if my doctor is sure of what he is looking for? Should I consult with someone else or can you give me some advice? Please help, I am tired!!
Avatar f tn I have had several activations and symptoms come right back full force. I have also had kidney stones and cysts on my kidneys and i swear its from EBV too. Fortunately the activations when caught early can be fairly well dealt with for me.
Avatar m tn the problem you are having now is a health obsession which probably is an unconscious mental mechanism that covers over your real life anxiety. The only way to get through that layer is by some form of psychotherapy, and that is what you should pursue before this obession becomes a full blown depression.
Avatar m tn Eating a high-protein, low-fiber diet, high vitamin D levels, overactive parathyroid glands, family history of kidney stones, kidney or urinary infections, Crohn’s disease all can cause kidney stones repeatedly. It is suggested to be screened for above mentioned disorders. Consult a nephrologist and take treatment as advised. The size and location of stone will help in deciding the exact course of management. Do keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn Kidney pain when you actually feel it is generally from stones or you could have an infection in your kidney. That will cause pain. If you have stones or an infection, blood will Usually show up in your urine. About a month ago I had the pain in my side and back. I immediately thought it was a UTI because I do get them. My culture came back negative but with blood in my urine. My blood work came back a kidney infection. I took antibiotics for 20 days to clear it up.
Avatar n tn It can also predispose to kidney stones by effecting the same enzyme in the kidney as acetazolamide - therefore the two may be additive in the risk of kidney stones. Kidnet stones can be very painful and have the potential to damage the kidney. The side effects and risks need to be weighed with the benefit with your doctor. You may be ok by keeping well hydrated etc but perhaps their may be a better headache preventative than topamax if you continue to take Diamox.
Avatar n tn Hook, one of our doctors in our expert forum, says 4, I think. Chlamydia might have caused the scar tissue, but kidney stones sure could, too. I think his decision to not get that procedure done was a mistake in judgment, but there isn't too much you can do now, right? He is also making big mistakes in not finishing the antibiotics, and his doctor should be made aware of that. His doctor might need to change his treatment plan.
Avatar f tn I have had 2 kidney stones in the past 4 years, 1 of which caused a month long bout of extreme pain; and I have hemorrhoids. Please help!
709686 tn?1277435759 Over the past few years I have watched myself get worse and worse with anxiety, stress, mental fog, concentration problems, body aches and pains, severe miagraine headaches, two different kidney stones, three major colon surgeries and the list goes one. One year ago I began to have severe stomach cramps and pain. I went to the ER on 4 different occassions, 3 trips to my GI doctor and 3 trips to my surgeon.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with asthma (from birth), chronic bronchitis, recurring kidney stones, and CVID receiving ivig for the last 9 months. Also on 3 kinds of asthma meds including Xolair. My igg level is now a constant 700-900. Blood Doc says my immune system is fixed. She is telling me this while I am coughing uncontrollably in her office. Then says it's got to be something else happening here, and sends me out the door. My pulmonary doc has no clue, allergist has no clue.
Avatar f tn another thing that can cause these issues is a kidney problem, including kidney stones. you should get checked for them, and dont let the dr fool you into thinking theyll show up on an ultrasound, most of the time, they dont. my mom just had one the size of a large grape stuck in the tube, it did not show on an ultrasound. if you havent had these checked, you might want to look into it. also, try to remember that your mental health conditions arent going to help you out here.
Avatar f tn If you see a pain doctor, you need to tell him about the kidney stones and talk about whether they want to handle your kidney stones or if they want the urologist to treat them. Fibro can be a tough disease but narcotics are not the best way to treat it. Meds like Cymbalta' Lyrica or Neurontin are more effective for that type of pain. I've had fibro for over 13 years and personally found diet and exercise is best for fibro type pain.
