Imitrex and lasik

Common Questions and Answers about Imitrex and lasik

imitrex

Avatar n tn That plan sounds like it will be very time consuming and expensive with very low success rate. Also astigmatism should not cause headaches that last to the next day and require imitrex. I suggest you see a neuro-ophthalmologist as you may have an eye muscle disorder like convergence insufficiency. You can find one near you at www.geteyesmart.
Avatar f tn does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.
Avatar f tn s experience with the imitrex has been - good or bad - and if they have any other tips of things I can try (non-medicinal) to reduce the pain, etc., of the migraines. Fortunately, (knock on wood), I haven't had a migraine since I saw my doc on thursday, so I haven't tried the imitrex yet. I'm always leary/hesitant about ANY new medication, so would definitely appreciate any advice about this med that anyone might have. Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn Can lasik cause a strange feeling in your head.......I had lasik and 2 years later I have a strange feeling in my head which seems to be triggered by my eyes. I have had my eyes checked and the doctor say they are normal.
Avatar f tn I have a very minor hole in my retina and was told that I should see a retina specialist before I can be cleared for LASIK, how necesary is that, and should most retina holes be repaired before LASIK?
Avatar m tn Unfortunately I went ahead and had LASIK 2 months ago. Worst decision of my life. Since then my eyes have been really dry. I recently went to a very good specialist in Boston for my dry eyes. He diagnosed me with SLK. Could LASIK have caused SLK? Or are these 2 totally seperate things? Also what is the general treatment for SLK? Also I have read that cataract surgery and now be difficult after LASIK.
Avatar n tn I have been put on everything from narcotics (which I refuse and hate) to Beta Blockers. (Which Do help) Currently on Propanol. But my very FIRST and ONLY time using Imitrex Oral Capsule. I took the medication and I was sitting in my reclining chair and in about 15 mins I became paralyzed for 2.5-3 hours. I had no other medications in my system. I DO NOT use drugs or drink alcohol. Only Imitrex. My husband honestly thought I was joking. I could not lift my head.
1051752 tn?1253833456 Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine. Take your migraine medication for a migraine.
Avatar f tn I have tried Aphalgan P, which reduces about 75-80% of the visual distortions I have at night. Aphalgan, however, makes my eyes quite dry, and I already suffer from moderate dry-eye after LASIK, so it's not a great option for me As for floaters "not" being caused by LASIK, although I cannot be sure, I believe it is a possibility. The suction and instument used to cut the flap puts a lot of pressure on the eye which may result in collagen being dilodged in the eyes.
Avatar n tn Hello I have high myopia with both eyes about 10.00 diopter and had LASIK 4 years ago. Vision is pretty good 20/20. Do you think for my case I can go to ski with friends. Cause you know i was told by my doctor i need to avoid strenuous crash with people and hard things like ground. When i ski you know it is unavoidable that i will hit the snow ground or crash with other people. is that acceptable for my eyes. Pls kindly advise. also do i need eye shield?
Avatar f tn I would suggest you get a second opinion from a neuro-ophthalmologist but an association of optic neuritis with lasik is not something that has been reported as causative and the association is likely coincidental.
1638091 tn?1300391180 I'm currently 16 and have fairly poor eyesight. I've been considering Lasik but definitely for years down the road. I also have central heterochromia and I love it. Although I don't think anything could happen, I was wondering if Lasik has the possibility of hampering with my heterochromia. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor for Imitrex 100mg, is not narcotic, non addictive and it takes away your migraine right away. I'm also a migraine surferer and have tried a lot of medications and Imitrex works wonders.
Avatar m tn why are the eyes photophobia 2. am I a good candiate for lasik and would it make the photophobia worse. You will need to work through that with an eye MD ophthalmologist ideally specializing in cornea and refractive surgery.
1046692 tn?1255391835 Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.
1056589 tn?1273747102 Imitrex is also not the only triptan on the market, there are quite a few. If you do end up using the Imitrex and you feel you have an adverse reaction to it, one that is not life-threatening but one that you do not enjoy... there are still other triptans to try.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Steroid eye drops can raise the eye pressure also. Reading will not cause glaucoma, no matter how small the print. I would recommend that you see a glaucoma specialist for a complete evaluation. You should also have a refraction to determine what prescription will give you the best vision, and hold off on LASIK for now.
Avatar m tn a followup please, if vision is correctable by replaceable contacts then any surgery, even lasik, is then considered elective and therefore an/most insurance companies wont pay for it? the cost to him is on the order of $100/mo (seems high to me, but..) i'm not sure what/if any portion his insurance company pays. but if they are paying, long-term wouldnt they be ahead, assuming lasik surgery, rather than the monthly $$ for contacts?
1079216 tn?1258200805 Usually the bioavailability of a nasal spray will be higher than the bioavailability of a oral tablet, such as with the triptan Zomig, where the bioavailability of the oral tablets is 40% and the bioavailability of the nasal spray is 102% (when the bioavailability is higher than 100% it means that the medication by that route works better then it would by intravenous injection), although this sort of increase between oral administration and nasal administration is not the case with Imitrex.
979080 tn?1323433639 I have suffered exploding head syndrome (also known as migraines) for many, many years. I found that Imitrex didn't work and when they were severe would have to go to the hospital and be shot full of demerol and vistaril (an antihistamine that made me sleep). It was not until I could sleep would they go away. That sometimes was several rounds from bounceback migraines and I'd be in the ER for days (happened about 4 - 6 months ago).
Avatar f tn I have recently had a consultation for Lasik surgery and the optomitrist noticed some scarring on one of my retinas. I did not know it was there and have not had any vision problems or anything due to the scar. Is it safe to proceed with Lasik surgery?
