milk

1205562 tn?1554747006 I recently heard that drinking one dark beer a day can really help increase your milk supply because of the yeast in the beer. I was skeptical so I researched it a little. And turns out, that yes, it's true!! Beer is second to napping for increasing milk supply!!! So for those of you who like a dark beer... drink up!! :-) My friend has twins and all the nurses told her to drink a beer every day for increased milk supply. Just a bit of information that I thought I'd share.
Avatar f tn t the right forum but I feel more comfortable asking questions here...I had my daughter on the 9th and at first I had a really good milk supply where my breast would become engorged every two hours if I didn't pump or feed regularly....and I was pumping 2/3 ounces from each breast every time.....now I can hardly get an half an ounce :(....I try to have my daughter on my breast every two hours but it seems like she gets so irritated because nothing is coming out....
741877 tn?1265950200 this is also another reason why I thought my milk supply is dwindling... I did notice that after a nice warm shower my right breast is leaking milk.. I guess this is a good sign that there's still some milk there??
4437866 tn?1388119624  Growth spurts are normal at around 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months. Be prepared and breastfeed as much as possible when you are together.
Avatar n tn I exclusivly BF my son for 12 and a half months, when ever my milk supply would run a little low on milk I would drink lots of water, eat hearty foods and...even though this may come as a shock to some people and seem bad to others I had one beer each day right after one of my LO's feedings, so that the alcohol would not go directly in to his blood stream, it worked great!!!
Avatar f tn I rubbed breast milk on my nipples after every feed and let them air dry for at least a few minutes. The breast milk trick is probably the best one of all of these. There are antibacterial properties in breast milk which aid the healing process and also lower your chances of getting an infection like thrush or mastitis. You should never wash your nipples with soap. Washing with water when you normally shower is all that is necessary.
Avatar f tn As another poster had stated, I don't get hardly anything when I pump. If baby is happy and is gaining weight and having wet diapers, then I wouldn't worry about it. My breast size went down at about 6 weeks but baby is still just as happy and healthy as before.
Avatar f tn Does stress make your milk supply decrease? I have been under lots of stress and the past few days I'm barely getting 2 ounces out when I pump vs. the 5-8 ounces I usually get. Does stress have anything to do with this?? I don't want to have to give little man formula...
Avatar n tn I have been seeing recipes and pre made cookies at baby stores and read a lot about them increasing milk supply. I had a lot of postpartum issues with my first daughter and gave up trying to breastfeed the first time around. I am 32.5 weeks pregnant with a son and really want to build a strong supply. Has anyone tried these with success?
Avatar f tn What worked for me was 1 breast per feeding (alternating each breast at each feed) unless my dd was going through a growth spurt and then I would offer the 2nd breast and start with that same breast at the next feeding. This allows maximum hind milk. Also, it is normal for one breast to produce more than another. For me, it was my left breast. This didn't change the way I fed my dd though. And yes, you might look slightly lopsided but it won't stay that way.
2121625 tn?1350484749 def dont suppliment, it will be a growth spurt, just put him to breast as often as he wants and your milk supply will increase to his demands, also you shouldnt feel engorged anymore as your milk supply will be regulated by how much your bub is having :)

1128483 tn?1277340286 So, is anyone pumping? I noticed at least one other comment on increasing milk supply post of a pumper but I was wondering how much your pumping, and if you've noticed it increasing? Have you felt engorged at all? I'm pumping every 3 hours (4 at night) and I'm getting 4-5 oz each time. I haven't felt engorged at all so I'm worried I'm not helping my supply increase enough. With my son I would pump 5 oz on each side when my supply was going good.
Avatar f tn I breast fed my daughter and I always had extra to put in the fridge. I just had to pump at the time she usually had to feed and I kept producing alot of milk.
Avatar f tn I need help on how to increase my milk supply?? Please help..my twins are in the nicu nd I'm pumping for them but they are going thru my milk faster than I thought nd dnt know wat to do to produce more..any advice will help.
Avatar f tn I thought freezing breast milk was only good for 2 weeks..? I'd look that part up or ask a dr first if I were you. Would hate to give your baby old milk!
Avatar f tn Why havent i start gettun breast milk yet nd im 6 months pregant now wen do u suppose to start leakin
1454858 tn?1306784378 I agree it shouldn't hurt if the baby has a proper latch. it can be a bit uncomfortable when your breasts are full and the baby first begins to suck, but as soon as milk begins to let down the discomfort should ease. I honestly believe that smaller breasts are an advantage while breastfeeding. I have (now)36EE's and while BFing I had FF's...so trying to maneuver the nipple was difficult and it was almost easy to move baby around to fit the nipple instead of vice versa...
4643945 tn?1363372357 ive heard of it being effective for increasing breast milk supply never heard about it inducing labor though
Avatar n tn Your body just knows how much milk to make now and so its not making more than what the baby needs.
Avatar f tn Put some of your actual breast milk on yourself. It helps with the cracks and soreness. Also, the lactation specialist at my hospital gave me some gel pads. They are amazing. They work the same way for burns.
Avatar f tn You'll produce milk after birth and then 10 days you should get your full supply in. Baby's can only hold a tablespoon of milk in their tummy until 6 days old so dont worry and they also make vitamins and teas for moms to help boost the supply.
Avatar f tn i will be breast feeding, and pumping so my boyfriend can have thay bond with the baby. i will also be freezing breast milk, im going to try to have enough breast milk for 6 months, weather its directly from me or frozen.
Avatar f tn I read online pumping in the morning is best because thats when you produce the most milk. I want to have breast milk ready so I can have help with feeding when she is home since im planning to start work and school almost right after birth.
Avatar n tn I've heard that breastfeeding regularly works better than the pump to improve supply. It's still early, keep trying. Your milk supply should kick in soon. Some women also take a supplement called milky which supposedly helps.
