Avatar n tn That was the week I went in to get fitted for the night guard. I told my dentist about the pain and he said it was normal to feel pain a week after a filling. A week later, still having pain. That's when I realized that the filling was too high and I went in for an adjustment. They made the adjustment but then I developed pain in my left jaw. So I went in for another adjustment.
Avatar n tn Going back to your dentist to investigate the source of pain is advised.
Avatar n tn They are the best in the field for what you are going through. I ended up with pain in my chin, neck, jaw and my arm started going number, I am still having little headaches also. The prosthdontist is working with me on getting new crowns that will be done right. Not all General Dentists are bad, but alot of them just do not know how to do Occlusal adjustments is what I am finding out.
Avatar f tn Is it the tonsil causing a pain that extends to the lower jaw? I have many theories but non seems to put ease to my pain. It seems that my 3 dentist and my doctor are putting everything on the ENT now and to be honest after reading many posts here I feel the ENT will just say nothing wrong and am back to square one.
977806 tn?1249067346 Took 2nd shot this past Wednesday. Have actually had jaw pain off and on but really thought it was a dental problem but am thinking more along the lines of Sx now because it is in both jaws. I emailed my doctor earlier today. Has anyone else had jaw pain. Both jaws have been effected and right now it is throbbing a bit. I emailed to ask my doctor if I should go and see a dentist anyway even though it may be due to the drugs.
1809287 tn?1316744936 afterwards, i felt somewhat okay, but about two to three days after i started to feel this uncomfortable pain in my lower jaw bone. the pain is felt in my jaw, my throat, my temple, my neck and my ear. i am having constant headaches. the painkillers do help to ease the pain and discomfort throughout the day, but at night it becomes intolerable and extremely uncomfortable, making sleeping quite the chore. i have been in pain for a few days now, and am worried as to what it may be.
Avatar m tn I have no cavities and get my gums cleaned twice a year,I also visit my dentist once a year. The problem I have is that I can not turn my head to the left properly,I have pain up to the back of my neck on the left side, to under the skull, the back of my throat on the left side is swollen. When my tooth was playing up,which is the top back left molar,my throat was swollen on the left side, down to my lower throat.
Avatar n tn ) horrible place to try to get to! I was at the dentist for over 2 hours, today my jaw feels like someone very large punched me there. I like my dentist but talk about unprofessional! They kept having problems with the suction and I felt like I was drowning, The assistant placing my temp crown put my chair down and back all of the way and left me there for about 5 to 10 minutes, I asked her to please put me back up because I was getting a headache! This was after being tortured for 2 hours!
Avatar m tn I have been going back to him everyday for a week and the pain is not going away although it has changed. My tooth still feels unsettled and sensitive but the pain is concentrated in front of my ear ( this is pretty relentless) and in various places under and on the side of my jaw. The dentist has just prescribed more of the same antibiotics and said he can open the tooth up again if I want but he cannot guarentee the pain will go away. Dentists and doctors seem to only speak in code.
Avatar f tn The tooth already had a metallic filling in it and the tooth just broke out around the back. I went to my family dentist and they informed me that I would probably need a root canal. I went to a new dentist about two weeks ago. I was originally going for root canal but he did the vitality test and then decided I didn't need one (different dentist that originally prescribed root canal). He took the old filling out and filled it with some weird blueish/whiteish filling material.
Avatar n tn I had a lot of pain and went back to the dentist who adjusted the bite - the pain continued - went back to the dentist who removed the temporary crown to ensure no infection - no evidence of infection but I was given antibiotics as a precaution. I had the permanent crown fitted with temporary cement as there was still a lot of pain. THe pain continued so the dentist removed the crown and gave me root canal treatment and fitted the permanent crown. The pain has continued.
Avatar n tn I had pain in my jaw too and could not open my mouth to eat more than 1/2 inch. The dentist opened my mouth too wide . This problem went away after 3 days. Next time the dentist did not open my mouth so wide. I have a very small mouth so the average person may be able to handle their jaws to be opened very wide. Next time make sure you tell your dentist not to open it so wide. I think your jaw will get better in time. I would suggest taking Advil due to inflammation. Hope this helps.
1099201 tn?1338180918 What does after I had canker sores in my mouth and now I have jaw pain on the right side of my mouth.
650528 tn?1223993253 Going back to your dentist to have occlusion adjustment is advised.
Avatar m tn Going back to your dentist to find out whether there is tooth crack or pulp infection is advised.
Avatar n tn t understand pain, in this day and age, with any procedure. I guess this varies from dentist to dentist. As I said before, I asked for more novocaine twice and by the time he was stiching me up, i felt i could have had another one. I felt every single stich going in and it hurt. By then I was so anxious to leave, i said nothing. So, as long as your dentist/oral surgeon is good about keeping you pain free, I think you will be fine.
Avatar n tn The next day reached the dentist. Went to him and he filed down the tooth. But my jaw pain continued and it was difficult for me to open my mouth. The very next day I woke up and the front of my chin was numb and the front teeth on the right side where I had had the filling. Jaw pain was going into my ear. The next day could not reach the dentist went to emergency thought I was having a stroke. Doctor there said I had an infection gave me prescription for an antibiotic.
Avatar f tn My 14 yr old daughter started with jaw pain over a week ago. Pain so bad she cried constantly. Now an abcess showed up on her second to last tooth on the gum. We took her to the dentist who would not touch her mouth until she did a round of amoxil for 10 days. we are on the 3rd day, and the pain has increased and the swelling of the left side of her face is deforming. swelling is now going under her jaw and into the neck. Is the antibotics not working?
1947337 tn?1331423890 If it is a bad tooth im really scared to go to dentist because I had to have 2 jaw teeth pulled about 6 months ago because they were so bad granted, I have never had bad teeth before, anyway, getting those pulled were excrutiating and I was in pain for 3 months in my neck and jaw. I did not know at the time that I had chiari or I might have not had them pulled. I was only diagnosed about a month ago with a 20mm extension. Fixing to start PT and on pain meds, valium, and steroids.
1808083 tn?1316314114 I've recently had two dental crowns done on two lower molars. Very soon after the dental work was done, I started having alot of pain around the teeth which almost brought me to tears. As we were on holidays right after the work was done, I wasn't able to go back to my dentist right away. Instead I had a family member (who is a dentist) take a look. His thoughts were that there could be an infection. So he prescribed antibiotics and painkillers.
Avatar f tn I had a crown procedure 3 weeks ago today on my very last bottom tooth and am still suffering from incredible pain in my ear and jaw. I have been to urgent care and returned to the dentist. She performed an xray and said the tooth is fine. I was first given Valium and Aleve for relief. The relief from this treatment last about 1 hour and the severe pain returned. I was then put on flexoril which takes the "edge" off for a couple of hours.
Avatar n tn Through out the two to three week waiting periods between temporaries and permanent pieces I have had continuous jaw pain. My dentist thought perhaps I might be alergic to temporary cememt. Permanent crowns and bridges are now in place and it has been three weeks since any real work was done aside from just cementing the last bridge into place - I am still having major jaw pain. Enough to take up to 6 Advil a day. The pain is all along the jaw up to my temples and down my neck.
Avatar n tn Not the very back one but the next one forward. There was a cavity that the dentist was going to try to just fill but he said it would be better to go with a crown because I would probably need one in a couple of years anyway. The temporary crown was perfect. No pain whatsoever. The perm. crown was ok for about a week. Then it started to hurt when I would chew on that side. There was pain in the tooth and in the jaw area.
Avatar f tn Well all went well at the Dentist today. I have a little mouth and there was like four hands in it and on my face! It hurt a little but he deaden it some more. They kept mashing and whatever till I thought I was going to pass out. My nerves were shot. I could barley walk out. I really thought I was going to passout. All he did was put the healing caps on my post. I told them they were going to have to give me something next time. He told me to take motrin for my jaw and teeth.
Avatar n tn I am taking way too much ibuprofen. Had 2 crowns on bottom back 2 teeth in Feb. Continue to have pain in jaw/ear. Teeth don't hurt - I don't think they are terribly sensitive to cold. I have appt. Monday with dentist. What can he do - what can I tell him? Will xrays see if there is infection? What if I need root canal - what will happen to my crowns?
Avatar m tn alot of morning i wake up with one and im guessing its due to this jaw pain. is only on left side. do i go to the dentist or dr for this? had my wisdoms out yrs ago and had a bad infection, could this have anything to do with that?
Avatar m tn It is very painful. Your dentist can pack a dressing with some medicine in the socket to help with the pain--it may have to be done a couple of times.
Avatar n tn If the implant cannot be altered by smoothing it down, then the bottom tooth may have to be smoothed down to compensate. Your husband may wish to consider whether this is worth doing or to have the implant extracted. I don't know anything about xrays on teeth so I cannot comment on that.
Avatar f tn I then went in a few weeks later to have the cavities filled as there were 2 right next to each other that were very close to the root, but the dentist was able to just repair them with a filling and not a root canal. Right around the time I went back for the fillings, the pressure/pulling in my neck/jaw had returned and I told the dentist that and after the procedure was given a 2nd round of antibiotics. After a couple days, the pain all went away and I thought everything was fine.
