10161345 tn?1488138652 I've had hypoglycemia most of my life and crohn's disease for all of it (though only diagnosed a few years ago), so I've always had to be kind of careful. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with restrictive diets and hypoglycemia during pregnancy? At 27 weeks I'm struggling to keep my blood sugar up/stable between what foods are and aren't recommended during pregnancy combined with what my flare-prevention diet allows.
Avatar n tn You might want to try sipping about a half cup of orange juice when you feel this way, and see if you feel better within about 15 minutes to a half hour. If so, then this would indicate that your blood sugar is running too low. There are dietary changes that might help with this problem -- I would suggest that you go to your doctor and have a glucose tolerance test done to see how your body is reacting to sweet foods or sugar.
Avatar n tn I would encourage you to sit down with a good cup of tea or something DECAFFEINATED (did you know that hypoglycemia can be made worse in folks whose pancreases react too strongly to stimulus by caffiene???) and spend some time doing Google searches on hypoglycemia and diets for hypoglycemia. There is a lot of good information out there on this subject and you need to educate yourself about it so you know what to do to help get this under control.
Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia/ low blood sugar would be considered blood sugar levels less than about 70. Your result of 103 is normal, not hypoglycemia. It is likely that your symptoms may be from other causes. Sometimes headaches can be a sign of not drinking enough - so a glass of water and a few minutes to relax / be quiet - may help a lot. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Today about 20 minutes after my lunch I started sweating, feeling weak, heart racing, etc. I checked my blood sugar and it was 71 after eating a chicken salad, salad. I checked it before eating and it was 77 so why would it go down after eating a salad and a few wheat crackers? 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
1058898 tn?1275675151 they did a a1c test and it is only at 5. i had to go in for a all day fast. for the first couple hr my blood stayed ate 95. they also was taking blood out of my arm every time they checked my blood with the meter. my labs were coming back as below 70. so this whole time when i started to feal hypo when my blood sugar was in the 90, it was really in the 70 and below. the endo said i have low sugars and i have to see a dietitian tomorrow to learn how to keep my sugars up.
Avatar f tn Without proper testing results one assumption is you experienced reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] is low glucose [blood sugar] that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. Try the following: • Eat several small meals and snacks throughout the day, no more than three hours apart. • Eat a well-balanced diet including lean and nonmeat sources of protein and high-fiber foods including whole grains, fruit and vegetables.
Avatar n tn Fibre rich diets help reduce caloric intake. Keep checking your blood sugar levels regularly for good glycemic control to avoid diabetic complications.Excercise daily for minimum of 30min. Avoid crash diets as they can be bad for your health. Avoid too low glucose levels in blood (<70mg/dl) Consult your physician regularly for check up to see if your sugar levels are under control.
Avatar n tn Hello vprrchk ~ we're glad you found us and so happy that you find our site helpful to you! The condition you are referring to is HYPOGLYCEMIA which means 'low blood sugar.' Every person's sensitivity level is different and therefore where one person may remain conscious at a level of 50, another may encounter a seizure at that same level. I did type "hypoglycemia" into google and many, many links showed up, so try doing that for additional resources.

Avatar n tn And if so, you may want to do some reserch (a Google search will help you) on diets for people prone to hypoglycemia, for there are specific dietary changes that can be made to make the situation better. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn If your blood glucose was 61 an hour or two after breakfast, especially if your breakfast was fairly high carb (such as cereal, bread, etc) you might have a specific type of hypoglycemia called reactive hypoglycemia which is people who have low blood sugar after a meal high in carbs. I would suggest seeing your doctor and getting tested to see what type of hypoglycemia you have and to make sure you aren't pre-diabetes.
Avatar f tn This will keep your blood sugar steady throughout the day, without cycling up and down. Best meal plan for this is LCHF, which basically resembles VEGETABLE + PROTEIN (meat/fish/egg) + FAT. Make sure fat is from natural sources, like olive oil, avocado, butter, coconut, etc, and not the fake stuff like margarine.
Avatar m tn It can be diagnosed by feeding you lots of sugar and measuring your blood sugar level every half hour for several hours. If you indeed suffer from hypoglycemia, your doctor then has to find a cause that includes a damaged liver, an inadequate amount or excess of many different hormones, tumors and glandular abnormalities. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks and help is greatly appreciated.
2088051 tn?1334542007 I Mean I've Already Been To A Doctor Like A Month Or So Ago And He Basically Told Me To Keep Orange Juice And Peanut Butter Crackers.. Avatar n tn Is severe Hypoglycemia a sign of Diabetes? I have had a normal fasting blood tests. My hypoglycemia strikes with no warning many times throughout the day, even as soon as an hour after my meals. I have to carry glucose tablets and orange juice with me at all times. When it falls low I cannot function. The last really bad episode of this I could hardly breathe, complete mental confusion, weak all over, headache, heart palpitations, very scary to say the least.
Avatar f tn I ended up in the hospital. what is my blood sugar and only 50. which was very low.
1523917 tn?1302215871 I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia nearly 20 years ago after the birth of my son. I was having " black outs."...very sudden fainting, however you want to put it...it scared me to death. I had a Dr tell me that I was having "anxiety attacks" but I refused to believe that and I finally found a Dr that would do a glucose tolerance test. My blood sugar dropped to 45 during the test. You feel light headed, irritable, weak, foggy brained....etc.
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having hypoglycemia (which is low blood sugar abt an hr or 2 after meals)? I'm 26wks and been having it for around a week now.How do u usually deal with it when it strikes?
Avatar n tn lately my blood sugar levels have been dropping low then spiking after i eat, which is making me vomit, is this hypoglycemia, or something different?
Avatar n tn In the early 90s, I was diagnosed as Extreme Reactive Hypogycemic. Current medical professionals don't seem to know what that term means. I was almost killed recently while in the hospital, because they thought it was regular hypoglycemia and drew blood without giving me anything to eat or drink. I need to find out the current, correct medical term for my condition so that this won't happen again.
Avatar m tn Thanks very much for the response, and very sorry for this delayed reply. I shall check up on reactive hypoglycemia.
Avatar f tn I have not heard about MS and low blood sugar being related. I do know that there are many people that have MS and diabetes. Still the doctor's say they are not related. I still have the gut feeling that they are related. Please make sure that your doctor is aware of these times of low blood sugar. You don't want to take any chances with your health.
