Common Questions and Answers about Imiquimod online

Avatar n tn I have talked to several docs some use cryo but I have not found any that use laser. None even brought up imiquimod which I learned about online and feel that it might be best in my situation. It seems they prescribe whatever they are familiar with. Also a transmission question. Would my partner get the condyloma exactly where my affected skin touched theres? or could it pop up anywhere on them once they have contracted it? Also does my sperm carry the hpv virus?
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm a male, 26yrs old. Can anyone describe their experiences with Imiquimod? I am on the 3.75% cream which my doctor has told me to use every other day for a month. In the first 2 weeks, nothing happened, only just a couple days ago I noticed a very slight indication that the medication might be working, but I'm still not sure. I have about 20-30 very small warts, and notice 2 or 3 of them showing a bit of redness and drying up a bit. Still not sure if this is due to the medication.

Avatar f tn Clearing of warts after only 2 weeks treatment with imiquimod is a little atypical, but well within the normal range. You can't make any accurate judgments from online forums, including this one. Online forums tend to attract people with atypical experiences. There are no hard and fast rules about disclosure of past HPV infections. Below are links to two thread that discuss the issue in detail. In general, I don't think it's necessary.
Avatar f tn Since the condition is premalignant, treatment options include 5-fluorouracil, imiquimod, scalpel vermillionectomy, chemical peel, electrosurgery, and carbon dioxide laser vaporization. Please discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist to find out which one is the best for you. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I try not to make specific diagnoses online; and in any case, you don't provide enough information for any certainty at all. For example, "crotch" means different things to different people; most people use it to mean the groin, the area where the thigh meets the leg, or between the labia and leg.

Avatar m tn However, I went online, and comparing my wart to pictures on the internet, it looks like I have a filiform wart - but websites say that this wart is most commonly seen on the face. I had warts on my hand once before - flat warts, a lot of them, but they cleared up after a year or so without me having to do anything. This one looks a lot different. So... 1. Is it very unusual to have this type of wart on my hand? 2. Can I treat this type of wart with standard salicylic acid? 3.
Avatar n tn Is there any chance the recurrent lesions are herpes and not warts? That said, the answer is yes, imiquimod (Aldara) can cause irritation and soreness that could mimic herpes, and a secondary infection could cause lymph node enlargement. Tight clothing isn't the issue. The bottom line is that I can't tell from an online description whether you have herpes, irritation from imiquimod, both, or neither (i.e., something else).
Avatar f tn Your local health department STD clinic or a family planning clinic like Planned Parenthood would be good options for expert advice. In any case, you will never get definite answers online, either by looking at information about various infections or asking questions of distant experts. Your vaginal discharge indeed is consistent with bacterial vaginosis. Trich probably is less likely, but that's because trich is a lot less common than BV.
Avatar m tn After reading the package insert and doing some research online I was to scared to try it. If it is recommended to me again I am wondering if I should use it. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Assuming you actually have warts, there are several recommended treatments, both provider-applied (freezing, podophyllin, and bi- or trichloroacetic acid) and prescriptions products named podofilox (Condylox) and imiquimod (Aldara). All are more or less equally effective, although some work better in some persons.
Avatar m tn I am just concerned because I can't find any pics online that are excat to what I have, but have noticed that it can slightly resemble a bit like genital warts, but they've always looked like it and like 4 doctors have told me that it isn't anything. Should I be worried? I did get like 2 blow jobs within the last month, but they were people I knew that get checked regularly and don't have an std (from what we've discussed). So what should I do? What could it be?
Avatar m tn A few months ago I noticed something popping out of my urethra, after driving myself insane online I went to a doctor and it was classified as a wart. I got it frozen off with cryotherapy and it went away within about 1-2 weeks. It's been about 2 months since then and I seem to be going into the clinic weekly for freezing. Tiny little warts, the size of pin-heads are popping up in different places. What started with one seems to be escalating! the more I treat them the more pop up.
Avatar f tn I am now convinced it is herpes from looking at pictures online and reading the symptoms. I am also experiencing tingling down there too! I also have a decreased appetite although this could be from worry :-( I am going to visit my doctor tomorrow just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this reaction and by some miracle it was NOT Herpes?
Avatar f tn Anyway when I went in to my doctor for my pap I mentioned it to her and she said it did look like skin tags but that it could also be genital warts so she gave me a cream Imiquimod to put on it. After the examination I was given my 2nd Gardasil shot and also a tetnis shot. About 15 minds later I went to the lab to get my blood work done and left. About 4 days later I get the call that NO ONE wants to receive.
Avatar m tn Hello i posted a little while back about trying Condyline on my genital warts, and the possibilitly of scarring being as I was going to use the solution right next to a scar that I had gotten from using ACV. ACV removed the majority of the wart, but also left me with two noticeable scars on the base of my penis.
Avatar m tn there is a way to make this vaccine therapy stronger, the use of imiquimod cream in the area of vaccine injection, since the combos on intf and the sequatial treatment with intf add on are getting more common we will see many, i hope me included, needing hbv vaccine when hbsag is very very low like less than 250iu/ml another thing to look for: are there very good brands of hbv vaccine without preservatives like mercury and other toxic substances?
Avatar n tn I was unfamiliar with "Posafilin" until your message, but a quick online search suggests it is a UK trade name for an OTC version of podophillum resin, most commonly called podophillin in the US. As you suggest, it is marketed primarily or solely for non-genital warts. I try not to "compete" with health care professionals who actually have examined and counseled a patient. But in this case I agree with you and disagree with the doctor.
Avatar m tn hey i went to the doctors today and he said i probaly have warts so i made an appointment tommorow to go to the dermantologist and i might get them lazer removed there is like 5 but if i did get them lazer removed how long would it take to heal would it be noticable for a couple of days and i looked online and i saw warts and they look bad but mine dont seem that bad its like a fleshy white bump on my skin its not like in it like if i pull hard enough i prob could rip it off but i wouldnt do tha
Avatar m tn isn't used much these days, but STD and venereal disease mean the same thing. Many treatments, including imiquimod (Aldara), suppresses warts only temporarily -- so recurrence is common. It doesn't mean anything special about your immune system or anything else. However, you clearly need to see a health professional to confirm the diagnosis and probably get additional treatment.

Ive only had sex with one guy, two times. Once 2 yrs ago when i lost my virg. and once in nov.05. i have not had sex since. I had not given oral sex in the past 2.5 yrs either. and when I did, it was once three yrs ago and once two yrs ago.
Avatar m tn does it make any sense to try this vaccine during pegintf or for those with very low hbsag levels with monthly injections in a skin area previously treated with imiquimod (with also zadaxin added for the lucky ones who has it), the vaccine seems inexpensive and if it makes no harm it would be a good try are there any trials on these new hbv vaccines in combo with peg intf and zadaxin, i couldn t find any?
Avatar m tn with the value of my DNA viral load my doctor is sugesting i need to do liver biospy test to determine the extent of the liver damage. but base on what i read online some people cases are worst than mine without liver damage. my hbeag is negative .kindly advice me on what to do. and kindly post your reply to my email adress. ; ***@****. i will be glad to hear from you soon. thanks in anticipation.

Avatar m tn $75,000 for these business guys is nothing. Here is another example.. There is GS9620.. Imiquimod that works, very very promising drug. So they are doing "clinical trials" makes sense.. But they are very selective of who they take. I live within driving distance of San Diego. And just because I take Baraclude I cannot try this drug. Have to be on Tenofovir fro 3 months or more.. Does that make sence to you? What is the difference? Both are the same group of drugs.
Avatar m tn please comment on these results, i think that monthly hbsag quant may confirm if we are having a good result from ezetimibe, we have only one thing certain from 2009 to 2012 hbsag stable from 4200 to 7300 no matter what we tried (alinia or imiquimod) would you also add intf to this combo tdf+etv+ezetimibe since imiquimod too failed?
Avatar m tn 2013 and they are all awfully quiet. I think it is time people for a massive online action against these companies. What in the hell are they doing not releasing cures now. At least.to expose them. People are not aware of hbv or how much we suffer and what is really going with with these companies how they go about saving lives. We dont need more Baraclude or simvastin to remedy it.
1256465 tn?1269665299 There are no data to suggest that treating and re-treating yourself at a place where you previously had a wart will do you any good and there are legitimate reasons for concern. The effect of chronic imiquimod use is not known to me but in that the drug causes inflammation, and knowing that chronic inflammation is not typically a good thing, I would urge you to stop. Similarly freezing and other destructive therapy will certainly leave scars and can causing chronic problems as well.
