Avatar n tn per carbs, per starches, per snack, etc Most endocrinologists will put a diabetic patient who uses insulin on a sliding scale of insulin, depending on what the blood glucose is when you test before a meal. What did your doctor tell you?

Avatar n tn http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/uspdi/500253.html and did find some info on skin changes .. "Less common or rare Depression of the skin at place of injection; thickening of the skin at place of injection; ..." This doesn't mention cellulite directly, but it sounds similar. The site also has a clear caution to discuss these or any other changes with your doc.
Avatar f tn Insulinotherapy was initiated with glargine, ten units at bedtime (glycemic value before aministration was 169) after reiceiving 6 units of aspart imediately (7 pm). Next day a fasting value of 140 mg/dl. Bedtime value (2 hours postprandial ) 269. After 10 U glargine, fasting value 120 mg/dl. Glycemic variation are very important and depend on the thyroid status. What is your opnion? Is this a temporary glycemic instability, type 2 or type 1 diabetes?
Avatar f tn Or is there any other medicine which can be taken to maintain a normal blood sugar level...Right now, I am taking Novomix 30 (biphasic insulin aspart) and Volibo 0.2 (twice in a day-breakfast and Dinner time)...
Avatar n tn Did they happen to give protamine sulfate to reverse the heparin afterwards? If so, are you diabetic? Or how about the local anesthetic? Did they use procaine? Or how about the contrast dye used for imaging? Latex allergy? And next time, you can ask them to give corticosteroids beforehand, instead of the antihistamine, to try and lessen the reaction.
Avatar m tn Good day walking down the street and accidentally stepped on an insulin syringe, he was without a needle, old and covered with dust, and now I think if I could get HIV, because of the plastic syringe could scratch the foot through the sole of shoes.
886699 tn?1270779744 Has anyone tried the suspension tables as part of therapy for POTS? I went to a home show yesterday and was feeling very tired and tried hanging from one for about 10 mins and it felt sooo good! I was just wondering if this might be good for us. Thanks.

Avatar n tn 10 units (1/30cc=1 unit) of Novolin ge NPH (isophane insulin) mixed with 1.5 units of Novorapid (aspart insulin; Novolog in the US), abbreviated as N10 & RP1.5 respectively (2) dinner: RP2 (3) evening snack: N3.5) Even now, we're still just adjusting to the eating and injection schedule, and you will too. It takes time, and we'll never really "get used to it", but it's all we can do for our kids. Our son's last HbA1c check was 7.

Avatar m tn I had a bladder suspension 6 years ago and to my knowledge I had no problems up until now.. In the last 3 months I have had 2 severe bladder infections to the point where my blood pressure went super low. this last one put me down for 3 days..sleeping body aches fever etc. I have never been a sickly person so I question if the suspension could be the problem.
Avatar n tn It is a little scary meetin a new doctor for the first time. Is your pain under good control now? If it is, he may not change much, if anything. Since you didn't mention what your diagnoses are or the meds and treatments you do, I'm sort of generalizing. All doctors and practices vary. Some insist on treatments in addition to your meds, others see their patients every month while still others see them every three months. I always try to feel out their personalityatm first meetin.
Avatar f tn Mery christmas Doctors I want to get the professional advice my grandmother has diabetes and live in the very tiny town and require insulin shots she cannot take herself she needs someone to give it to her . There is a man in that town (not a doctor but as we call him in our country a “syringe operator”) he gives syringes and take blood samples and take money for that. Last week I was visiting her and saw the process.
519736 tn?1253986826 thanx for your quick reply. I did have black coffee right before the test. I have hypothyroidism. It was a new Endo I saw last June that ordered the blood work. He did not inform me of the insulin of 109 until August. And he told me I was "becoming insulin resistant". My glucose was normal. I'm confused. Are insulin and blood sugar the same thing?
Avatar f tn He has been covered for ALL his supplies, including insulin, through Medicaid, up until he is now at the age of 21-1/2 years old. He works for a minimum wage job and rents with his sibling. My question is, where does one go to get help getting their insulin for low cost? There is no way he can afford over $500 a month for his insulin and pump supplies.
Avatar n tn The currently accepted treatment of choice is a basal (long-acting) insulin like Lantus once or twice a day and a bolus or rapid acting insulin before meals. A fixed dose of bolus like you describe is not as good as developing a carb ratio. You need to take the correct insulin dose each meal to cover what you eat (unless you want to eat the same thing every meal!).
