Zantac overdose infant

Common Questions and Answers about Zantac overdose infant

zantac

Avatar f tn How do I overdose on zantac? I am supposed to take two and I was running late so I just poured some into my hand. Usually I always just get two out of the bottle. When I came back I counted my pills and I actually took 3. My stomach is now hurting. I am 15, and I don't know what to do? Please tell me if I am going to be okay.
Avatar n tn PLEASE help. My question is do you think my child's liver, kidney, or heart could be damaged? How would I know? Here is the story: Greyson had a 102 fever for four days straight with no other symptoms while we were on vacation. I called the Dr.'s office in Florida and the receptionist who answered the phone just said to give him tylenol. That is what I had been doing-it would relieve the fever for just a bit but it would shoot right back to 102 as soon as it wore off.
1330108 tn?1333677304 I know there are several of you ladies who have had your fair share of the challenges with GERD in their infant. Help!! Ellie was born preemie and shows classic signs of GERD. I had her at the dr she is gaining weight we got the spitting up under control by slowing her feedings and sitting her upright for 20min after meals.
5739386 tn?1378836460 I suggest talking to your Doctor. I am currently 26 week and my Doctor perscribed me Zantac which you can get over the counter. I have had heartburn bad for years so mine isn't due to just pregnancy. Now my Dr said Tums were good to take expecially because of the calcium. Every Doctor is different so that is why I suggest talking with your Doctor first. I hope you get relief soon!
3055148 tn?1368211800 I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?
3055148 tn?1368211800 Has anyone ever taken Zantac? My doctor told me to take that everyday instead of taking tums b/c they are pointless, but I kinda don't wanna take medicine.
7349088 tn?1390657733 Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.
171768 tn?1324230099 I was hoping there was still a pediatric GERD forum... I have scanned posts and most seem to be adults. Anyone out there with a baby suffering? Your posts make me sooo sad for the babies who suffer with this. I can't even imagine what it must be like to go through that and not know what's wrong, why you hurt, etc... My daughter is 5 months old and has silent reflux. She has been on Zantac since 4 weeks old, but it just wasn't doing enough.
Avatar m tn I know this is many many years after your post, but my son is experiencing the exact same thing. Did she eventually outgrow it? Did the Zantac help?
Avatar f tn My 18 week old baby girl has gerd although zantac has taken away the pain and carobel somewhat helps the vomiting. She is only 11lb 4oz and is in the 2nd centile. She only takes 4 5oz bottles of nutramigen 1 each day and when I try to give her more she just vomits it up due to her reflux. However she has extreme flatulence at night from 11pm right through until 7am. It is constance, is foul smelling and doesnt stop with the result neither she nor I sleep.
Avatar n tn We are trying him with all the usual treatments, - gaviscon, omeprozole, zantac, domperidon... you name it...- and he is responding to non of these, which is quite normal, some babies don't and just have to suffer til they grow out of it, and we can help as much as poss keeping them upright etc. His stools are totally liquid - understandably, (though usually there is some gritty bits in other babies I've looked after).
Avatar m tn We got discharged from hospital, apparently doctors think the low oxygen level is due to reflux. So we are giving Zantac to manage it. We got the sleep apnea monitor and the pulse oximeter at home. We never had any alarm on the apnea monitor. But the pulse oximeter shows saturation at 86-90 while the baby is in deep sleep. Doctors are also saying she will outgrow this soon.
Avatar n tn My 5 yr old has always had stomach issues. When he was an infant, lots of reflux, constipation. Then as a toddler he has struggled with constipation and stomach aches. He has been on Miralax for years. The past few months the stomach aches are daily. He is not constipated now, having a bm everyday. The constistancy of the stools seem to vary greatly throughout the day, though. Sometimes soft and then the next one may be hard.
1330108 tn?1333677304 s safe to try infant gas drops. So we have done that and yay it helps. We also have her bassinet propped Approx 30 degree so she isn't flat on her back. BUT she had another projectile incident this evening. Mid BF session it just came pouring out with no warning. What do I do?!?  It's much more upsetting to me than her an I'm afraid to sleep at night because she still does sometimes spit up.
Avatar n tn Well, an overdose of ibuprofen is usually marked by drowsiness, stomache pains, and trouble breathing. I have never heard of hallucination being a side effect. That being said, when giving our little one's any medication including over the counter, it is extremely important to stick strictly to dosing instructions. I know the bottle I buy of infant tylenol or ibuprofen show recommended doses based on age and weight and of course frequency. Do not ever give more then she should get.
168348 tn?1379357075 my daughter uses the solutab, you cant really give a ton of water to an infant. you could ask the pharmacist. i think the tabs are easiest, just pop it in and they disolve.
Avatar f tn This too after so much of encouragement. What could be wrong with her. Her doc said she might have GERD and she is on Zantac for a week now with no improvment.
Avatar m tn She was prescribed Prevacid three weeks ago as she was still irritable after 4-6 weeks of Zantac. After she started Prevacid she was less irritable but developed side-effects including giving up napping during the day and green, mucus-like foul smelling stool (started this week). Oh yeah, she also has a milk protein based sensitivity. My wife is still nursing but has given up all dairy and dairy-like foods. Any help as to what this may mean or if this is serious?
593603 tn?1229378162 Does anyone know if you can take Zantac 75 during your first trimester for heartburn? I took it with my first pregnancy, but it was a lot later in the pregnancy. I am dying here, and need a fix.
Avatar f tn He clearly has issues beyond the diagnosis (by his Dr.) of ADHD. His birth mom (who has passed from an overdose of same meds) took Ativan while pregnant with him. She took MUCH more than recommended even when not pregnant. So, my question is this: has anyone done research to find out the long term effects of this and other drugs on children who were gestated with this drug along with several other meds?
Avatar f tn Intense heat can get to anyone, just like you and I may not feel well after being in the heat. It may be that the heat is upsetting her stomach. If you notice that she is spitting up a lot more when in the heat than when in the air, I would keep her inside. Bummer for you but better for her.
Avatar n tn Agree with 1st response. If your son has a GI Ped, request some Neocate Infant Formula (Elecare didn't work as well for us). Stop breastfeeding. If you want to continue nursing you will have to do an elimination diet for at least 2 wks before resuming nursing---that means no soy, dairy (watch for casein and whey), wheat, shellfish, eggs, tree nuts, and peanuts. You will have to read every ingredient you put in your mouth. It takes at least 2 wks to get dairy out of your breast milk.
Avatar f tn BUT I have seen many many thru the years post that they have issues that disappear with the right med. There are other meds out there (not sure if they are all FDA approved for infant usage, though so you must discuss with your Dr but when the risks outweight the benefits they will oftentimes use the med) .. Zantac and other supressors are a thought .. they can be given up to 3X a day with Mylanta inbetween if your Dr. agrees .. A Pedi GI may be the way to go at this point ..
