milk

741877 tn?1265950200 this is also another reason why I thought my milk supply is dwindling... I did notice that after a nice warm shower my right breast is leaking milk.. I guess this is a good sign that there's still some milk there??
Avatar f tn thanks girls, it reasuring to hear others have experienced this to, iv been feeling like iv failed him, i almost gave up compleetly last night as he didnt stop looking to be fed, did you feel like your breasts were empty during this time to? iv been looking at ways to increase milk supply and fenergreek seems to be quite good. he is having at least 5 dirty nappys a day and a couple more than that wet ones, altho sometimes the dirty ones are quite small amounts and other times quite full.
Avatar f tn t the right forum but I feel more comfortable asking questions here...I had my daughter on the 9th and at first I had a really good milk supply where my breast would become engorged every two hours if I didn't pump or feed regularly....and I was pumping 2/3 ounces from each breast every time.....now I can hardly get an half an ounce :(....I try to have my daughter on my breast every two hours but it seems like she gets so irritated because nothing is coming out....
Avatar f tn My milk supply is decreasing and even though I supplement my baby with formula I want to still give him breast milk. After the milk supply has decreased can I or I mean how can I get it back up, and is it possible?
Avatar f tn I say keep pumping and feed all breast milk you can. At 3 wks u should still be pumping or feeding every 2 hours to keep your supply going. It ***** to get up so often but trust me it's temporary. If he's not getting enough you may have to supplement and it's ok. It's also ok if you have to switch to formula exclusively. Pumping is not for everyone. I believe in breast milk but ultimately just keep him fed. I had to switch. My levels never came up.
Avatar f tn So my boyfriends roommate told me that if you drink one beer a day it will help with the production of breast milk..he has a son and said thats what the nurse told his chids mother while breastfeeding...dont really know if i should believe it and would like some insight. i am currently trying to breastfeed my 1 week old daughter but im having a little bit of difficulty beacsue she was 4 weeks preterm.
Avatar f tn I breast fed my daughter and I always had extra to put in the fridge. I just had to pump at the time she usually had to feed and I kept producing alot of milk.
Avatar f tn Oh my gosh I just read this and posted the same thing! I've been pumping and feeding her because she won't latch. At least she's still getting breast milk. I sometimes can't get enough and mix formula but that's because I have manual pump but I'm getting electric this weekend.
Avatar f tn I'm 16 and 8 months pregnant. I was wonder what breast milk is made out of..? I tried google-ing it from my phone but it doesn't seem to let me look up that sort of question.
Avatar n tn I've heard that breastfeeding regularly works better than the pump to improve supply. It's still early, keep trying. Your milk supply should kick in soon. Some women also take a supplement called milky which supposedly helps.
Avatar f tn I was only able to EBF my first for 3 months but since she was 5lbs at birth and she was a crazy super chunky thing at 3 months I know the BM did it's job while it could. She never got sick until she was on formula but I know the BM helped with that so I'm making sure this time I keep up with it the right way.
Avatar f tn Then she will continue to suck and get breast milk. Pumping helps to increase milk supply and you could pump and feed while you transition.
Avatar f tn Is it OK to feed my daughter breast milk and formula? I am planning on breastfeeding and pumping but just in case something comes up and my husband has to feed her is formula ok or will that upset her stomach?
676912 tn?1332812551 Will my supply adjust as Aubryana gets older and needs more? She's been nursing for at least an hour at night the last couple nights, spitting up more and more gassy than normal so I bought her some gas drops today and I'm gonna see how the weekend goes and call the dr to see if it's reflux if she's not doing better with it Monday...
3588173 tn?1357317184 ll get more during these pumping sessions and it helps you to produce more. You should at least aim for two pumps during the night. Bfing is supply and demand. If baby or pump isn't demanding, you won't be able to supply. It's not recommended to drop a pump until bfing is well established which is usually after 12 weeks.
1123420 tn?1350561158 You could always try a nipple shield to breast feed at home in the beginning to help increase milk supply as well as express. Expressing and getting enough milk can be time consuming so good luck with what you try.
278664 tn?1319840159 Ok so a week ago I got really sick, throwing up and diareaha. I lost alot fluids that night and I'm breastfeeding. Well since then my milk has been very low. I have been trying to pump after each feeding to make sure I empty the breast to stimulate more milk, but it's not. I have been drinking alot of fluids, eating well. I've had to supplement almost every night with formula or with pumped milk.
Avatar f tn See a lactation consultant while in the hospital to check for any latch issues if any are there. Breast milk is produced in a supply and demand. The more your baby demands the more you make. Remember once your milk regulates to your baby's needs they will not feel hard or engorged any more so don't worry. Mine got soft and floppy lol I did worry but I learned that I was still producing plenty. My sons pediatrician told me to count diapers 5 or more wet diapers a day is your indicator.
Avatar f tn I rubbed breast milk on my nipples after every feed and let them air dry for at least a few minutes. The breast milk trick is probably the best one of all of these. There are antibacterial properties in breast milk which aid the healing process and also lower your chances of getting an infection like thrush or mastitis. You should never wash your nipples with soap. Washing with water when you normally shower is all that is necessary.
Avatar f tn I leaked starting at 14 weeks. I'd wake up with a wet shirt and when I'd feel my daughter move it was like a fountain. I never stimulated it or anything. I thought my milk would be there as soon as I gave birth since I seemed to have a lot already. But my milk didn't come in for almost 5 days after delivery. I was so worried I wouldn't be able to breastfeed. The doctors wouldn't even discharge me until I gave my daughter an ounce of formula.
Avatar f tn I pumped last time as well. At first I would get 4 ounces or so each time but towards the end I would barely get an ounce. I heard oatmeal helped too.
659471 tn?1229459690 The more you offer her the breast the more your body is going to prepare itself to increase your milk supply and before long it will be the most natural and easiest thing you have ever done. My pediatrician instructed me to offer my son the breast frequently and let him nurse until he was satisfied. He was strictly breastfeed for the 1st 8 months of his life. What ever your choice you will provide nutrition to your baby and congratulations. Just hang in there and don't get discouraged.
7656727 tn?1404157447 So I finally got a pump today to get all my milk out and now it looks like I wont be making as much milk. Is there anything I can take to increase my milk supply?? Any recommendations would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
