the side effects and the damage it was doing to my body was worse than MS. I hope it works well for others, but Imy body couldn't handle it.

m planning to start a new therapy without interferon. Does anyone who undergo new treatment experienced any severe side effects? I have doctors appointment on August 20. I really scared. Last time I was unable to function. Please share your experience.

s the interferon part of the med which causes depression, so yes, I would expect that Betaseron (interferon-beta-1b) would be more likely than Rebif to cause the problem as it is the highest dose of all. You are very welcome - in all ways.

Also, the type of interferon used is different than that in Betaseron. Betaseron is interferon beta-1b NOT interferon beta 2-b. These little points are important. Also, in discussing male sperm counts and motility one must consider many, many factors - not just the most notable med the person is on. A man's sperm count and activity may be affected by things we don't even think about like temperature, alcohol, depression, meds like anti-depressants or antihypertensives.

Some get really ill, with all side effects mentioned, others get some side effects, or not so severe and others fly through treatment. You can never know how you will react, until you get there. I have not started treating, yet, but I am preparing myself for the worst. If it won't be as bad as I expect, I will be happy. If it will be as bad, I will at least be prepared for it.

The one used for MS is Interferon Beta. They are not interchangable. Interferon beta is not effective against Hep C, and interferon alfa is not efffective against MS.

Did have to cut back to once a day on the riba due to side effects - anemia. Other mild, occasional side effects very manageable. Keep well hydrated !! That is your best friend. Drink, drink, drink !! My doc said to drink at least 50% of your weight in ounces of fluids. Wish I was a little thing ! And if you are a coffee drinker, you should double that amount....only half credit. So, I have stayed away from caffeine altogether.

ve heard so many stories from people who relapsed, and the side effects were horrendous. I know the outcome varies based on many things, such as, genotype, age and health condition. I am genotype 1b, last biopsy in 2010 showed I was a stage II, grade II. Is there anyone out there with the same genotype who did treatment and succeeded?
