Hypoglycemia blood sugar range

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia blood sugar range

hypoglycemia

Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia/ low blood sugar would be considered blood sugar levels less than about 70. Your result of 103 is normal, not hypoglycemia. It is likely that your symptoms may be from other causes. Sometimes headaches can be a sign of not drinking enough - so a glass of water and a few minutes to relax / be quiet - may help a lot. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Without proper testing results one assumption is you experienced reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] is low glucose [blood sugar] that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Try the following: • Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart. • Eat a well-balanced diet including lean and nonmeat sources of protein and high-fiber foods including whole grains, fruit and vegetables.
Avatar m tn First when your blood sugar rises too high, causing your pancreas to release a large amount of insulin that drops your blood sugar too low, and second, a slow drop in blood sugar caused by your liver running out of stored sugar. Doctors used to think that insulin-induced hypoglycemia follows meals and that your liver running out of sugar doesn't follow meals, but they now know that both types can occur any time.
Avatar m tn I noticed my blood sugar never goes above 120. It doesn't matter how much sugar I consume. Most of the time it is in the 80 to 90 range even after eating. Today I ate a breakfast burrito and had orange juice. My blood glucose was 92 thirty minutes after eating. Sometimes it will fall in the 60 range. My fasting blood glucose level was around 80. It seems like my body overcompensates when I consume sugar. Do you think I have reactive hypoglycemia?
Avatar n tn Is this considered Hypoglycemia even though BS is 114 and if not why does he recover after an increase is sugar., and what can it be?
Avatar f tn Thanks for your question. Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar can indeed result in a headache and sometimes severe. https://www.migrainetrust.org/about-migraine/trigger-factors/hypoglycaemia/ You may find this treatment guide helpful as well. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hypoglycemia/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20373689. Are you having trouble managing your type 1 diabetes? I would talk to your doctor about how to keep your range at as consistent of a level as possible.
Avatar f tn But, I only get these symptoms occasionally after I eat. I thought It would be my blood sugar, but reading about diabetes, It just cant be right. I'm not losing weight. I have had my thyroid checked at its within normal range. I had a random blood glucose test with 3.9mmol/L Where should I start looking? My doctor had no diagnosis, other than eat more frequently. All of this makes losing weight really hard, if not impossible.
Avatar n tn Hello vprrchk ~ we're glad you found us and so happy that you find our site helpful to you! The condition you are referring to is HYPOGLYCEMIA which means 'low blood sugar.' Every person's sensitivity level is different and therefore where one person may remain conscious at a level of 50, another may encounter a seizure at that same level. I did type "hypoglycemia" into google and many, many links showed up, so try doing that for additional resources.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your help! I appreciate your feedback! I was wondering about the reactive hypoglycemia and if that's what it could be. This lower blood sugar after eating didn't start until my blood sugars were under the normal limits all throughout the day. I realize it wasn't that low but it was lower than what I was used to. Also, I was wondering if you might know about normal insulin levels? She checked my insulin level and it was 6, she said 0-25 was normal???
Avatar n tn Today about 20 minutes after my lunch I started sweating, feeling weak, heart racing, etc. I checked my blood sugar and it was 71 after eating a chicken salad, salad. I checked it before eating and it was 77 so why would it go down after eating a salad and a few wheat crackers? 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
1058898 tn?1275675151 People who have only low blood sugars may be suffering from hypoglycemia or reactive hypoglycemia. It's good you are seeing a dietitian. They will help you manage your blood sugars.
Avatar n tn My daughter was diagnosed yesterday by her doctor with hypoglycemia and her blood sugar was 80. I am not finding much about this on the internet but what I have found does not say this is a bad level. This was at about 11 am in the morning with nothing to eat of drink since night before. Should I be doing anything but helping her with diet and excercise and does this seem to be in the hypo range to you?
Avatar f tn All the sugary sweets and candy and simple carb foods (like cakes, biscuits, donuts) are spiking up your blood sugars very quickly, but then the sugar levels in the blood stream will plummet down very quickly too. The types of foods you need to eat are those that have a slow release. Make sure that you have a breakfast in the morning.
Avatar n tn drink 4 ounces and wait 10-15 minutes and check your count again...depending on which lab you have your blood work done, the normal range is either 70-110 or 80-120...if you are not having a hypoglycemic event, sweating, shaking etc. it's possible that your count is fine...as everyone's symptoms can be different, you need to discuss this with your doctor or a nutritionist...good luck...let us know how you're doing...
Avatar f tn From what I understand initial low blood sugar symptoms (that is the feelings as your sugar drops, rather than the symptoms that come about after suffering low blood sugar over an extended time) are a hormonal response your body puts out to tell itself your sugar is dropping and to do something about it. Those initial signs - the shakiness, the disconnecting feeling (almost dream-like disconnect) sometimes cold sweat, etc, can result from other things as well.
Avatar n tn It is possible low blood sugar could cause these symptoms, but sounds more like high blood sugar to me. Do you test? If you are not diagnosed with diabetes you should see a doctor to find out the reason for your symptoms.
1654177 tn?1319838494 Anyway, I told my doctor at Kaiser and she ran a random blood glucose test (non-fasting). My blood sugar was 68 ml/dl, the standard range is 70-140 ml/dl. She says to just eat less carbs and do more cardio exercise, and that this could be pre-diabetes. The part that concerns me is the numb feet. I have cut down carbs in the past 2 weks and continued to exercise more, but still my feet are numb, and hurt sometimes. Any advice?
20853006 tn?1547666489 This does sound like hypoglycemia. It will be best if you can actually check your blood sugar during one of these episodes (or even during longer period of not eating) to see if your sugars are going low. Normal blood sugars are typically in the range of about 70 - 90 all the time. Quality blood sugar meter and strips can be bought quite cheaply at wallmart, I understand (I am not in US). If you do find that your blood sugar is going low, it will be a good idea to get this evaluated.
Avatar n tn Hello MWood, As you may know, we're all volunteers here & are not medical professionals, so it's best to review your test results -- and any online research -- with your doctor. Your fasting number is well within the normal range. Your GTT numbers seem to be on the low side, as it is common for normal folks' blood sugars to rise to 140+ during a GTT. Your blood sugar also dropped rather quickly & to a very low level.
956433 tn?1255977108 just wanted to kno if anyone on this forum is dealing with hypoglycemia along with there anxiety..i have had the low blood sugar since im 15( im 21 now)..and i know if i don't eat right and take care of it it can make you feel dizzy, lightheaded, tremors and what not..and now that i have anxiety iv noticed alot of the symptoms mimic each other..also i have always been really thin..
Avatar n tn The symptoms you have are similar to hypoglycemia, but your blood sugars are in the perfectly normal range. There is a simple check your doctor can do to test you for hypoglycemia. To ease your concerns, I'd recommend making an appointment and getting checked. Good luck.
Avatar n tn i have 3 children with celiac disease. we got in on a celiac study done through the university of california, irvine. we now know that my husband and i and 8 of my 9 children all are DQ2 positive. i don't know why the disease activated in only 3 of my children and no one else---at least not yet. my celiac children are all girls--identical twins that just turned 20 and a 16 year old. they were all diagnosed at the same time 5 1/2 years ago.
Avatar n tn In people without diabetes, hypoglycemia can result from the body producing too much insulin after a meal, causing blood sugar levels to drop. This is called reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia can be an early sign of diabetes. https://www.diabetes.
Avatar n tn I do believe that if it was diabetes causing this, he would have other symptoms such as the ones I listed in regards to High Blood Sugar and I have not yet read anywhere that sugar cravings fall in the high blood sugar category. I would lean towards hypoglycemia, but as I mentioned, I am not a medical professional, so there could be something else triggering these cravings. You definitely need to talk again with your physician. (2nd opinions are good!
