Imitrex with excedrin

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex with excedrin

imitrex

Avatar f tn Be careful with that chica! It is very addictive. It is a barbituate and if you do become dependent or addicted to it, you have to taper slowly off of it. Quitting cold turkey can be dangerous, and possibly cause seizures. Do some research on it before you even consider taking it. (Always a good idea with any drug. Doctors often neglect to tell you about side effects, etc.) Maybe talk to your doctor about an alternate treatment option. There are a TON out there. Good luck to you.
1046692 tn?1255391835 yeah...you should really ask your doctor what they think. it can interact, as was stated above...and it can be a very nasty interaction thats really not worth the risk if there are other alternatives. migraine pain is horrible and so is anxiety, so you're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. as far as i know (and i'm certainly not a medical professional)....the interaction between the 2 isn't common.
Avatar n tn Yes, Excedrin is Acetaminophen 250mg., Aspirin 250mg., and caffeine 65mg. Excedrin Migraine is the same formula (from what I have seen). I'm not sure why they put another label on it that says "migraine" when it is the same thing as regular Excedrin. Don't get me wrong, I think Excedrin is the best OTC pain reliever but for actual migraines....they don't touch them. At least for me.
1103688 tn?1257894552 The thing that works best for me as a preventative is Excedrin - just plain old, over-the-counter Excedrin, but the problem with this is that I have multiple digestive problems, among which is the tendency to develop gastric ulcers, and my gastroenterologist would really like it if I would stop taking Excedrin. I would really like to stop taking it, too, but not if I have to risk migraines to do it.
1034911 tn?1389546066 Last week, I saw a new one and in desperation, I FINALLY took his advice to detox from Excedrin Tension that I have been usually on a daily basis for those "annoying" headaches that I wake up with. I am on Topamax daily, and also take Relpax for those severe migraines, but I don't abuse that, but really feel that the Excedrin is excessive. He also gave me Decadron as a "rescue" med.
Avatar n tn I have tried several different preventative medications including Inderal LA, which I no longer take. I now take Imitrex 100mg PRN- but have noticed a few changes in my symptoms. I have never experienced an aura-I usually get the pain on one side(usually my left) that generates to behind my left eye. The headaches pretty much incapacitate me- I am nauseated-feel dizzy-overall malaise. Imitrex and 3 excedrin usually helped.
Avatar m tn hi can any one plz guide me about pain killer medication.i have migrain problem today i went to see my doctor. she prescribed naproxen 500 mg to me. in this past i had been addicted to opiates(no pills) i don't want mess up this time with pills.i just want to know if the the above mentioned medicine is of addictive nature in the long run.
Avatar f tn No that is one I haven't tried before. Does it work?
444932 tn?1273980797 Sorry about your headache. Migraine headaches are what got me into this mess to begin with...I've never tried the excedrin migraine tho...good to know for next time. Is it a migraine that you've got?....
Avatar f tn s very rare for even a severe addict to abuse these things.....they do help with sleep. excedrin also helps...no need to get excedrin migraine because it has the same things in it as regular excedrin but it costs more. hydrocodone and tramadol are very very poor drugs for treating migraines. they really should only be used when nothing else works...and even then they are unlikely to have any effect. have you already tried triptans? i mentioned midrin might help...
1508698 tn?1360215710 I have tried imitrex b4 and I had bad reaction. Usually the OTC works but when I get a really bad migraine it doesn't help. Thanks for the advice.
Avatar n tn As far as OTC meds for migraines, I like Excedrine Migraine. For a prescription, there is Imitrex which can do wonders! Not an opiate, barbiturate or anything addictive! Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn I was put on Maxalt and it stopped working in a couple of months and I often time had to mix it with other pills. Between appt I took excedrin extra strength, I was taking 3 or 4 pills for two hours. The new pills they had put me on was a "pre migraine pill" imitrex and a once you get a migraine pill" Fioricet. But the Fioricet is beggining to stop working. I am getting migraines multiple times a day and its really getting to me. I've had a MRI done before but it was clear.
Avatar m tn I will start with Migraine medicine doesn’t work for me I have only came out of a so called migraine with Excedrin Migraine or Goodies powder is the only thing that I stand by. Sense in high school I had migraines then went into the navy and did not have one for four years (I was on a ship launching airplanes with stress like no one could believe, no sleep schedule, bad diet, no regiment) and now they are back after the navy.
Avatar m tn m concerned because after talking to my doctor he looked at my charts and noted that I relapse with migraines every three months. These migraines are so severe it keeps me from doing my every day activities. I was wondering what I could take on the side for these because since the amitriptyline isn't working my doctor told me to stay on it for a week and it just still isn't working.
Avatar n tn I've had what the doctors call cluster migraines for about 15 years. I've been many times to the doctor, although when I was younger they said there was no pills for this type of thing. They will come often, mostly a constant pressure that will build up now and again for weeks or months at a time, with short reprieves for a month or two.
Avatar f tn Also U should remember u will jave those rebound headaches when u quit.U could try excedrin@1st when u quit or better yet otc med with no caffiene(the caffiene w/d causes wicked headaches and there is a ton n the fiorcet as u know)u could take otc&drink coffee or soda for a little while until u r feeling better and getting less rebound headaches.I went from taking my whole script of90every month or getting awful headaches because they do cause them to taking excedrin only.
Avatar f tn I get these terrible headaches usually to one side of my head but they usually only come the week before my menstral and last a couple days with taking some meds like excedrin...well now it has come back before this time and along with it I cant focus on anything I feel dizzy lightheaded and extremely tired but try to lay down and cant sleep the goes from my temple to the side of my neck...Help any ideas of what is causing this...I called dr cant get an appt till thurs....but im worrried...
489786 tn?1255692879 ve taken many of the triptans and had good luck with all except Imitrex (got terrible rebound headaches!!!). Excedrin migraine, if I take it right away, works OK now that I take the topamax daily. I hope you get some relief soon.
518798 tn?1295212279 I have been eating advil and excedrin tension headache. I have been digging looking to see if I can find some imitrex here. I had a prescription years ago and I don't think I used them all, but that was "back in the day" and I don't really know what I have/had. With all the excitement of the weather here and my kids and husband all being shut up in this house for 2 days already, the noise and craziness has gotten to me.
Avatar m tn I have seen multiple neurologists, had numerous MRI scans, and am currently taking injectible imitrex, with little relief. I have found that taking 3-4 excedrin migraine pills as soon as I first feel pain, or the tingling sensation, prevents an attack from beginning. However, nothing I have tried, including morphine, excedrin, codeine, etc., has stopped an attack once it has actually begun. Any help/advice/suggestions would be extremely appreciated.
Avatar f tn s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn I did, I have migranes and was given pamalor, it worked really good for me, I stipped taking it and I am thinking I should go back on it again. I took it with imitrex. they worked fine for me. ' I have also taken wellbruten, but I don't remember why I stipped, I'm wondering if there is one med that will help with depression and weight loss and will not interfear with my sex drive? does anyone know?
635402 tn?1270162477 Silberstein of the Jefferson Headache Center was able to demonstrate through research, that Imitrex combined with naprosyn taken at the onset of a migraine was better in treating that migraine than either drug alone. Such a combination is deemed synergistic, meaning basically that two plus two equals ten. Naprosyn is the prescription form of Aleve which is sold over the counter and is an anti-inflammatory. Once this research was confirmed, GSK began to develop a combination drug.
