1205562 tn?1554747006 I recently heard that drinking one dark beer a day can really help increase your milk supply because of the yeast in the beer. I was skeptical so I researched it a little. And turns out, that yes, it's true!! Beer is second to napping for increasing milk supply!!! So for those of you who like a dark beer... drink up!! :-) My friend has twins and all the nurses told her to drink a beer every day for increased milk supply. Just a bit of information that I thought I'd share.
7590082 tn?1392496513 It also ensures a really good milk supply, as breast milk is a supply and demand situation. Your body will automatically make more. Also, there are some herbs that help, from blessed thistle, to fenugreek, etc. the easiest thing is Traditional Medicinals Mother's Milk tea. You may have to order it online if you don't have a local health food store. Also, add coconut oil to your diet as coconut oil is made up of medium-chain fatty acids and has Laurie acid, same as breast milk.
Avatar f tn t the right forum but I feel more comfortable asking questions here...I had my daughter on the 9th and at first I had a really good milk supply where my breast would become engorged every two hours if I didn't pump or feed regularly....and I was pumping 2/3 ounces from each breast every time.....now I can hardly get an half an ounce :(....I try to have my daughter on my breast every two hours but it seems like she gets so irritated because nothing is coming out....
Avatar m tn For women breastfeeding, fenugreek seeds are used to help increase milk supply. Taking Fenugreek at the required amounts helps to increase breast milk, the only real side effect may be that their skin has a maple syrup smell. Fenugreek has been found to increase a women’s milk supply within 24-72 hours of taking the supplement. Once obtaining the results wanted, most women can decrease the amount of Fenugreek needed and stop all together.
1209036 tn?1299178657 Is baby latched right? If so, after the initial pain it will subside. If not, it will continue to hurt. Your nipples also need to get used to BFing, so it might be a little painful for a few weeks. The best way to increase supply is for the baby to be put to the breast often. If you can't do this, pump every 2-3 hours, and through the night. You can also take fenugreek and blessed thistle and these should help up your supply.
796506 tn?1370188305 I would suggest feeding baby on demand and pumping for 20-30 minutes after baby finishes feeding as to increase milk supply. I would also suggest that you drink lots of water and eat oatmeal it that is something you like to eat.
Avatar f tn I looked online last night and read several things saying that the cabbage leaves just help with the pain of the breast being swollen.
Avatar f tn Does stress make your milk supply decrease? I have been under lots of stress and the past few days I'm barely getting 2 ounces out when I pump vs. the 5-8 ounces I usually get. Does stress have anything to do with this?? I don't want to have to give little man formula...
1399033 tn?1449587779 It is important to consume enough fluids and nutrients to support milk production. Have you started to switch your baby to formula or breast milk bottle feedings? For some women pumping isn't enough... they need suckling to stimulate production. There are supposed to be herbs you can take to encourage milk production, but I'd speak to a local La Leche League person if you can to find out what is going on with you.
Avatar f tn What are natural ways to increase your breast milk supply? I'm skeptical of trying medicine, are there natural ways that has actually worked for you? I would like to hear 1st head experience. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have been seeing recipes and pre made cookies at baby stores and read a lot about them increasing milk supply. I had a lot of postpartum issues with my first daughter and gave up trying to breastfeed the first time around. I am 32.5 weeks pregnant with a son and really want to build a strong supply. Has anyone tried these with success?
Avatar n tn I exclusivly BF my son for 12 and a half months, when ever my milk supply would run a little low on milk I would drink lots of water, eat hearty foods and...even though this may come as a shock to some people and seem bad to others I had one beer each day right after one of my LO's feedings, so that the alcohol would not go directly in to his blood stream, it worked great!!!
4643945 tn?1363372357 ive heard of it being effective for increasing breast milk supply never heard about it inducing labor though
741877 tn?1265950200 this is also another reason why I thought my milk supply is dwindling... I did notice that after a nice warm shower my right breast is leaking milk.. I guess this is a good sign that there's still some milk there??

327668 tn?1224792350 Mothers around the world have been using it obscurely as a natural way to increase breast milk, mothers produce copious amounts of highly nutritious milk for their infants. Avatar f tn A breast reduction is the removal of extra fat stored in the breast, some woman who have had a reduction experience low milk supply. But that's not the case for every situation and there are most certainly several remedies, herbs and medications to help with those such things if they were in fact to occur.
Avatar f tn It's not recommended that you express breast milk regularly before delivering baby. If I were you I'd be questioning my midwife. Expressing breast milk can put you into preterm labor as it releases oxytocin which causes uterine contractions. Also it can make it so you don't develop a good supply after baby is born.
Avatar f tn I had took a breastfeeeding class today and the nurse said the more u bottle feed your baby and breastfeed less the less milk you will produce and the more ypu breast feed the higher your milk supply will be
Avatar f tn Malt is great for increasing breast milk perhaps that's what it is. I drink a malt-based drink (Ovaltine) which I love (regardless of that fact) but also fenchel and anise teas are very good. Not only do they increase your supply (drink 3-4 cups a day) but help when the baby has gas.
