Avatar f tn Examples are insulin zinc suspension, protamine zinc insulin, and the insulin analogues insulin glargine and insulin detemir. The latter two insulins are now the most widely used long-acting insulins. * Biphasic insulins: mixtures of short-acting and intermediate-acting insulins in different proportions, such as 30/70, 50/50. Examples are NovoMix 30, Humulin M3, Insuman comb and Humalog Mix25.
Avatar n tn http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/uspdi/500253.html and did find some info on skin changes .. "Less common or rare Depression of the skin at place of injection; thickening of the skin at place of injection; ..." This doesn't mention cellulite directly, but it sounds similar. Avatar f tn Insulinotherapy was initiated with glargine, ten units at bedtime (glycemic value before aministration was 169) after reiceiving 6 units of aspart imediately (7 pm). Next day a fasting value of 140 mg/dl. Bedtime value (2 hours postprandial ) 269. After 10 U glargine, fasting value 120 mg/dl. Glycemic variation are very important and depend on the thyroid status. What is your opnion? Is this a temporary glycemic instability, type 2 or type 1 diabetes?
Avatar f tn Or is there any other medicine which can be taken to maintain a normal blood sugar level...Right now, I am taking Novomix 30 (biphasic insulin aspart) and Volibo 0.2 (twice in a day-breakfast and Dinner time)...
Avatar f tn All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. These are the most COMMON side effects of Lantus. Redness, swelling, itching, or mild pain at the injection site.
Avatar n tn I'm another volunteer here and also not a medical professional. WAK is right that you should talk to your doc about this episode. While I haven't had the specific reaction you described, I can remember having some unusual symptoms if I accidentally injected into a blood vessel or muscle so that my insulin "hit" more quickly than it would otherwise. As you know, we strive to inject in fatty-tissue (subQ or subcutaneous) that is nourished by a healthy blood supply.
1246883 tn?1285547973 I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.

1041656 tn?1253394619 There are a number of insulin related drugs on the market with varying degrees of side effects. Since you kept your medications [injectable & oral] a secret from us it's impossible to answer your question. However, you can perform your own research investigation by Googling the name of the drug followed by the words "side effects" [w/o the " "].
Avatar n tn Hi, There can be side effects of low blood sugars mainly in you(shakiness, sweating, passing out, seizures) if the sugars go too low(usually below 40mg/dL is the level when most folks have serious side effects like passing out). There is risk of injury to your baby if you fall during a low episode. But overall insulin is safe for use in pregnancy and has been for many many years.
Avatar m tn Well, loss of balance, slurred speech, loss of memory and disorientation are not known side effects of Bonista injection, so in a way the neurologist was correct. However, if the symptoms are reappearing with the injections, then yes, there could be a connection, or the injection is causing these symptoms due to some drug interactions, if the patient is on other drugs. Do discuss this with your mother's doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hmmm, not everyone's side effects will be the same. In fact, you may not really have any side effects that you notice. My side effects were: racing heart - I lost about 5 lbs in 3 days. skin sensitive to the touch. feeling like I was beat up with a baseball bat on my back. shaking. and feeling like my achilles tendon was going to rip off. Just try to relax and take it easy. I hope all goes good for you.
Avatar f tn I had my first experience with Solu-Medrol infusion in early August. My relapse had just started and was worsening daily-right before I was due to start training for my new job! The immediate side-effects were quite obvious and well documented. I'm having less success finding out about long-term side-effects-in particular, rapid weight gain. I noticed the bloating quite early in my treatment, especially in my face and abdomen.
Avatar m tn As with all medication, discuss in detail with your doctor the potential risks and advantages of the prescribe medication, including side effects. Talk with the pharmacist too.
Avatar f tn Can you tell me about its side effects? Recently I went for a checkup and my doctor gave me Metformin for weight loss (It suddently went up to 99 kg though I was at 85 before and was following a strict diet plan). I don't have diabetes and I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS, and I think Metformin is generally used for these two issues. So I'm concened whether I should really be Metformin. Can it mess up my insulin system?
1045176 tn?1253403447 many people who have diabetes can manage this side-effect with proper exercise and by experimenting with their family doctors or their diabetes specialists to find a type of insulin (there are many different types) that does not have noticeable side effects or maybe has tolerable side-effects. But, still, what it comes down to, is that for someone with Type 1 Diabetes... without their medication, their insulin, regardless of side-effects such as weight gain, they would DIE.
