26471 tn?1211936521 Studies conducted at the author’s center longer than a decade ago demonstrated that increasing the dosage of standard interferon from 3 to 5 to 10 mU and then to 20 mU three times weekly every 3 months in those patients who remained HCV RNA positive led to a stepwise increase in the overall percentage of patients becoming HCV RNA undetectable. Up to 80% of patients treated with this approach eventually became HCV RNA undetectable.
Avatar f tn Also, the type of interferon used is different than that in Betaseron. Betaseron is interferon beta-1b NOT interferon beta 2-b. These little points are important. Also, in discussing male sperm counts and motility one must consider many, many factors - not just the most notable med the person is on. A man's sperm count and activity may be affected by things we don't even think about like temperature, alcohol, depression, meds like anti-depressants or antihypertensives.
1149087 tn?1415316549 s the interferon part of the med which causes depression, so yes, I would expect that Betaseron (interferon-beta-1b) would be more likely than Rebif to cause the problem as it is the highest dose of all. You are very welcome - in all ways.
198419 tn?1360242356 I am no expert, but since three of the CRAB drugs are interferon beta (either 1a or 1b), they should all have the similar benefits/risks.
Avatar m tn The HCVerso clinical trial program includes two pivotal Phase 3 IFN-free studies that will enroll approximately 1,000 treatment-naive HCV genotype-1b (GT-1b) patients, including those who are interferon eligible or ineligible.
Avatar n tn one study i looked at said that a dose of 30 micrograms/week of IM interferon beta-1a was well tolerated but a dose of 60 micrograms/week caused severe flulike symptoms and elevated liver enzymes. im assuming that this type is similar to infergen, really strong. it seems like pegasys and pegintron dosages are somewhat similar.
Avatar f tn Hi there, last time I posted I was talking about my husband not really showing response to his 4 week tx. He was told to continue until week 12 and then they would let him know if he's going to continue tx. Thanks to you, we asked the question as to wether or not he could increase his dosage and his nurse called back and said the doctor thought that was a great idea.... Now, why didn't the doctor mention this... just shows we have to be on our toes.
648439 tn?1225058862 Even though you had low baseline viral load and was RVR? What was your baseline? Remind me. I know you were looking for studies for geno 1b RVR low viral load. Did your research make you decide to go the full 48?
3242988 tn?1359306516 I did 400mg 600mg ribiviran daily, incivek 12 weeks, interferon, same dosage all thru tx. It was my first tx. Had horrible sx, rash, nausea, depression, irritable and mean, insanity, hair loss. I will get copies of my labs. I'm feeling pretty good now. Just trying to get my brain functioning.
Avatar n tn As i said I have genotype 1b. I still dont really understand what 1a and 1b really means. Is 1b harder to be treated than 1a or viseversa. Im also willing to do any trails take one for the team.

Avatar m tn s first interferon-free regimen for genotype 1 (1a and 1b) patients by the end of 2014 or beginning of 2015, pending regulatory discussions. " It looks to me as though there could be several forms of interferon free treatment on or about 2015; Vertex, Gilead, possibly BMS or Abbott and possibly a few others.
Avatar m tn Today, Gilead announced that 9/9 previous null responders to interferon/ribavirin achieved SVR4 (UND 4 weeks post treatment) when treated with GS-7977, GS-5885 and ribavirin for 12 weeks. This data is from one of the ELECTRON study arms. I want to know how many of these 9 patients were GT 1a/1b. Does anybody have a link to this information?
Avatar f tn For this reason ‘pregnancy registries’ are often set up to record this data. Several recent papers have reported on pregnancy outcomes for interferon-beta 1b (Betaferon), teriflunomide (Aubagio) and natalizumab (Tysabri). " http://www.msra.org.
