659608 tn?1318289366 I have been reading that women may have that kind of symptom before a heart attack. I had Rheumatic fever as a young child, and have never been told I had any heart damage. I have heart attacks in my family, my brother has had several bypass surgeries, and has a difibullar in place, and his heart is working at 20%. Is there a possibility this could be heart related, or is there some other cause? I would appreciate comments from anyone who has had this or knows someone who has.
Avatar n tn When people refer to jaw pain and heart attack where on the jaw is this referring to. Is it lower jaw or up near the cheek on the upper jaw. Is the pain intense or throbbing.
Avatar f tn "Jaw" pain can be a symptom of a heart attack in women, but your pain is constant and under your chin which isn't the jaw. Symptoms of a heart attack in women is jaw pain, nausea, severe fatigue and sweating, but we can also have chest pain, arm pain and numbness. Have you had heart problems in the past? If this really concerns you then it's best to go to the ER.
1547952 tn?1293907781 The symptoms you describe are what I felt leading up to another heart attack. Throat discomfort is always my first symptom and my warning. I remember my first time feeling this symptom, everyone kept telling me it was to do with heartburn. I was 46 years old, and was pretty sure I knew what heartburn felt like. This was totally different, it was a horrible sensation, nothing like a burning. Another clue as to whether or not this is angina, is when it occurs.
370181 tn?1595629445 Thanks so much for your response, selma. I didn't think about the vagus nerve being a possibility and I'd never heard of the condition you called "silent reflux." I was just incredibly relieved you didn't immediately say "run to your cardiologst as it might be a heart attack!" That is what I was fearing someone would say.
268356 tn?1236002604 Okay, has anyone else had jaw pain during pregnancy. I am having it on the right side and it hurts worse when I talk or when I eat. Just started today. However, jaw pain can also be a major symptom of a heart attack in women. What is your opinions. Anyone else?
Avatar n tn ve even had a mild heart attack, chest pain radiating from the chest to the lower jaw is a symptom of a heart attack, if you have any dizziness or feeling sick then see a doc straight away
Avatar f tn 55%) when I went to a cardiologist because of jaw pain and heart palpitations. I am a 29 year old female, my total cholesterol is 152 and HDL is 77. Blood pressure is normal. My parents both have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and my paternal grandfather died of a heart attack in his 50s. The jaw pain is only on the right side and only when I exercise, but the palpitations can be anytime. I am taking armour thyroid for hypothyroid, as well as Frova for frequent migraine headaches.
Avatar f tn 33 year old female, history of chest pain dates back almost 6 years. Also have pain in left jaw, neck, shoulder, arm, back and armpit areas. Have been diagnosed with sarcoidosis in the past year, confirmed by biopsy. Have moderately high blood pressure, which is controlled with medication. In the last year, I have had a treadmill stress test and a resting echocardiogram. Both indicated no problems. Over the past 6 years, I have had 3 EKG's also (the last one being about 2 years ago).
Avatar n tn High blood pressure is a symptom of something that could be wrong with your heart. Not everyone has the symptom. Normal blood pressure is 120/72. If a person has heart disease, the doctors usually want the blood pressure lower than normal.
Avatar f tn After looking online, it looks like the jaw pain (and arm pain?) could be a symptom of some kind of heart problem (maybe angina)? However, I have absolutely no chest pain, and I don't feel sick. I am fairly young (27) and a healthy weight. I don't want to bother my doctor - I've been in there a lot recently for other problems (aching joints, depression, a rash, etc.) And I feel like these are only 2 minor symptoms that will probably turn out to be nothing.
Avatar m tn I would recommend calling either your Dr or pharmacist to ask if the law pain is a possible symptom of you med. I been on a couple of meds that made the jaw pain and teeth clenching worse.
Avatar f tn t tooth pain and it was deep, not surface pain. Shortly after the jaw pain started, within about 30min, the pain started to spread up behind my left ear, down the left side of my neck, and into the top of my left shoulder. I then recalled an article I read about common heart attack symptoms in women that are often overlooked (jaw, neck, shoulder, arm, and back pain).
Avatar m tn After a brief activity or so, it goes away. I walked 6 miles today and did not have any jaw pain of any other symptom. I can't figure out what is happening.
Avatar f tn Did you have a previous jaw injury? Jaw pain is also on the list for a symptom of a cardiac event. Any possibility of that? Stress and posture issues can aggravate it. Have you tried any nsaids like ibuprofen or motrin for it? That would reduce any internal immflamation and acts as a pain reliever. Does it do anything for you? There are other meds they might use but this is where I'd go first for sure. Then if that doesn't work, they do have other things you can try . . .
2003325 tn?1327580228 Do you have risk factors for a heart ailment like obesity, smoking, hypertension, stress and hyperlipidemia. The pain of a heart attack is crushing pain, felt typically behind the breast bone in the centre or left, radiating to the left arm, jaw ,neck and face. There may be associated nausea, palpitations, sweating and shortness of breath along with the pain. You could be having a nerve compression of an exiting cervical nerve root in your neck causing this numbness in the arm.
Avatar m tn s a very good idea to seek therapy ~ it can make a world of difference in your life! Regarding the jaw pain; clenching jaw muscles can affect your neck and jaw, it is actually a common symptom for many people who suffer from anxiety. If it is extreme, you can ask your dentist for a mouth guard, which can help reduce the pain and also save your teeth from any future damage ( use it at night while you sleep, or if you nap anytime)...
Avatar n tn not similar to pain before stent inserted. Former pain was in chest, jaw, and arm. Is this heart related or spine ? Usually occurs at night, wakes me up. Very infrequent.
Avatar m tn Me being a pretty cautious dude, I searched the internet to try and solve my problems. But when I saw that it was a heart attack symptom my heart sank and I had a panic attack and felt like I was going to die. After I calmed myself down and walked home and told my mum about it. She said that i should I should wait a few days until I go to the doctor. During these days I developed very very minor chest pains, that was when I knew I needed to see a doctor.
Avatar m tn My father aged 66 years recently complained of jaw pain and went on to show a dentist who immediately asked him to get himself referred to a neurologist. The pain did not subside and we admitted him to the local hospital. All his tests were normal but there was a change in ECG during brisk walk. The doctors immediately referred him for catheter angiography. Instead we took him back home on medication and got a 128-slice CT Angio done. Attaching the results and report.
Avatar n tn I can say that when I was pregnant (though for a very short time ... 7 weeks) I got very dizzy without doing very much at all. It was my first sign of pregnancy actually ... I felt almost winded. I didn't have the sense to check my blood pressure like you have. You sound like you're taking all the necessary steps to assure that you both are taken care of. My doctor told me it was just a pregnancy symptom. However I've not heard of the jaw pain.
Avatar n tn I have frequent jaw pain, jaw numness and jaw that crack when I chew on something at some point. I saw a dentist lately and he told me that everithing is normal with my teeth an jaw on the x-ray. I also have pain in my ears due to that! My best guess whould be that it is a Chiari symptome.
Avatar f tn But the one that would concern me to immediately rule out is a cardiovascular reason. Women in particular can have lower left jaw pain during a heart attack. Now, I know this isn't presenting exactly that way for you but still is worth checking out. If you have any other symptoms with it like shortness of breath or chest discomfort, please go to the ER. The one thing that I think is fairly common is nerve compression called Trigeminal neuralgia. This is a big reason we get jaw pain.
