Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain from running

jaw-pain

Avatar m tn My main concern is jaw pain. After short periods of running I am experiencing pain, specifically around my joints. After doing some light background research I saw this this could be linked to heart disease. Before anyone responds a few points should be made. -I was tested extensively for heart issues when I was 4 due to a benign heart murmur. - I have scoliosis which causes one of my legs to be approx .25 inches shorter than the other. I require the use of a lift in one shoe.
Avatar f tn I have been having pretty uncomfortable pain in my jaw and neck after running coupled with coughing and scratchy throat. I plan to go to the doctor to see if I have exercise induced asthma. I hope you went to the doctor. Those are some very serious side effects you are having!
Avatar f tn As for the injection sites, time will heal the pain from that. As for the fact that your pain is unbearable I'm wondering if you have what is called a "dry socket". Call your dds asap and get in there to be examined. Don't worry, this won't last forever. If it is a dry socket they can pack it and the pain subsides quickly.
Avatar n tn Hi there, for me it started when i lose my voice (not competely) but no pain in the throat area. then area around my left jaw joint area (below the ear) starts to feel uncomfortable especially every time i moved my jaw or open my mouth wide to eat something. i dont have toothache etc. then i start to have running nose and nose block. i went to see a GP, he say there is slight infection in the ear and nose. i was on medication for 6 days.
Avatar f tn IVE BEEN HAVING PAIN IN MY TEMPLE, THAN I CAN FEEL PRESURE IN MY NECK JAW AND DOWN IN MY GROAN . I WENT TO THE DOC SHE IS RUNNING SOME TESTS, BUT SHE THINKS ITS NOT MY HEART OR A STOKE, OR BLOOD CLOT. DO U KNOW THE SIGNS OF A BLEEDING BRAIN, WOULD SOMEONE DIE FAST? I FEEL THE PRESURRE IN MY MAIN ATRIES LEFT SIDE.
Avatar n tn The previous weeks, while I had my temp on, I had occasional low level pain in my jaw running from my ear to my chin. The dentist told me when the permanent went on, this pain would go away, but it has not and I still have intermittent jaw painn. There is no hot/cold sensivity or pain when biting and the crown feels completely normal. Is this something I should be concerned about? How long might it go on?
Avatar n tn Hi Cindee56 is on to something...it is worth looking into...ask ur PCP about getting an MRI of ur brain and cervical spine area.
587537 tn?1220104892 thats when the extreem pain started and swelling of both upper and lower gums. I do clinch my teeth, jaw pops/cracks more as I get older. So I was sent to a oral surgen to get the moler pulled, took exrays and he said No way; your sinus are swelling. Went to medical Dr. got that 5 day medican, a week later took extrays again and still tells me sinus infection. My nose fells clear, my ears do hurt and my jaw aches, along with swollen gums, only on right side.
Avatar f tn Other than an autoimmune disease, which the neuro should have been able to identify, it sounds indeed like you had a migraine headache, which as you know produces an aura and pain in the head. Could be the arm weakness is from your previous upper body weight training, and is wholly diff from the eye and head thing.
Avatar f tn Pulse is normally low in the 50s but does manage to get into the low 60s with training. Blood pressure remains unchanged. No arm or jaw pain, but I really feel like I can not catch enough oxygen and I may pass out. I try to train in the evening when it is cooler and the sun is not as strong. I am beginning to think I have a heart problem. My physician does not think so but am going for a cadiac workup anyway. Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Avatar m tn If you cannot afford a massage, you can get relief from massaging the muscle from the middle of the neck up to the corner of the jaw bone. Push up under the corner of the jaw bone and you will feel the tight band that connects to the spot next to your ears. Start massaging that area under the jaw bone then work your way around the corner of the jaw towards the ear.
Avatar m tn I had very severe neck pain along with pain in jaw line, dizziness and loose motions. The neck pain lasted for almost 2 months and now its totally gone..!!!as if it was never there. But after three months i am facing red/brown elevated spots on my fore ahead and below my jaw line area. Avatar m tn RA can affect your jaw, but if it's ONLY your jaw, I wouldn't jump to conclusions. In general, RA manifests with fever, overall body aches/fatigue, and swelling/redness/pain in more than one joint. Typically, to my knowledge, it rarely starts in the jaw. It'll be your knees, feet, or hands/wrists first. Jaw tightness and pain could simple be stress from worrying about the incident.
Avatar n tn anything wrong in my throat, although I feel heat around my ears, swelling of cheeks inside mouth, and a bruising like pain in the jaw from my ear to my chin. I am not however running a fever (like you might expect from some type of infection). Also, the pain does not improve or get worse when eating, chewing, talking, etc. I had a CT scan with dye done Friday and am waiting on the results, but am just curious if anyone else has ever had these symptoms.
Avatar n tn s know if you have ever had braces before, but if so, or if you grind your teeth, there is a very good chance you might have TMJ. It causes severe jaw pain because the jaw is not aligning correctly. If it is, you generally can not open your mouth as far due to tightening or sometimes you can even feel or hear it pop.
Avatar m tn s a very good idea to seek therapy ~ it can make a world of difference in your life! Regarding the jaw pain; clenching jaw muscles can affect your neck and jaw, it is actually a common symptom for many people who suffer from anxiety. If it is extreme, you can ask your dentist for a mouth guard, which can help reduce the pain and also save your teeth from any future damage ( use it at night while you sleep, or if you nap anytime)...
Avatar f tn s painful - I have constant positional head aches, pain in base of skull, difficulty swallowing, nasal pain , pain between my eyes, bridge of nose , between the shoulder blades neck - it goes on. Also it runs under my jaw and simply cannot be swallowed- tried EVERYTHING to alleviate it. Can someone shed some light on what it is as my doctor is baffled. Thanks.
659608 tn?1318289366 It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Avatar n tn so I had the tooth extracted. week later, STILL pain in the jaw line around the extracted tooth and now in my jaw joint. I now think it must be an infection in my jaw bone from the original root canal.
Avatar f tn 55%) when I went to a cardiologist because of jaw pain and heart palpitations. I am a 29 year old female, my total cholesterol is 152 and HDL is 77. Blood pressure is normal. My parents both have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and my paternal grandfather died of a heart attack in his 50s. The jaw pain is only on the right side and only when I exercise, but the palpitations can be anytime. I am taking armour thyroid for hypothyroid, as well as Frova for frequent migraine headaches.
Avatar m tn Almost a year ago, I had a crown loosen. My dentist removed it, and recemented it. Since that time, I've had increasing jaw pain. The tooth is the second molar from the back, left-hand side. My bite on the crown side has not felt right since the crown was reset. Also, I feel a slight heat or burning along my tongue on that side (not sharp or intermittent--just constant). I went back to the dentist, and she drilled down the crown a bit after testing my bite.
2932946 tn?1344722012 She also goes to a chiropractor for them to adjust her jaw. When he does her jaw, he only manipulates her mandible, so it may be ok for Chiari patients to try.
Avatar f tn For several years, I have experienced severe jaw nerve pain. The pain is located very deep in the jaw behind my teeth, almost in my neck. I have been to several dentists, had xrays and exams and they cannot find a problem. I liken the pain to eating a lemon....that piercing feeling you get in the jaw ...only multiplied about 50 times. This is very painful and aspirin, muscle relaxers, pain medication etc does not relieve it at all.
Avatar m tn hi i get jaw pain alot at night. i have a nite guard from the dentist but it doesnt always help. i get some bad headaches which is muscle pain as i get bothersome shoulders. and advil and tylenol dont help at all. the smornig i woke up and my left ear feels full. it was really itchy inside but only the outside of the ear hurts not the inside at all. i can feel that my jaw joint has like a knot in it. its the headaches i cant stand.
293157 tn?1285873439 TMJ can cause severe jaw pain, running all along the whole side of your face, up above your eyebrow, your sinus', and ear pain. If it is TMJ you should hear a clicking/popping noise when you open your mouth up & down and side to side. Headaches too as Dawn mentioned. Your dentist should be able to do a quick exam, and with a few questions determine if you have TMJ. Good luck, Dentists are a necessary evil IMHO!
