Avatar n tn per carbs, per starches, per snack, etc Most endocrinologists will put a diabetic patient who uses insulin on a sliding scale of insulin, depending on what the blood glucose is when you test before a meal. What did your doctor tell you?
1554089 tn?1294855456 Humalog is insulin lispro, a rapid/fast acting blood glucose lowering agent. Humalog 75/25 is a mixture of insulin lispro solution [75] and insulin lispro protamine suspension [25], an intermediate-acting blood glucose lowering agent. Call your doctor's office for an explanation as to why you were put on fast acting alone.
Avatar n tn One way to find out what is causing the lows is to change the timing of your long acting insulin injection. If you are injecting NPH before bed, you can expect it to cause a low at about 3am. Try having this injection in the morning instead. If the night time lows stop, you have solved the problem. If they don't stop, it could be because of the combined effect of exercise and the dinner time short-acting shot.

Avatar n tn http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/uspdi/500253.html and did find some info on skin changes .. "Less common or rare Depression of the skin at place of injection; thickening of the skin at place of injection; ..." This doesn't mention cellulite directly, but it sounds similar. The site also has a clear caution to discuss these or any other changes with your doc.
Avatar f tn Or is there any other medicine which can be taken to maintain a normal blood sugar level...Right now, I am taking Novomix 30 (biphasic insulin aspart) and Volibo 0.2 (twice in a day-breakfast and Dinner time)...
Avatar m tn Hi, the length of time of vial of generic insulin depends on what your insulin dose is. For example. A vial of insulin has 1000 Units. If you are taking say 50 units a day, then this vial will last for 20 days. I used mixed insulin in the past, and while it can be quite effective, because it is a fixed amount of both medium and short acting insulin, you will need to eat on schedule to avoid going low.
Avatar n tn The other thing to mention is that sometimes Type 2 can be managed quite well on oral medications and never require insulin, whereas some require insulin form the start. Each individual is quite different,as can be their diabetes course. In regard to supplements, because the diseases are quite different especially at the start, it is not likely that any supplements will work for both. I am not sure what you refer to as "supplements"--I assumed herbal medications and vitamins.
Avatar m tn This is a particular drug that increases how the insulin is produced and utilized. It is a bit different in that it does not increase or decrease your insulin amount just enhances your own body's reaction to insulin. Makes it more sensitized.
Avatar m tn My fasting levels range between 126 and 136 ( first thing in the morning ) and during the day they keep coming down 90 to 108. They get to around 90 after a long brisk walk. I have had a glucose tolerance test done and the fasting reading was 136 and after 2 hours it was 115. So, I am kinda a confused. I have a diabetic reading for fasting, but a normal non-diabetic reading for the 'after 2 hours. So, what's going on?

1053848 tn?1254002462 Hi Couple questions: You have been diagnosed with Type II diabetes? For how long? The fact that your levels are creeping up so high says that your medication is no longer working correctly. It's time to see the doctor and see what changes he suggests. Given your good weight I also wonder if perhaps you, like me, were misdiagnosed as Type II? If you were diagnosed only within a year or two and oral meds are no longer working it is possible you are actually LADA/Type 1.5 as I am.
Avatar f tn People absolutely CAN prevent this from happening. Losing weight is a very good at and this is often accomplished through physical fitness (on a regular basis) and eating a healthy diet. High in vegetables, low in sugar/fat. Whole grains and fiber. This is one health issues that many can have a direct affect on by their own actions.
Avatar f tn m 71, diabetic, light headed-strange feeling in head, eye pain and floaters, numbness all over, staggering, confusion, legs feel heavy and no one knows what is wrong. I never do much anymore, because I'm never feeling well and not my old self.. People see I'm different lately. I can't remember words and can't pronounce some now. i had a bad fall recently. Avatar f tn I have high insulin levels and insulin resistance; it's never suppressed my appetite. I don't eat sugar either.
Avatar f tn Diabetes is not caused by what you eat. It's caused by hormones. Your body cant make and use the insulin it needs for pregnancy. Without enough insulin, glucose can't leave the body and be changed to energy, which causes a high build up of glucose in the blood. Some people become insulin dependent or it can be managed just by dieting. Normally everything goes back to normal after pregnancy.
Avatar n tn is it true that when a type one diabetis is getting older, the more insulin to inject into your body?
