Avatar n tn per carbs, per starches, per snack, etc Most endocrinologists will put a diabetic patient who uses insulin on a sliding scale of insulin, depending on what the blood glucose is when you test before a meal. What did your doctor tell you?
Avatar n tn http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/uspdi/500253.html and did find some info on skin changes .. "Less common or rare Depression of the skin at place of injection; thickening of the skin at place of injection; ..." This doesn't mention cellulite directly, but it sounds similar. The site also has a clear caution to discuss these or any other changes with your doc.
Avatar m tn injury etc Her insulin brand was changed from Novomix (mix of 30% insulin aspart and 70% protamine crystallised insulin aspart) to Biocon brand (30% as soluble insulin injection and 70% as Isophane insulin injection) recently.
Avatar f tn Also diabetes II can be treated by medication to help the pancreas produce insulin but Diabetes I is a much more serious condition which requires insulin as the pancreas has completely stopped working. I think an Endo is in order here as with all diabetes II...it can turn into diabetes I if not controlled properly. Diet can also help the diabetes II with meds and also a low GI diet.

Avatar f tn Examples are insulin zinc suspension, protamine zinc insulin, and the insulin analogues insulin glargine and insulin detemir. The latter two insulins are now the most widely used long-acting insulins. * Biphasic insulins: mixtures of short-acting and intermediate-acting insulins in different proportions, such as 30/70, 50/50. Examples are NovoMix 30, Humulin M3, Insuman comb and Humalog Mix25.
Avatar f tn Or is there any other medicine which can be taken to maintain a normal blood sugar level...Right now, I am taking Novomix 30 (biphasic insulin aspart) and Volibo 0.2 (twice in a day-breakfast and Dinner time)...

Avatar n tn Seeking advice on medication and/or medication dosage changes on a public health forum is inadvisable. Not only are there no doctors on this forum we are not privy to your medical history or records. Please direct your question to your attending physician.
Avatar f tn t shared any specifics but said he takes it due to heavy drinking in his younger years. He is 57 years old and is also insulin dependent diabetic. Can someone speculate on how serious this is? He still drinks quite a bit so I am concerned.
Avatar m tn hi i am neethu,my mom has type 2 diabetes since 1 yr and age is 43 yrs, First time we consulted 1 doctor he gave some tablets but my moms sugar level was around 220-230 range and later due to his selfish nature to gain more money has suggested insulin intake at earlier stage itself which was not needed and was harmfull, so we left that doctor and consulted other doctor and her BP is always at normal range only, empty stomach sugar test range is 160-163, and after breakfast sugar test range is 1
Avatar f tn I cannot stress how important that is, along with medication. Also, be sure that the doctor prescribing your medication is a child/adolescent psychiatrist. There are a lot of special considerations with non-adults and psych medications. Best to you, keep us posted on how you're doing okay?
Avatar m tn Hypoglycemia may occur as a result of an excess of insulin relative to food intake. As with all medication, discuss in detail with your doctor the potential risks and advantages of the prescribe medication, including side effects. Talk with the pharmacist too.
Avatar m tn Type 2 diabetics may require an insulin prescription if oral medication and proper nutrition [diet], exercise, and suitable body weight cannot control their glucose [blood sugar] levels adequately.
Avatar n tn From my experience, when I switched medication, even if it was just a different brand of insulin, my body went out of whack for a week or two until it got used to it.
Avatar n tn diabetes where the pancreas can no longer make insulin or no longer make enough insulin (even with drug support to increase insulin production / increase tissue sensitivity to insulin). This often occurs with people who've had type 2 diabetes for years (a close friend has just had this happen), and when this does (or the pancreas can no longer make enough insulin to control blood sugar) insulin will be required.
Avatar n tn insulin/breakfast, gereric 3-hour Ritalin, morning school, insulin/lunch, more gereric 3-hour Ritalin, afternoon school, snack/insulin, more gereric 3-hour Ritalin, karate, dinner/insulin, snack, bedtime. If we deviate from this schedule in the least, it throws everything off. Also, his ADHD hyperactivity increases dramatically with high blood glucose, significantly affecting his ability to get along with other people. Add that into normal teen emotional issues, and you have a real mess.
Avatar n tn t control with diet (low carb works best) and oral medication, and exercise, it will be recommended to use insulin. Insulin is a powerful and very useful medication for diabetics. It is not to be feared, but you will need to learn to use it safely. Normal HBA1C is in the 4s or low 5s. 7.5 is well above normal. Truely normal fasting (is in the 80s) and 2 hours after eating should have returned close to fasting level. Your numbers are very much above this.
Avatar n tn Hi, metforming 500 mg is a low dose. You may need to continue this medication (it is an insulin sensitiser) along with low carb diet and exercise. Non-diabetic blood sugar levels are < 95 for fasting (ideally in the 70 - 90 range) and < 120 post eating. These should be your targets, and if you can acheive them, then would be the time to look at stopping medications.
Avatar m tn He said sugar levels were normal but insulin levels were extremely low and put me on a medication called Metformin used for type II diabetics. I have used this medication 500mg twice a day at meal time and it seems to be helping all of my symptoms, and I am begining to lose weight. Since my foot is better I am allowed to work out on recumbant bike and elliptycal machine for an hour a day which also helps in weight loss.
Avatar f tn drink lots of water, eat nothing with carbs in it, exercise (walking may be ideal). If your blood sugars are consistently this high, please see your dr and get properly treated. Low carb diet, exercise, and being sure that body weight is optimal are the natural ways to treat diabetes. If this is not enough, then medication (oral or insulin) are necessary. Please do get this look at and properly managed for the sake of your health.
