Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia blood sugar chart

hypoglycemia

Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia/ low blood sugar would be considered blood sugar levels less than about 70. Your result of 103 is normal, not hypoglycemia. It is likely that your symptoms may be from other causes. Sometimes headaches can be a sign of not drinking enough - so a glass of water and a few minutes to relax / be quiet - may help a lot. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn s on 70/30 insulin, one shot in the morning and one at supper time. While he does not monitor his blood sugar, he does modify the amount of insulin he takes by what and how much he plans to eat. He pretty much eats whatever he wants to, and does snack during the evening. Over the last six months, he's had episodes of hypoglycemia during the night - anywhere from 1 to 4 am - on average once every two weeks. Most times he wakes because he's sweaty.
Avatar n tn Today about 20 minutes after my lunch I started sweating, feeling weak, heart racing, etc. I checked my blood sugar and it was 71 after eating a chicken salad, salad. I checked it before eating and it was 77 so why would it go down after eating a salad and a few wheat crackers? 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
1058898 tn?1275675151 People who have only low blood sugars may be suffering from hypoglycemia or reactive hypoglycemia. It's good you are seeing a dietitian. They will help you manage your blood sugars.
Avatar f tn ll have to split the pills) in case of an emergency till I get her call? Had a really bad day with the blood sugar, and shakes, etc. Sort of afraid to go to sleep tonight. I tried the isocort in very small dose, and it just did not work out at all. Also, is hydrocortisone tab or injection?? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Without proper testing results one assumption is you experienced reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] is low glucose [blood sugar] that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Try the following: • Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart. • Eat a well-balanced diet including lean and nonmeat sources of protein and high-fiber foods including whole grains, fruit and vegetables.
Avatar n tn Hello vprrchk ~ we're glad you found us and so happy that you find our site helpful to you! The condition you are referring to is HYPOGLYCEMIA which means 'low blood sugar.' Every person's sensitivity level is different and therefore where one person may remain conscious at a level of 50, another may encounter a seizure at that same level. I did type "hypoglycemia" into google and many, many links showed up, so try doing that for additional resources.

Avatar n tn If your blood glucose was 61 an hour or two after breakfast, especially if your breakfast was fairly high carb (such as cereal, bread, etc) you might have a specific type of hypoglycemia called reactive hypoglycemia which is people who have low blood sugar after a meal high in carbs. I would suggest seeing your doctor and getting tested to see what type of hypoglycemia you have and to make sure you aren't pre-diabetes.
Avatar n tn She also needs to eat protein at the same time she eats carbs because it will help her blood sugar not drop so low. I know that whenever she is having a low blood sugar episode, she is told to eat half a peanut butter sandwich. I'm sure any high protein snack would do the same thing. Your blood sugars are not near high enough to have diabetes though. I'm a diabetic and I often check the blood sugars of my non-diabetic friends.
Avatar f tn In the (1) condition, the simple carbs will deliver a bolus of glucose right into your blood, creating a spike in blood sugar, and then your body will react by secreting insulin to bring it low.
Avatar m tn First when your blood sugar rises too high, causing your pancreas to release a large amount of insulin that drops your blood sugar too low, and second, a slow drop in blood sugar caused by your liver running out of stored sugar. Doctors used to think that insulin-induced hypoglycemia follows meals and that your liver running out of sugar doesn't follow meals, but they now know that both types can occur any time.
Avatar n tn Is severe Hypoglycemia a sign of Diabetes? I have had a normal fasting blood tests. My hypoglycemia strikes with no warning many times throughout the day, even as soon as an hour after my meals. I have to carry glucose tablets and orange juice with me at all times. When it falls low I cannot function. The last really bad episode of this I could hardly breathe, complete mental confusion, weak all over, headache, heart palpitations, very scary to say the least.
Avatar n tn Are there any chart available for conversion of sugar numbers from mg dl to mmol?
Avatar f tn I ended up in the hospital. what is my blood sugar and only 50. which was very low.
1523917 tn?1302215871 I never needed medication. Stay away from sugar...this can make your blood sugar spike then crash. Proteins will bring your blood sugar up and keep it more stable. I would keep peanut butter and crackers with me, peanuts, sweet and salty bars, granola etc. My father is diabetic and I was told that there may be a connection or that my hypoglycemia may turn inton diabetes later on in life.
Avatar n tn lately my blood sugar levels have been dropping low then spiking after i eat, which is making me vomit, is this hypoglycemia, or something different?
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having hypoglycemia (which is low blood sugar abt an hr or 2 after meals)? I'm 26wks and been having it for around a week now.How do u usually deal with it when it strikes?
Avatar f tn I have not heard about MS and low blood sugar being related. I do know that there are many people that have MS and diabetes. Still the doctor's say they are not related. I still have the gut feeling that they are related. Please make sure that your doctor is aware of these times of low blood sugar. You don't want to take any chances with your health.
Avatar f tn Is low blood sugar considered as gestational diabetes? I got my blood drawn last week and the nurse said my blood sugar was 51... She told me to eat every 2 hours and I've been doing that. I hope my baby will be okay. Has anyone else had low blood sugar like that while pregnant?
Avatar f tn I have been having problems with LOW BLOOD SUGAR. I am NOT a diabetic. Example: this morning i was dizzy, glucose was 115. I had a cup of yogurt, 30 mins later my level dropped to 95. After eating breakfast { 1 egg, 2 pcs whole wheat toast and 1 Tbsp peanut butter it dropped to 78. I can not seem to maintain my level and have been dizzy, nausuous and all the other symptons. It is hard to eat 6 meals a day as I work. I try to eat whole grains, and don't use sugar.
Avatar m tn On a recent visit to my periodontal dentist, I received an injection to numb my gums for surgery. After the injection, my blood sugar level sent me into hypoglycemia and I had to have some apple sauce to bring up my blood sugar level before continuing. I have never had hypoglycemia before.
