Imiquimod itching

Common Questions and Answers about Imiquimod itching

Avatar n tn I have talked to several docs some use cryo but I have not found any that use laser. None even brought up imiquimod which I learned about online and feel that it might be best in my situation. It seems they prescribe whatever they are familiar with. Also a transmission question. Would my partner get the condyloma exactly where my affected skin touched theres? or could it pop up anywhere on them once they have contracted it? Also does my sperm carry the hpv virus?
Avatar n tn Imiquimod cream 5 was prescribed for a pre cancerous skin lesion on my face. So far, only one trearment. Hope it works well without much side effect. Just wondering if I it is helpful in removing moles. There is so much cream left in the packet, so I thought I might use to remove some annoying moles. In past, would just have moles zapped off, but wondered if this topical cream would work.
Avatar n tn Hi. The US FDA recommends that Aldara (Imiquimod) be used with caution in patients with pre-existing autoimmune disease. It's not absolutely contraindicated for someone with an autoimmune problem, but Aldara has not been properly evaluated for these types of patients, so care should be taken when Aldara is used in these cases. The US FDA also does not officially approve its use for melanoma or pre-melanoma (lentigo maligna).
5633011 tn?1371337268 Hi, How are you? If you are referring to Imiquimod, an immunomodulator, possible side effects such include blisters, body aches or pain, sore throat itching, and even redness or scaling of the skin. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper management. Support groups for vulvar cancer locally or over the net may also help. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I am having a small growth in the anus region which is itching and painful what is this.
Avatar m tn Red pimple like thing on underside of shaft with dimple in center. No itching, no crusting, no growth in size. I did squeeze it day before first doctor visit...and it got irritated a bit. September 28th: First doctor said possible genital wart (she could not be "100% certain" cause she said i shouldnt have squeezed it and caused irritation) and then used liquid nitrogen with q-tip on lesion. She dabbed the lesion a couple times and it froze.
Avatar f tn We tried Benzoil peroxide, neosporin and lotrimin with no results. We like to exchange back rubs but its not fun to feel all the bumps and the itching is bothersome. We have a medium distance photo and some pics taken with a digital microscope. It looks like the hair follicles are the location of the problem. Thanks in advance for any ideas. ~Cam.
Avatar f tn Hi, Aldara cream contains the active ingredient imiquimod. Imiquimod is an immune response modifier. It causes your body to produce more interferon. Interferon is a substance which your body produces naturally to help fight viruses and some skin diseases. Although the exact way that Aldara works is unknown, it is believed to be due to its effects on the immune system.
Avatar n tn All treatments for warts work about 60% of the time; imiquimod (Aldara) is no better (but also no worse) than other treatments. When imiquimod works, it typically takes at least several treatments over 2 weeks or more. But if you go that long without improvement, re-check with your provider.
Avatar n tn Ive been on aldara (imiquimod) 5% for approximately 2 months now. I cant notice if im seeing any improvement with my genital warts. However, ive developed a ridiculous rash around the application site. which is extremely red and irritated. The rash looks almost like if i ran really fast and slid my knee on a rug, except its around the base of my penis. Its sometimes itchy and i feel as if at sometimes its developing a particular scab. will this redness ever go away?

Avatar m tn Hello I am hoping that one of you have experience or knowledge with the cream Aldara or Imiquimod. I have been using it for about 4 weeks now on anal warts and it has made them pretty much go away. But the itching and burning is EXTREME to say the least and is a minute to minute struggle every day and is ruining my life. I am wondering how long to expect this to continue after I discontinue using the cream or any suggestions for relief until then.
Avatar n tn The over-activity of the collagen levels produced irritate the skin underneath, and this is what causes the itching (and the keloid). While I don't know for sure if your growth is a keloid or not, I can tell you that there are remedies for keloids, especially in noticeable places, like the shoulders. Silicone treatments seem to be the best way to remove keloids minus surgery. I can give you some brand suggestions if you like...(I had a keloid on my face from an eyebrow piercing...
Avatar n tn The reason I know it is an STD, or a series of STDs, is that a friend of mine who slept with the girl that I'm sure I got it from has been sub-consciously itching his groin area for the last 9 years. While this sounds trivial there is no denying its relevance. I'm deeply concerned as I do not wish to spread a virus, yet I would like to remain sexually active and eventually have children. As well as I do not wish to develop cancer.
Avatar f tn I still had some symptoms just mainly a pain in my penis head and burning after I peed/itching. I met a girl 2 weeks later who is my girlfriend now and she was a virgin before I met her so she is clean plus she’s been tested since all his has been happening to me.
Avatar n tn Went to the doctor who told me it looked like herpes and gave me a script for valtrex, took it for 7 days and it did nothing. Three months later I applied Imiquimod on the bumps and they went away in a couple of weeks. In their place some more bumps showed up almost immediately. These bumps itch like hell and have been there since they first showed up, about 2.5 years ago. If I squeeze the bumps, fluid will come out of them and they will scab over.
Avatar n tn I mentioned that the dermatologist who made the diagnosis prescribed me a medication called Aldara (you'll sometimes hear of it under the name Imiquimod). The doc here said he had never heard reports of treating MC with that medication. Among the lots of research I have done about MC on the internet, I have learned it is only beginning to be studied as a treatment. I have been using the medication since 2 weeks and it works well for the lesions on my lower abdomen.
Avatar n tn Itching, burning, painful sores (which scab over in less than 1 day). This has persisted on one side of my body for 5 days now. I am worried that I have herpes. My right lypmh node is swollen as well in my genital area. The redness and swelling has subsided somewhat on the 5th day. Is this too short to be a herpes outbreak? Could I be having a herpes outbreak instead of just a severe reaction to Aldara? I haven't ever had a reaction like this since I started using Aldara 10 weeks ago.
Avatar f tn Sround the same time I had a medium to light grayish discharge that had a fishy odor especially after I showered. I've had no pain in this time. About a week ago I've noticed a slight irritation some itching/slight burning. I also noticed some redness close to my anus that not painful in the least. No painful blisters/open sores/ulcers just some redness on my vagina. I have no problem peeing or pooping either. When I originally went to the doctor last they asked about any new soaps.
Avatar n tn In addition to keloids, I have eczema on my back, I have used lots of cream with indifferent results, there three spots on my upper back that have become very ichy and visual because of my itching. Would greatly appreciate any advice on treating itchiness and eczema over all. My doctor didn't really explain that well the problem of eczema, he said since I have colored (South Asian) skin it may take years and years to go away, this might be true but it doesn't help me treat very bad itch.
Avatar f tn Adverse effects include pain, irritation, soreness, and mild scarring. Repeated treatments are necessary. Imiquimod 5% (Aldara), an immune response modifier, stimulates production of interferon-alfa and other proinflammatory cytokines, inducing a tissue reaction known to be associated with viral clearance from the skin. Apply 3 times per week for up to 16 weeks or nightly for 4 weeks. Clearing can take up to 3 months. Tretinoin (Retin-A) 0.1% cream can be applied to lesions twice daily.
556286 tn?1215557480 Our bed sheets are covered in spots of his blood from this rash. It is now affecting his testicles with redness and itching. He has had unexplained bruises on his inner thighs and arms right under his rashes. He suffered a ring-worm like pattern at the sight of one of his primary rashes right before the bruising appeared. We recently went to a baseball game together. We were sitting for about 2 1/2 hours. When he stood up, the backs of his legs had seeped through his pants.
Avatar f tn I also had red itchy swollen labia, an initial vaginal discharge, anal itching, occaisonal stabbing pain in the back of my legs. My Gyno first said I had dermatitis. However, I had been using DMSO cream which significantly reduced the symptoms by the time I saw her. I was able to keep the itching and redness somewhat under control with the DMSO and other natural products I purchased. But it kept coming back. I fully expected to break out with herpes, but I never did.
Avatar m tn Can the warts cause itching? because it itches a little bit sometimes around my anus. 5. I feel a bit itchy sometimes at the opening of my anus although it seems there are no warts in there and the doctor didn't treat it. Can there be hidden warts in there? 6. Suppose my warts get cleared, do I need to worry that I'll pass HPV to my partners who touch my anus? Thanks much!
Avatar n tn Do you mind filling me in on the pros and cons. Also is there anything i can use to stop the itching from the warts? Also if you have warts is it true that there is more discharge and moisture? And do warts have an odor? I don't think they do but just have to ask?
Avatar n tn The limits are there to be fair to all who use the site and to keep individuals from dominating it. On to your questions, briefly. The utility of imiquimod (Aldara) for molluscum is marginal. Instead of wasting time, I would suggest you just bite the bullet and get them frozen. All need to be frozen in order to cure you and then to reduce the likelihood of you infecting your GF, your concerns about oral sex, etc. Just go on and get it done.
Avatar n tn If you are really concerned about outbreaks, ask your doctor about a topical cream medication called Aldara, (Imiquimod). It is exceedingly expensive and can cause a lot of discomfort, but it has been suggested that regular application can help keep the virus dormant and help you to stop spreading the disease to others. HPV is very common. Most people carry the virus, even without visible signs. Be grateful that it is only warts and not herpes.
Avatar f tn However don't ignore and still see your doctor to make sure, they should be able to do a swab and or blood testfor HSV What are the possible side effects of imiquimod topical (Aldara)? Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Avatar m tn Hello, I agree with your doctor that it is unlikely for the sore to be syphilis and herpes because the symptoms and lab results are giving negative result. It can be due to a genital wart because it is persisting without any itching or pain and you have history of HPV as well.
Avatar m tn ) With larger numbers, freezing with liquid nitrogen is my second choice, and is often used in my STD clinic. Although imiquimod (Aldara) works, it is slower than the other methods. As for itching, I have no advice. Normally MC doesn't itch -- so perhaps that's not the correct diagnosis, or something else also is going on. Discuss this with the STD clinic whn you see them. It might be wise to keep the area as dry as possible most of the time, especially after treatment.
