Try putting some infant probiotic powder into her bottle. If you can't get infant, get an adult capsule and open it and put a few of the grains into her bottle or right onto her tongue and then feed her. It's been tested and works better than Gripe Water or Mylicon.

She also spits up a lot. I took her to doctor and they gave her Zantac. From what I was describing, doctor said it sounds like Acid Reflux. I have not given her the Zantac yet. Do you think having Acid Reflux can cause so much gas? Has anyone used Zantac for their newborns? Any side effects?

Mylicon is good! and its also useful to have alcohol and q tips to clean baby's belly button!

I've had horrible heartburn with all 3 of my pregnancies and all of my babiea were extremely hairy. Currently I'm taking prevacid in the morning and then zantac 150 2x a day and still eat the smoothie tums and alka seltzer. My ob said next appt if no better she will prescribe me something. I go back the 26th and am seriously counting down the days so I feel ya. I wake up with it when I haven't ate or drank all night. Good luck.

She is on medication for the reflux, we feed her upright and small portions, burp often. We use Mylicon and Gripe Water. On the days we do not give her baby food, just formula she will sleep through the night and her gas is milder and manageable. Will she grow out of this or does this indicate a more serious problem?

Brock is on Zantac for the reflux. I have no clue if it works or not. He also has cereal in his bottle, and we switched to soy. He still has super fussy times, even after feeding, diaper, napping...I am starting to think baby #1 is my high maintenance baby, so #2 better be easy going! Good luck...hope it works for Hayden! We also have a blanket under his crib mattress, about a 30 degree angle, for help with the reflux.

My little guy is having the same problem. I can't stand to see him in pain. I use Mylicon and it helps a bit. I will look for Colic Calm and see if that helps.

I also try bicycling his legs and putting a bit of pressure on his tummy. Look up infant massage and you could watch videos of it. Do you breastfeed or bottle feed?

I was born with acid relfex and I've had it my whole life, the doctor I had when I was a baby overdosed me on zantac which caused me to have pulmonary, lung, and more stomach issues. So I'm wondering could that have long term effects because I'm still dependent on medicine to keep me from being sick and I wanted to know if there is cause for a malpractice suit?

We are trying him with all the usual treatments, - gaviscon, omeprozole, zantac, domperidon... you name it...- and he is responding to non of these, which is quite normal, some babies don't and just have to suffer til they grow out of it, and we can help as much as poss keeping them upright etc. His stools are totally liquid - understandably, (though usually there is some gritty bits in other babies I've looked after).

As far as what to have on hand I always have a thermometer, Mylicon, Infant Tylenol (off-brand), Hydrocortisone, Vaseline, Vapor Rub (believe me, sooooooo handy to have available when your little one gets the sniffles in the middle of the night). I really want a Temporal Thermometer but haven't invested in one. We just have the basic digital ones.

Hey! My DD has severe GER and a possible cows milk/soy protein allergy. We bottle feed and I'm relactating and giving it to her in a bottle. She's on Zantac and it helps way more than the elevated mattress and rice cereal. DD got to where shhe was projectile vomiting after almost every feeding. She's also on hypoallergenic formula (Nutramigen), and she's like a brand new baby. No more vomit, no more arching her back and drawing her knees up in pain, and she's all smiles!

With one of mine, she had reflux. She was BF and was put on Zantac at first and that worked for a short time but then stopped working. The ped then put her on Prevacid and she was like a new baby. That may end up being what needs to happen.

It is bothering her, b/c she will bring her legs up to her stomach and her face will turn red and then she will kick her legs out stiff and pass gas.. Any advice of what else to do or anything else she can take..

The bottle says you can give up to 12 times, I think, but pediatrician said to only give 4 times a day, so that is what we are doing. My mom is keeping Reece tonight so mommy and daddy can have some sleep.

But I think I just discovered the miracle cure called MYLICON, its gas drops for babies and very safe to use! She has been wonderful the past few nights and we are in heaven! Feel like we can finally enjoy her instead of being totally stressed all the time.

Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.

I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?

I was hoping there was still a pediatric GERD forum... I have scanned posts and most seem to be adults. Anyone out there with a baby suffering? Your posts make me sooo sad for the babies who suffer with this. I can't even imagine what it must be like to go through that and not know what's wrong, why you hurt, etc... My daughter is 5 months old and has silent reflux. She has been on Zantac since 4 weeks old, but it just wasn't doing enough.

She was drinking both bottle and breast milk till she was 5 week old and all of a sudden she stopped taking both breast and bottle and shows no hunger and now we have to encourage her each feed. She take 1 to 2 ounce every feed. Totally she takes 15 to 16 ounces of milk in 24 hours time. This too after so much of encouragement. What could be wrong with her. As the others have mentioned, the infant digestive tract is still developing and maturing during the first 6-8 months of life outside the womb. As a result, it is very common for their stomach contents to back flow up the esophagus and out of the mouth. I used to swear if my kids kept down half of what I fed them they would have been in the 180th percentile rather than just being over the 95th+ ;-) It does pass by about 6 months of age, some a little later.
